The Uncommon Correlation :: Mos Def SCARED of Lupe Fiasco :: Cyhi da Prynce disses Kanye West #ka
Cyhi da Prynce v.s Kanye West
Atlanta-based rapper Cyhi Da Prince, former Def Jam artist and G.O.O.D music affiliate, unleashed a fury of words on newly released track Elephant in the Room, which discusses his frustrations with label boss, Kanye West and other label mates. Frustrations seemingly stemming from never dropping an album on either Def Jam or G.O.O.D music, feeling slighted on certain situations & underappreciated.
Cyhi on Kanye:
“Hey, Ye do you know what it feels like, to really be signed to you in real life? Have you ever wrote a song, you know you bout to say something wrong but you still write. I hope when I’m done we still tight but why wasn’t I on the cover of the Complex?”
--Speaking of his omission from the cover on Complex’s September 2012 issue release. Cyhi is an actual G.O.O.D music artist while Common & 2 Chainz weren’t but still graced the cover.
Cyhi on Def Jam:
(Him walking into Def Jam office)
“OK, everybody on the fuckin’ floor, you and you by the double doors. That was three shots but it holds 15, so that means I got a dozen more.”
Cyhi on Pusha T:
(woman yells—what the f**k Cyhi, what are you doing this for?)
“Cause nobody want to listen to the kid rap, OK my n***a Pusha s**t snap/ nah, I’m lying man that s**t’s crap.”
Cyhi on Teyana Taylor:
“OK Teyana got a fat ass, but she won’t let nobody in the clique tap/ and there ain’t gon’ be no new Yeezy album, cause he in the trunk with his mouth taped and wrists wrapped.”
Cleary he’s frustrated….but in the same breath, he makes a strong point. Settle the differences amicably (being that he hopes they’re still tight) and move on from the situation. In the age of the internet and social media, if Cyhi has used his time wisely then he’s already created a strong and vast fan base and should consider going independent. If there’s anything Brooklyn MC, Fabolous has taught us is, there’s money in mixtapes. Any significant, unsigned artist with a following on Instagram may prove there is money in touring. I believe Cyhi can make this transition a lot smoother than many other artists who try to. Either way, he is extremely lyrical and versatile with his wordplay, delivery and flow. It’s going to be interesting to see his next move after this, as well as his personal and business relationship with Kanye and G.O.O.D music.
Mos Def turns down Lupe Fiasco
A few weeks ago, a video surfaced of Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) “seemingly” challenging anyone to a freestyle rap battle against himself, Black Thought of the legendary Roots band and King Los. Immediately Chicago-based rapper Lupe Fiasco, accepted the challenge by posting the following on his Instagram---
Video link:
https://youtu.be/4-tzs_zSxkg
https://youtu.be/eXyb98mY5rk
"If Mos wanna battle, he can get a whiff of the wrath, and I'm behind all these bars/Don't to tap Miller for some genuine drafts…" The rapper wrote, making a reference to Drake's alleged ghostwriter Quentin Miller.
Now it seems as if Yasiin Bey is going back on his word, not accepting Lupe's counter challenge, his reason being,: "The original video wasn’t intended for the public", says Bey. Although he still stands behind the statement made in the video, he says at the same time he’s not trying to form an exhibition, stating it was a violation, a private statement made public and without his knowledge or permission,…" Bey says his reasoning behind the whole idea was just seeing certain people and having an opinion on them. Bey goes on about the video statement saying, "Some of that is self-perpetuated, but all of it is not self-inflicted. It’s threatening to turn the whole thing, or a fair portion of the thing, into some gladiator tournament."
Regardless of it’s intent, the statement was made and Bey should follow through with what he created. These lyrical giants aren’t ranked currently, among some of our most commercially popular artist, however, their flows are phenomenal and their track record proven. This would be great for the internet, and hip hop as a whole; not to mention the proposed charity donation. I believe Bey had the chance to express in full, how he feels as well as feed the "back pack", underground true fan base of hip-hop. Let’s just admit it, fans gotta to show them love, because they’ve been starving for years. What hip hop heard in Mos Def’s explanation for not accepting was--- "I know what I said, but…" *crickets* I think we all can in one way or another agree that, one of hip hop’s unwritten rules or principles is:
Be a man, never back down & rip apart whoever opposes
. His explanation essentially, was an excuse filed under
I can’t deliver because of whatever pretentious reasoning
. Ultimately, Bey’s response is a contradiction and maybe shouldn’t have been expounded on at all. Let’s hope the hip-hop GOD’s all change their minds and allow this lyrical onslaught to commence.
Uncommon Correlation---
Kim Kardashian posted a photograph to her Instagram nude, professing her elation of being pregnant for a second time, feelings about the rumors of having a surrogate, and how she may appear before after eating a meal or 2 or 3 in a picture; among much more. Baring it all for the world to see--- again, with the deeply, expressive caption became the conversation of the internet. Last week during the GOP Primary debate, Donald Trump was questioned by Fox News Megyn Kelly as some rude and insensitive comments he’s made about women in the past. Most notably calling Rosie O’ Donnell a “pig” and a “slob” and once tweeted about Arianna Huffington of the Huffington-Post, “is unattractive both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man—he made a good decision.” My initial thought of seeing the picture was she’s beautiful, confident, and most of all mother in joy. However---
What would Donald Trump potentially say or “tweet” in rebuttal to Kim Kardashian’s Instagram post if he felt ever so inclined? I think would be similar to this----
-“Kim is making absolutely no sense; there is no way she can fake being skinny now.”
-“Question: How many sets of twins is she having?”
-“This is the real reason why I have an issue with the U.S population growth rate.”
-However, I admire the ground she walks on because it’s one strong floor.”
-“She actually reminds me of someone and their name rhymes with Rosie O’ Donnell.”
-“I’ve seen better legs on a turkey.”
-“She looks like a buffet connoisseur.”
- Someone should’ve explained to her thoroughly a surrogate carries during, not after because somehow it seems she managed to get that confused.
-She has just proved and confirmed for me, that pregnancy is a beautiful thing--- Only in theory and pop-up books.”
Or something like that--- either way, don’t expect to hear anything publicly from Donald Trump however, I’m sure somewhere he’s sharing his overly-opinionated thoughts on subjects ranging from politics, Megyn Kelly, Mexicans and most importantly--- nothing.
Kanye West receives honorary Doctorate degree from the Art Institute of Chicago---- The Acceptance Speech
Dr. West be like: No matter how many degrees I get...
Kanye West’s receives honorary Doctorate degree among others; BEFORE him---
This past week, Kanye West received a honorary Doctorate degree from the Art Institute in Chicago. Since then, many social “medialites” has expressed their opinion or disdain rather, for the College Dropout’s (West) honorary degree. The argument was: what has he (West) accomplished academically to receive a degree; moreover, a Doctorate? If West has ever felt before, that he’s attacked or “bullied” by the media because of his past mistakes, i.e the infamous Taylor Swift Interruption or “George Bush doesn’t like Black people” comment, he’s probably entitled. One specific comment that I read online, that inspired this post, was captioned: “THIS IS DISGUSTING” (narrating a picture of West in his cap and gown). I often try to disregard “educated ignorance” (college educated people who still voice, partake in or condone stupid s***), however this one I couldn’t pass up. I have compiled a list of celebrities and other famous figures who have received honorary degrees from notable, academic institutions---
Oprah received a Doctor of Law degree from Harvard University in 2013, Doctor of Fine Arts; Princeton University in 2002 & Doctor of Humane Letters, Duke University in 2009
Meryl Streep; Doctor of Fine Arts Yale University in 1983, Doctor of Fine Arts from Princeton University in 2009 & lastly, Doctor of Arts from Harvard & Indiana University in 2010 (Ms. Meryl Streep was putting up numbers, right?!!?)
Ben Affleck, Doctorate from Brown University in 2013
Alec Baldwin- Doctor of Fine Arts, New York University in 2010
Jodie Foster- Doctor of Fine Arts, Yale University in 1997
Robert De Niro- Doctor of Fine Arts, New York University in 1996
Conan O’ Brien- Doctor of Fine Arts, Dartmouth College 2011
Ed O’ Neill (Al Bundy)- Doctor of Fine Arts, Youngstown State University 2013
Sean “Diddy” Combs- Doctorate of Humanities, Howard University in 2014
John Legend- Doctorate of Music, Pennsylvania University in 2014
Dr. Kanye West is a very passionate, driven individual who wants to be heard through his creations in music and fashion- whom many consider to be forms of art because it is, in theory 100%. Dr. West mentioned in his speech that it would have been much easier to create in the world, if he was able to say he has a degree from the Art Institute of Chicago. That’s actually one of the most, humbling statements he’s made publicly. God ain’t done with him yet! The list that Dr. West now belongs to, for receiving a honorary degree: displays the dedication to his craft, the hard work that goes into creating art and sharing it with the world. Why hate Kanye?--- because he essentially received his degree in a “unconventional way”, while avoiding group projects, midterms, finals, and infamous “pimpstress” Sallie Mae- Student Loan Association (cuz b**** better have my money!!! sorry, that’s just something I imagine her saying). Don’t hate, because Dr. Yeezus has made plethora of contributions to music College Dropout, Late Registration & Graduation- Grammy-Award winning projects. West, has also worked along side fashion icons Christian Louboutin & Ricardo Tisci and produced films, respectively. The comment that was made, that inspired this post reminded me that no matter of the amount degrees one has obtained, educated fools are still alive and thriving. Dr. West also mentioned how proud his mother, the late Dr. Donda West, would be if she could be here with him now. Good job Yeezy, keep putting on for Chicago. South, South, Southside--- ALL DAY N****!!!
Congratulations Dr. Kanye West.
FULL VIDEO: Principal’s racist comments (note: the gentleman behind her body language after she said the last remark lmao!)
The Principal & the Devil on her Shoulder
How many of us heard this before: “the devil made me do it?” don’t worry I’ll wait.... (cues jeopardy music) right! nowhere, unless the person is on trial for murdering a whole movie theater or school. That’s the only time it’s acceptable! Any other time is just ludacris *Mike Tyson vc*. Nevertheless, that’s the case in Georgia. Nancy Gordeuk, founder of TNT Academy in Stone Mountain, was captured on camera Friday trying to get the crowd to listen to the valedictorian, who she skipped during the program and who spoke at the end of the ceremony however, when the audience begins to file out, Gordeuk, who is white, says: “You people are being so rude, to not listen to this speech. It was my fault that we missed it in the program.”Amid the hubbub, Gordeuk ranted, “Look who’s leaving—all the black people.”
The crowd, what seemed to be predominately or at least half African American erupted. Gordeuk later released a statement saying “This was a terrible mistake on my part of the graduation ceremony on Friday night,” Gordeuk wrote, according to WXIA Atlanta “The devil was in the house and came out from my mouth. I deeply apologize for my racist comment and hope that forgiveness in in your hearts.” Once the video went viral, she even went as far as to send the parents an email apologizing to the parents and students.
My Take: First off, she funny as hell. Nowhere comedic funny unless that comparison is to Micheal Richards. She made a mistake, absolutely but I’ve never seen a person make a mistake on purpose though; a few of them at that. Her intent was to be heard, her frustrations were going to be heard. 1st mistake: Not quitting while you’re ahead with the “you people” comment. 2nd mistake: Forgetting what era she’s currently living in; either that or she underestimated the audience and assumed they haven’t upgraded from flip phones yet. But that can’t be it though, since the school’s 48 graduates had to pay up to $300 for the graduation ceremony. 3rd mistake: “the comment” itself. She’s a pathetic, pitiful, poor excuse for a principal (say that 5 times). No established leader should make this kind of mistake, be an example. I wonder how many students she disciplined and told them “you have to accept responsibility for yours actions.” Hypocrisy!!! I’ll tell you this much, once those Black parents, withdraw their Black children, and recommend to their Black friends & family that this Academy isn’t sensitive to their kind; when approached just say “Jesus made me do it”
Lastly, the whole “the devil made me do it” comment, complete cop out. I’m sure there’s serial killers rolling over in their graves and jail cells on death row right now, saying “Don’t this b**** know that excuse is only reserved for real n*****?!!!?
SERIOUSLY THOUGH...
Congratulations to all the 2015 graduates of TNT Academy! continue to move onward and upward.
Spike Lee filming “Chiraq”
Living legend, icon and film innovator Spike Lee is preparing to film his latest project ‘Chiraq’. The term (Chiraq) itself, a word to describe Chicago because of its violent history and crime rates in one of America’s most dangerous cities. Most residents of Chicago despise and denounces the term; while others fully embrace it. While I remain neutral on the situation, the truth that lies at the core of this upcoming film is a accurate depiction; however, you won’t see me rocking a t-shirt or hat with “Chiraq” on it. Neighborhoods like Auburn Gresham, Roseland, and Englewood are Chicago’s roughest of the rough. Basically, you better not go there unless you’re from there.
Lee, 58 has received a significant amount of backlash from the film’s title from high-end city officials such as Mayor Rahm Emanuel and 4th ward alderman Will Burns. Mayor Emanuel doesn’t agree with the message (connotation) that this’ll send and Will Burns has been fighting very hard; asking for a City Council vote on a symbolic measure that would urge the state not to give Lee and his company, Forty Acres and A Mule Filmworks, a $3 million tax break for filming in Illinois.
To no avail, Lee is still going to move forward with the project. 4 Star Casting held a casting call on Saturday, May 9 at St. Sabina Academy's Bethune Hall, 7801 S. Throop Street. I actually attended the casting call. Not to write this story but to get f****** paid, so I don’t have to write stories like this anymore (just joking, I love this s***). However, hundreds and hundreds of Chicago residents showed up very early to stand in line for at least 2 hours. (I will say this, some of you all looked like you didn’t belong) some people looked like the were from Witchata, Kansas. All the thots, thugs and food stamp recipients showed up to get their shine on, in hopes of being discovered. 4 Star casting insisted that “you have a Chicago look” to yourself. So it’s going to be exciting to see how this film turns out regardless. Celebrities such as Kanye West, Common, Jeremy Piven and Samuel L. Jackson are set to star in the upcoming film.
Silver lining: If casted, YOU might not have to f*** with Ray Ray or Shenieka broke ass no more.
Mr & Mrs Brown 😩😅😂 (they'll make some cute babies; know how dat mixed s*** be. Nappy hair with cold dance moves)
Chris Brown’s “alleged” wife breaks in, then sleeps in!
You might have heard about Chris Brown’s Agoura Hills, CA home being broken into and his property vandalized. The suspect Amira Kodcia Ayeb posted a message online 4 days ago, in which she says she's in Malibu "searching for her home." The 21-year-old from Tunisia also says her last name is Brown. It's apparent she thinks Chris is her husband, which is why she spray painted "Mrs. Brown" on his cars and in his house. A friend of Ayeb's tells us Ayeb -- who is an aspiring singer -- attends the University of Houston, and she hopped on a bus last week and said she was going to see Chris. Ayeb was arrested Wednesday night for breaking into Brown's home and vandalizing two of his cars. Chris found her naked in his bed, and it appears she was there for 2 days. She is currently being held on $50,000 bail.
NOW, let’s view it from this perspective: @cthagod (Charlamagne the God) posted from his instagram page--- “The media wants you to believe that walking into your house and seeing a dark skin, naked woman with natural hair in your bed is a bad thing. #staywoke” could that not be the dumbest insinuation I’ve heard thus far. How about there’s a muthaf**** in my home, my place of refuge and I have NO IDEA who the F they are!!! That would be frightening for anyone. I’ve had people ask my opinion, is this some sort of conspiracy, another diabolical plan to bring down the dark, natural haired beauties that we all love so much? I say this is a conspiracy to show how ADT is a horrible choice for security. Many believe Brown put Ayeb on blast because she wasn’t a light skin or foreign chick, with Brazilian weave and ass shots that would make Khloe (Kardashian) jealous. Whomever conceives that notion to be even partially accurate is just as crazy as Ayeb is.
If anything, I’m most upset about the fact that Brown reacted the way he did. In 2009, Brown put them hands on Rihanna for allegedly going through his phone but instagramed the Ayeb after she broke in, spray painted his house and car, cooked food (didn’t save him any, might I add) left dirty dishes in the sink, and hopped her naked ass in his bed. You know damn well, she wasn’t flushing no toliets in that muthaf****! Clearly, Brown is a changed man. Either that, or he actually did HIT and then tried to stunt on the pvssy. However, we all know if she got the D, she was never going anywhere. He would of fvcked some sense into her. smh lol
Pray for her.....
Jay-Z to Perform in NYC; What to expect?
Jay-Z, is set to perform in NYC next week on May 13th, for one day only for the launch of Tidal X; His idea/creation turned into a potentially lucrative venture with the live streaming music service will be exciting to watch. Make note: only Tidal subscribers will be able to live stream the concert. Jay-Z titles it “B-sides” which will derive from his non-commercial, “Deep” content of his catalog.
This concert will be like no other. It’ll be different from his most recent the Blueprint 3 & MCHG concerts. Attending this concert? Don’t expect to hear “Dirt Off Your Shoulders” or “Empire State of Mind”, however if you’re a day one fan then you’re in to hear & enjoy some classic material.
Songs from albums to expect? Jay-Z has always steered away performing his “B-side” manifestos because of fan favorites purchasing his tickets, wanting to hear his more popular music. NOW he’s taking it back to the neighborhood of “Marcy”.
1. Reasonable Doubt- Since he owns the masters to Reasonable Doubt & removed it from his rival Spotify, he’ll perform a multitude of tracks from this album such as “Can I Live” & “22 2’s.” Also look for “D'evils” & “Feeling it.” Don’t be shocked if he brings out Mary J Blige for “Can’t Knock the Hustle”.
2. Life & Times Vol. 1- This is Jay-Z’s album that he says “I used to cringe when I’d hear it.” Because he deemed this album as being unsuccessful. However, he’s definitely going to perform “Where I’m From”, the heavy metal, hard core rap beat laced gangsta lyrics. He’ll grace your ears with “Imaginary Players” & “Million Questions/Rhyme No More”. I think the most pivotal record of that album is “Rap Game/Crack Game”. Especially, since he reminds of quite frequently that he “mastered the corner like Deion(Sanders) in his uniform.” Also this may be the perfect time for Hov to perform his dark, detailed recollection of the dope game with “Friend or Foe” part 1 & 2. It just makes perfect sense. Don’t forget the “Streets is Watching” track that was signature in his early days.
I think the wild card is going to be his ‘The Streets is Watching’ soundtrack. This album has some really deep content with tracks like “In My Lifetime” & “Only A Customer”. Lastly, you’ll hear Vol. 2 & 3, songs like: “Jigga What, Jigga Who”, “NYMP” & “Come Get Me”.
Do I smell a Jay-Z & Memphis Bleek reunion brewing?!!?
Memphis Bleek was largely apart of Jay-Z’s early success with tracks like “Coming of da Age” part 1 & 2. So if Bleek shows up, it’ll get nuts in NYC. You all are in for a treat.
Jay-Z to Perform in NYC; What to expect?
Remembering Ty Wansley
Remembering Ty Wansley (V103-Chicago)
Ty Wansley, Chicago radio news anchor and talk show host for more than 35 years, was being remembered Thursday for his passion and legacy in radio as well as the community he served.
Wansley, 63, died Wednesday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, in Evanston Illinois where he was admitted last week for treatment of congestive heart failure and related illness, according to his brother, Larry Wansley. He previously suffered a series of small strokes.
“He really was a good guy, a caring guy who touched so many people,” his brother recalled.
Wansley, was the director of news and information for three iHeart Media stations here in Chicago. WGCI, WVAZ-V103 & WGRB AM 1390. Over time, Wansley’s career interviews were some of his more highlighting moments. Ty interviewed community leaders, mayors, congressmen, governors, and presidents with ease. He will be surely missed for his passion, wit and hard work ethic. “Some people just do a job and others are passionate about it,” said longtime friend Sherren Leigh, former publisher of Today’s Chicago Woman. “Ty was passionate about radio.” Leigh said Wansley was especially proud of a career in which he had interviewed “everyone from politicians to business people to famous jazz musicians.”
