So this is a very dumb theory but I just thought of it! Let me explain:

Mistyfoot becomes Leopardstar’s deputy in The Darkest Hour

She is kidnapped by Twolegs in Dawn, when the twolegs are trying to trap all of the Clan cats to relocate them. We know they wanted to socialize these “feral cats” and re-home them because of what happens to Graystripe.

Hear me out, the twolegs slowly start taking the cats one by one to the vets to have them vaccinated and fixed. Think about it! Mistyfoot/star and Blackclaw never have another litter of kits together. Mistyfoot/star never gets sick. Plus cats that are fixed live longer than those who aren’t!

((I also headcanon that Littlecloud was a TNR kitty and got vaccines so that’s why he lives so dang long))

Warrior Cats but when a leader loses a life, they spend the period between death and revival in the paws of the cat who gave them their next life.

It’s no mundane experience either. They must endure the most impactful event in that cat’s life; the moment that led the cat to choose what the life they gave would stand for.

Firestar watched from the eyes of Redtail as Tigerclaw pinned him to the ground and tore out his throat.

Mistystar stood up and defended Stormpaw and Featherpaw, surprised to hear Stonefur’s voice instead of her own when she spoke out.

Bramblestar laid dying from his wounds, barely able to hear Goldenflower begging Lionheart to stay awake. The only thing he could think of is how proud he was for serving for his Clan.

The point is to remind the leader of what they are being revived for. They continue living so that they can protect and guide their clanmates to greater outcomes, having learned from the experiences of the cats who gave them their extra lives.

Winged Cats AU

In this AU, cats not only grow wings, but they exhibit more bird-like behaviors.

Cats are born pretty much helpless. They cannot fly, so they stay in the nest/tree camp. As they grow older and more mobile, they are at a higher risk of falling out of the trees, so they must be watched more closely. Also they all have the grumpy baby bird face ):(

Cats are apprenticed once they gain the rudimentary ability to fly. They are usually still rather shaky, and young apprentices usually spend most of their time learning how to fly.
