In elementary school I was ostracized for being creepy after I gave Christmas presents to all my friends. I put a lot of thought into them and personalized each one. I didn’t understand why they all stopped speaking to me, even after one of their moms told me my present was ‘a little much’.

The Bus Driver is a Serbian immigrant who has only been in the country 12 years. The Baby was a recent refugee from Burma who wandered outside the family’s apartment after pushing a door open while no one was watching, in below freezing temperatures. The Mother of the baby is a Rohingya refugee dealing with PTSD mental health issues from surviving the massacre in Burma and is brand new to the country. She was hospitalized after breaking down after her baby was saved but has been released now. Something that I really like about The Good Place is that at times it feels like fanfiction. It has that element of taking the same characters and placing them in a reality in which something is different to see what changes about their thoughts and actions and what stays the same. All the different combinations and types of relationships that arise with each reboot (Jason and Janet vs. Jason and Tahani, romantic Eleanor and Chidi vs. platonic Eleanor and Chidi, even mention of a reboot where Eleanor and Tahani were soulmates) totally remind me of fans rewriting the canon to get their ships together. Heck, the most recent season is basically “AU where the characters never died.” You get to see that comparison of “what ifs” whereas in most shows there’s only one canon that they stick to, and I find that so appealing and fun.

Here’s a “life-hack” for you. Apparently concentrated Kool-Aid can be used as a pretty effective leather dye. I was making a drink while cutting the snaps off some new straps for my pauldrons and I got curious, so I tried it, thinking, “ok even if this works, it will just wash out.” Nope. It took the “dye” (undiluted) in about 3 seconds. After drying for about an hour and a half, it would not wash off in the hottest tap-water. It would not wash out after soaking for 30 minutes. It did not wash out until I BOILED it, and even then, only by a tiny bit and it gave it a weathered look that was kind of cool. Add some waterproofing and I’d wager it would survive even that. That rich red is only one application too. Plus it smells great, lol. So there you go, cheap, fruity smelling leather dye in all the colors Kool-Aid has to offer.

If you’re dying anything with kool-aid it’s best to use SUGAR-FREE ones otherwise the thing you’re dying might get all sticky

the flavor only packets where you are supposed add sugar are the best.  they will dye any natural fiber: leather, wool, cotton, hair,  flax, jute, silk and so forth.  heat the dye water so it is more potent.  let dry then rinse excess out in cold water.  there’s  a whole system to this.

Trump threatens years-long shutdown, national emergency if he doesn’t get wall funding

President Donald Trump once again unleashed what’s become his presidential hallmark: a bizarre, winding, threatening press conference, this time following his White House meeting with Democratic leaders Friday to try to break the impasse causing the government shutdown.

In a long, meandering briefing in the Rose Garden, Trump told reporters the partial shutdown now heading into its third week could go on for months, even years, if Democrats don’t give him the $5.6 billion he’s demanding to build a U.S.-Mexico border wall. The Democrats have steadfastly refused. The shutdown has affected some 800,000 federal workers — 420,000 of them forced to work without pay — since Dec. 22.

“This is national security we’re talking about,” Trump said. “We’re not talking about games.“

When asked if there was any “safety net” for workers going without pay as the shutdown continues, Trump responded: “The safety net is going to be having a strong border.”

Trump also floated another way he could get his wall: declaring a state of national emergency over border security to build it without congressional approval.

“I could do it if I wanted,” Trump said.
