Fili is trying to take in and memorise the chaos that needs to become the correct order of courses, plates, saucers, wines and treats. Next to him Kili is doing the same, only with much more of a scowl.

“Kili. Kili, if you walk in there with that expression, they’ll think the soup is poisoned.”

“Artichokes, asparagus – what?!”

“Eyebrows.”

“Right. Artichokes –“

“Remember the garnish.”

“Of course I remember the garnish! Asparagus –“

Quarter to eight. Table inspection.

Dinner gong at eight. Delivered by Kili, as usual, with slightly more flourish than strictly necessary. Kili loves ringing the gong.

I don’t normally reblog or like anything from this person because they seem to repost a lot of other people’s artwork, and I know that if it was my stuff, I would be upset.

But this is my absolute fave - Durins at the end of BOFA, a bit battered and bruised, but alive, together and looking optimistic. Fili’s beard looks so fluffeh, I could dieeeeee.

I’ve done an extensive search for the source of this pic, but as best as I can tell the artist doesn’t have a Tumblr account. They do however have a Twitter.
