My 5 Picks For The Next Doctor

With Peter Capaldi stepping down, I find myself disagreeing with mainstream articles on who the next Doctor will be, so I thought I’d write one of my own, 

#1 - Hayley Atwell 

Hayley brings a certain power and charisma to everything she does, she has an incredible range and can take a scene from deadly serious to bubbly fun in a heart beat. She’s already proven she can play women in a mans world and she’s said she’d be up for it, what more do you want? 

#2 - Iain De Caestecker 

Iain is an actor who is extremely versatile, as his time on Marvel's Agents of Shield has shown, He would be a refreshing change of pace from Capaldi as he could retain some of the cold, more scottish elements, while having a youthful element of fun that was present in Tennant and Smiths eras. 

#3 - David Harewood

Harewood is perhaps the most well known actor on this list and has appeared in the show before. He is no spring chicken but he is able to portray years of experience with great ease and he could play an older doctor who is more warm and fatherly as opposed to the more cold and calculated stylings of Capaldi.

#4 - Elizabeth Henstridge 

My fourth entry is the other half of FitzSimons, Henstridge has proved repeatedly that she can portray vast intelligence in a quirky and respectable manner, she can be strong and independent but also at times, emotional and vulnerable.

#5 - John Hannah 

My last pick is a considerably safe pick, who might have been more viable had Capaldi’s run been more successful. Hannah is unboundedly similar to Capaldi, in mannerisms and ability, if Capaldi's decision to leave has come relatively late in the game and the series had been planned out with Capaldi in mind then Hannah might be a viable pick.   Honorable Mentions (No Particular Order)

I don’t think people realize how much of an impact this kind of support can have, I don’t think everyone knows what these little things can mean to us.

It may just be me, I don’t know. But every single time I see this on my dash or on someone’s blog or anywhere else, I kind of just breathe a sigh of relief. That’s one more person who cares. That’s one more person who doesn’t hate me.

Because it means so much, especially when all the media is spewing out is that I’m a terrible person and no one wants people like me near them. It means so much because I’m tired of people who won’t sit next to me in class, or who choose to join the longer line at the grocery store because they don’t want to be beside me and my family. It means so much when I have to lift my head any time someone says the words Islam or Muslim because I’m scared that they’ll say something that’ll hurt, when I have to pay attention to the news because who knows what so and so is saying now, who knows which of my people are being attacked now, who knows what’s going to happen to me now.

It means so much because I’ve been given the idea that the world is against me. And a huge part of it may be, but at least I’ve been reminded that some of it, just a small group of people, acknowledges that I’m a person too. That people like me are just that, people.

Maybe it’s just me, I don’t know. But now you do, so thank you for believing that I’m human when so many people don’t.
