Kagu-tsuchi and Kurayamatsumi

Father and Daughter

Tsumi is the only one of Kagu's children to have already met her father. The nature of her powers allows her passage to Yomi through its waters. Shortly after her older brother Zuchi defeated Amatsu-Mikaboshi with Futsu-nushi's help, Tsumi decided to use that ability to meet her father. When she found out he was being hunted, she promised him that she would keep him safe while he was by the water.

As the centuries went by, and it became harder and harder for Kagu to feel anything, Tsumi promised him that Mizu would bring him back, and save him. However, when Kagu finally told her that there was probably nothing left to save, Tsumi made a desperate gamble, one that cost her what little sight she had. She went to Izanami to ask her to release Kagu, and in response the dead goddess burned her granddaughter's eyes with some of Kagu's fire, and attempted to use her as bait to draw her son to her. It worked, but when Kagu saw what she had done to his daughter, he burned her palace to the ground in rage. Once they got out, Kagu made Tsumi promise not to return to Yomi again. He hasn't seen her since then.

Mizu's relationship with the two children who inherited Kagu's power has not been as close as she would like. She holds a few regrets towards the twin fire gods, and wonders if she had been closer to them, could she have prevented them from becoming protective gods instead. 

And maybe if she knew them better, she would understand why they chose to speak against reviving their father.

Aunt and Nephew

Mizu's feelings towards Zuchi have become a bit complicated recently. The first time she met her nephew, (not counting at his birth) Zuchi was badly injured, having just defeated Amatsu-Mikaboshi. Even with her and Wata working together, they nearly lost him. Zuchi's somewhat reckless behavior after did not help, and Mizu probably worries more over him than all his siblings combined. The fact that Zuchi seems to not worry about himself at all has landed him on the receiving end of more than a few angry lectures. Zuchi has never held this against his aunt, as he understands that it's just her way of showing that she cares.

However, Mizu is not sure if she's willing to forgive him for speaking against reviving Kagu. Since he was willing to admit that he was wrong, she's leaning more towards it, but it still stung a little when he didn't go along with the plan.

Aunt and Nephew

Because of how similar their powers are, Mizu is the closest to Wata, of Kagu's children. She had slightly more of a grasp on her powers than him, and taught him what she knew. She kept the dragon god company when he needed it, and he returned the favor when the empty hole that Kagu was supposed to fill got too much for her.
