Vimm's Lair: Preserving the Classics

Preserving classic videogames from consoles past.

I'm just gonna slide this on in here for anyone that is interested in preserving old games. They take it very seriously too, they want an archive of every single game. Like, they have lists of every game ever released for a system, and once that system gets old enough, they add it to their archive and start collecting. Their latest addition was the Xbox 360, they opened that vault up in September 2022, and proudly announced they'd finished their collection of games for it back in April.

Also, while their game archives are almost entirely complete, they've got another project of archiving the manuals that came with those games, and that is... considerably less well filled out. Their collection of Xbox 360 manuals is especially rough, they've only gotten manuals for three games. So if you've got some Xbox 360 games kicking around, and the manual's still with them, please consider scanning them and submitting them to the site!

Game preservation is important, but people rarely consider preserving the manuals as well; I really respect Vimm's Lair for being so thorough in their archival work.

Looked at your knight and wolf au comic again and realized something. While Khaos served the queen honorably, his ears were upright. But as madness came, they gradually drooped. Which leads me to think. Did he purposefully stop perking them up and let them lay beside his head so he could drown out the cries of those he has slaughtered? So the sound of countless deaths was diffused? We know his ears are still functional because when phainon calls him he raises one up.

Guh... do you think reaver will be brave enough to use both his ears just to hear phainon's laughter more clearly one day?

my thought abt his (droopy) ears were:

his ears were proud and upright and he was the greatest hunter; having amazing hearing and tracking his prey by sound combined w his amazing sense of smell, no prey, no enemy could escape the black clad knight once he was chasing them. he was a great protector

ever since the destruction of his home he hears the murmurs of the black tide all around on bad days (bc of his corruption) and its overstimulating and misleading and frankly maddening so he protects his hearing (and the bit of his sanity left) by covering his ears (thats also why he often wears his hood over them by now)

blocking out the noise makes him focus more on the smells for his hunts (like w diff dog breeds) so compared to his past, he now hunts mostly on scent alone

also just a visualization of the sadness and pain weighing on him that it flattens his ears

(like in canon his eyesight is bad so he relies mostly on his nose and notices the slightest changes, hearing is second bc the corruption sometimes misleads him)

he often raises one (or even both a slight bit) around phainon to take everything of him in (also shows his utmost attention/alertness completely on him) - i think if he raises both in excitement phai might be absolutely delighted kjasbckj
