There are just so many charming little things in ace attorney that I love so much.

Everyone's ridiculous pun names? The fact the first guy you meet in the whole series is named Larry Buttz? The fact that Larry Buttz is a recurring plot-relevant character? People complained about "Herlock Sholmes" as a name, but I think that's the most ace attorney-ass name possible and i will defend it until the day i die

The way the same witnesses keep coming back! There are new people in each game and story, but you get to see that Adrian Andrews is doing better, that Wendy Oldbag is still the same, that Will Powers got a new job... it's so sweet. It makes the original trilogy feel like such a connected world.

The fact that the series was started 20 years ago and was meant to take place in a "distant future" of 2016? So there's this campy and ridiculous dichotomy of Phoenix using a brick phone while Athena has hologram technology in the same scene? The way they fully accept this and play it up is so funny and gives the series so much charm!

The way that the whole series is so campy and over-the-top but still grounded is just so sweet. It's about ghosts and magic and ridiculous impossible murders, but it has this core of found family and love and hope.

The protagonists are always the only ones that notice it too! It's so funny to see something ridiculous happen and then phoenix or apollo thinks "Wow that's fucking weird." and then keep moving on! It's so fun and I love these games so much.

And the setting!!! This is exclusive to the U.S releases but the weird Japanifornia setting is so funny and charming? It's ridiculous, but it works and nobody bothers questioning it anymore. Why is there a Yakuza in California? Why is there an ancient spirit medium practice? Well why the fuck not?

and little things! Franziska calling Miles her little brother? Trucy and Phoenix effortlessly yes-and-ing each other and confusing Apollo? Simon Blackquill being a fucking medieval samurai for shits and giggles? Maya looking at empty bowls and saying "damn they sure ate a lot of burgers here!"?? The fact that in-universe a legal system-themed rock band is incredibly popular? The way the blue badger is just fucking everywhere, for some reason? The fact that the translators keep making people german even though there are no german characters in the original Japanese version? The Breakdown sprites In general?!?!?!!!!

Ace attorney is so ridiculous and funny and it makes me cry. it's such a good game please play it if you havent

Don’t join the army to get free college. First two years of community college is free. Peace corps and Americorps have scholarships and student loan forgiveness programs for their volunteers. If you’re not rich you probably qualify for Pell grants. Go to a state college. They teach you the same things they do at fancy colleges. Sometimes there’s scholarships for people of a certain background. Ethnicity. Sexuality. Gender. Religion. Go to a grad school that’ll give you free tuition for working there as a teacher or assistant. Become a stripper or something. Just don’t join the army.

If you want to do something structured and physical for a few years and see the world like do a working holiday in Australia or something. Join the peace corps and do some agricultural work with them. Volunteer with some other overseas organization that’s setting up infrastructure in poor countries. Spend a summer in Alaska working in fishing or Arctic tourism. See if you qualify to be a United Nations volunteer. Work on a ranch. Become an apprentice to a welder or electrician. Train to become a ship captain. Just don’t join the army.
