“When I was sleeping on those couches, I used to walk into my office every day and turn to my partner. I was like, 20.
I would turn to him and say, Kenny, we're millionaires. They just haven't paid us yet.
You got to believe in the end of your story. You have to believe in the end of the story this week, man.
Think about the words that you speak in your house, what your kids say. I'm not good at football, No. We're getting better at football. We're putting energy in to get better at football. I'm not a good reader. No. We're working hard to become a better reader. That stuff matters, man.”
- Jesse Itzler
If there is only one tip you should incorporate into your daily life, that is simply taking action.
If you wish to attract a more sophisticated and curated life, you have to take the steps necessary to get there. Simply thinking of such life will not bring you there and I am so tired of this agenda.
You have to put the effort and energy into the life you want and deserve, and you should not settle for less. Build those habits that will benefit you in the long term, learn what can concretely transform your life and apply all those qualities to your current self.
In no way, shape or form does God or the Universe wish you to struggle. God and the Universe, however, respond with the same energy you put into your life. Make that energy higher in quality and watch how great your life will become.

Question: is there anywhere I can find resources/guides for how to write image descriptions? I’d like to go back and add them to my art and I’d like to not do a shitty job at description
A really good resource for describing art is Cooper Hewitt Guidelines for Image Description. A good general resource is Perkin's School for the Blind How to Write Alt Text and Image Descriptions for the visually impaired.
On tumblr things are a little different. Some people prefer alt text, some prefer it in the caption below. Personally for art I think the most accessible option is a brief description in the alt text and a detailed description in the caption.
A small note that's rarely discussed outside of tumblr is that alt text isn't accessible to everyone. Many people who require image descriptions use programs that enlarge text, invert colours, change fonts, etc, and even with alt text now being visible, it's not always enhanced by their accessibility aids
On tumblr specifically, the four biggest mistakes I see are:
Writing descriptions in small text. This is not accessible, full stop. Someone who needs larger text won't be able to read the small text, defeating the purpose of the description in the first place
Putting a description under a readmore. This is also just straight up ableist no matter how you slice it. For one, if you deactivate or change your url, the readmore link breaks. That's right, if you decide you're done being lawbreaker-extraordinaire and decide to change your url to we-stay-silly, all your descriptions are now inaccessible! Secondly, forcing disabled people to jump through extra hoops to access what everyone else can is ableist. It's like if public buildings had their ramps around the backs of the buildings or only let people use elevators by asking staff to unlock them every time. Some people put descriptions under readmores to reduce post length, but as tumblr users have always been able to filter the long post tag and tumblr now automatically shortens long posts, there's really no excuse for this anymore
Putting the descriptions long after the image theure describing. Keep them right under the image so people who need them have context for whatever you say next
Not actually labelling their descriptions. Sometimes if people are transcribing, say, a tweet or a Facebook post, they'll just transcribe the text of the post below. Problem is, without labelling that these are descriptions, sometimes they're impossible to distinguish from commentary on a post. Just label them to make it clear what it is
I haven't posted here in 2 years, but i'm sick of Instagram and i'm too old to TikTok. Who is still on here? :)

Skip Google for Research
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse. It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable. As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
⁂
Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free
painting made easier
[Audio Transcript:
Do you want to paint but pain, disability, limited range of motion or tremors are getting in the way of that?
It’s world watercolor month and disability pride month, so let’s combine the two and talk about ways that you can watercolor and make it a little easier on yourself.
First up, if you struggle with grip issues, some manufacturers like Blick will actually make some of their brushes with egg shaped handles.
These are typically easier to hold, but they do come in a limited range of options so you can get something like one of these egg shaped pencil holders that will do more or less the same thing. These are just a bit easier to hold and they can reduce hand fatigue.
Next up, if you struggle with something like tremors or shaking, weight is your friend. There are universal weighted handles that you can slip onto the end and tighten on your brush or whatever you’re using as long as it fits in, and it adds a bunch of weight to the back end of it so it reduces the amount of shaking that’s possible.
If you struggle with grip strength or need something to help you hold onto something, this is an easy ring writer clip, and you can slot your brush into it and even if you’re not gripping it tightly it’s still secured to your hand.
Another option is something like this, this is an easy grip. It’s a silicone attachment that you can place on that give you an extra handle and extra security for holding your brushes and other art tools.
And finally one of my favorite tools is this artist leaning bridge. Mine is an acrylic piece of plastic that just sits over the top and allows you to rest on top while you can paint underneath it.
