Of course he had to run into someone that was a bit more of a pain to deal with. The other’s anger didn’t make the boy step back, or show any sort of fear. Instead, it was more of a curiosity then anything. There was a time that he did meet a dragon. Though it was small enough to rest on top of the boy’s head. As if his hair needed attention then it already received.
“Didn’t think you would have been the sensitive kind. Alright, fine. At least I was asking before assuming anything of you.” Neku had to at least give props to himself for considering all options. Or the options that came to the top of his head. Though the confuse question allow the boy to raise a brow. That was a can of worms that would be best stayed closed.
“Uh… Lets just say it’s people that dress up as their favorite character from a show or game. I’m not a part of that, but you can’t blame me if I thought you were just a guy with fake wings.” The only wings he would have been familiar with, were the ones the Reapers had playing their game. “So don’t start getting heated up for asking something that sounds ridiculous to you.”
the dragon’s confusion doesn’t quite lift, and he responds to the boy’s tepid answer with narrowed eyes, as though scrutinizing him to see if he’s trying to make a fool out of him. a ‘ show ’ or ‘ game ’? what in the heavens and earth is the purpose of that? in his limited interactions with the human race, he has seen them don elaborate costumes for many occasions before, some celebratory and some not. and he is familiar with their habit of putting on little fictional stories for amusement, or the purpose of passing on tales and knowledge to their descendants. he can only assume it is something similar.
❝ ... i see. perhaps you ought to consider your ignorance before speaking, ❞ he replies, needled by the boy’s audacious and dismissive demeanor. ❝ although if you have never met a dragon before, then i suppose i can’t blame you. i assure you, these wings are very much real. ❞
