I was never a superwholock or a riseofthebravetangleddragons fan or whatever so I don't know if this is normal for crossover fandoms but I do find it kind of strange that every single bloodymary fic goes with "Simon just shows up one day/Sumon's submarine is found floating in space" instead of like. Just properly combining the 'verses?

Simon even has a whole speech about how he thinks people get the Quiet Rapture backwards -- every single planet and star is still in their original places; it was the space stations that were moved.

So why not go with that? Grace is still a teacher on Earth but he's a teacher on Earth in a reality where humanity colonized the stars, and the Astrophage thing happens as a late-term side-effect of the Quiet Rapture. In order to solve the Astrophage problem, Grace and Rocky need to trace it back to its source, which is in the world the space stations were taken to.

They find Simon, they rescue the humans stranded in the other reality, they retire comfortably in Erid like in canon.

It just feels like a much cleaner and neater solution than awkwardly slamming one character into another's universe.

The most interesting question you can ask about any character is not what do they want. it's what do they believe they deserve. because those two things are almost never the same and the gap between them is where your entire story lives. a person can want love completely and believe they don't deserve it and that belief will destroy every good thing that comes toward them in ways they won't even notice they're doing. write the gap. the gap is the character.
