I cant get this movie out of my head. Especially this one recurring symbol so here are some of my thoughts on what it represents. Also, if you havenât seen the movie, please do yourself a favor.
Every thematic shift and revelation in the movie is preceded by a prolonged red traffic light. In those scenes, the redness of the traffic light is inescapable and flushes the whole screen red. It renders Collin powerless as he waits to move forward. But, the traffic light only allows him to pass after he witnesses three dramatic plot shifts, the murder, the ignored memorial, and the final scene with Miles and Collin.
I think itâs just beautiful to think that perhaps every moment in life we find ourselves in front of a stoplight, no amount of frustration or aggression will that stoplight turn green. Perhaps that stubborn traffic light (whatever it may represent) knows better; it knows that we should only move forward once we witness something unforgettable or experience a revelation that is detrimental to our own plot lines.
Under that philosophy, weâve never been stuck in our lives- we just werenât ready to move forward.
I think I'm falling for youđł

SNL saw people saying we shouldnât joke about Trump right now and said, âNoted. Hereâs 10 different Trump COVID jokes,â and I truly love that for them.
I havent seen this posted on here yet so.

For those just entering the Hamilton fandom thanks to Disney+
1)Welcome!
2) before you start with the âwoke hot takesâ about Hamilton, we have already had all of these conversations. Please donât make us go back.
A) the characters in the musical are far from accurate portrayals of the founding fathers.
B) you can acknowledge that the real historical figure was racist/homophobic/misogynistic etc. And still like the musical
C)the musical is NOT historically accurate. Lin acknowledges it in many interviews and in the Hamiltome (the book about the making of the musical) for example: the Schuylers had more than three daughters, the Hamiltonâs has more than two children, Angelica was already married prior to meeting Hamilton, it is more than likely that Hamilton, Laurens, Lafayette, and Mulligan were never actually in the same place at once... I can go on.
D) if Hamilton the musical has sparked your interest in learning what really happened, thatâs good. Donât let people bully you out of learning because of the catalyst of your interest.
Please. You can romanticize the Broadway characters. You can identify with the Broadway character. But if I see âThomas Jefferson did nothing wrong uwuâ in the tags again, Iâm going to lose my shit.

Okay? Cool.
âwe have already had those conversations, please donât make us go backâ
okay so you made great points but THAT^ is both terrifying and infuriating. literally how can you possibly think that because you had a conversation four years ago, you donât have to pay any attention to it anymore. the fact that hamilton portrays slave owners and humanizes them is such a valid argument that CANNOT be overlooked or fixed unless the whole show is or rewritten (diverse casting is a beautiful choice, but not strong enough to stand alone). the racism is THAT inherent. since rewriting the problem is impossible, conversations always need to happen; you can never âgo backâ because as long as hamilton remains on broadway, the conversation CANNOT be over.

the progression of secrecy from 1989 to folklore really went from "no one has to know what we do" to "your love is a secret i'm hoping, dreaming, dying to keep" to "i don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you" to just sing "i would die for you in secret." i guess that's the thing about illicit affairs and clandestine meetings an-
