"get home safe" is a spell and i am casting it on all of you ✨
May Dionysus grant you swift mental recovery.
🧵 THREAD: This #PrideMonth, don’t forget that the fight for queer liberation didn’t start or end with marriage equality.
💪✨ We need to keep fighting for our rights.
Here’s are a few examples:
💋 Before the 2003 Supreme Court ruling in Lawrence v. Texas, same-smex smexual activity was illegal in fourteen U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. military
👶 Before 2015, LGBTQ+ couples couldn’t adopt in all 50 states. Before the Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, laws varied wildly by state.
🏳️🌈 Before 1973, the American Psychiatric Association listed homosmexuality as a ‘mental illness.’ In December 1973, a vote was successfully held to remove it.
🗳️ Before 1974, there were no openly gay elected officials. That changed with Kathy Kozachenko, who became the first openly gay American elected to public office in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
🎖️ Before 2011, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” banned LGBTQ+ people from serving openly in the military.
💍 Before 2015, LGBTQ+ couples couldn’t get married in all 50 states. At the time, laws varied by state, and while many states allowed for civil unions for same-sex couples, it created a separate but equal standard.
💼 Before 2020, employers could legally discriminate against queer and trans employees. It wasn’t until the U.S. Supreme Court held that an employer who fires or otherwise discriminates against an individual simply for being gay or transgender is in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The Song of My People, Who are Threatened
•
I'm angry
I'm appalled
I'm scared
I'm terrified
I'm prayed more prayers for my safety, and the safety of every other person part of marginalized group, in the last couple months than I did the entire time I was being abused
I've prayed more in the last couple months for safety, justice, and retribution than I did in the 7 years, 4 months, and 3 days I was abused
I've prayed to any God I hoped may listen, including the one that had abandoned me in my time of need
It's taken me damn near 2 hours to write this, 2 hours to get this far through my rage, my sadness, the sorrow, the fear, the terror of what is to come
People are being pulled from their homes, their schools, their jobs, their churches, their hospitals
It doesn't matter if these people are here "legally" or not, they're being kidnapped and trafficked and held in concentration camps
Last I checked, misdemeanors don't get you trafficked
Last I checked, this was supposed to be a nation of freedom for all--- regardless of citizen status
The basic rights every human should be afforded
Human rights that the current establishment is pulling out from under our feet so fast we don't even have time to land and dust ourselves off from the impact
We're locked in a tail-spin
They think they have us backed in a corner, corralled in the pit of despair; and maybe they do, maybe right now they do
But I still have hope, that's the one thing they can't take through all the horror
I'm scared, terrified, but I have hope
Hope that one day, hopefully sooner rather than later, I don't have to worry for the safety of my community, for myself
I'm not an immigrant, or the child of immigrants, but I stand with them just the same
Because when they are gone, the next community on the chopping block may be one that I belong to

never underestimate the power of:
• eating fruits and veggies
• going outside
• opening your windows and letting the fresh air in
• cuddling with your pet
• catching up with your sibling or parent
• complimenting someone you don’t know
• exercising
• journaling
• cleaning out your fridge and cabinets
• listening to happy music
• putting yourself first
• making and eating a home cooked meal
• washing the dishes/putting the dishes away
• washing/brushing your hair
you know what, shoutout to the neurodivergent people with "scary" symptoms.
the ones who:
-say dark things without realizing
-talk to themselves
-have homicidal thoughts
-get really, really angry
-make others uncomfortable on accident
-don't tolerate bullshit
-can't/won't mask
-have dark interests
-have genuinely hurt others before
-have been in a psych ward before
-obsess over people
-have intrusive thoughts about hurting people
-have sexual intrusive thoughts
-don't really care about others much
-always choose themselves first
-have low/no empathy
-are seen as creepy or scary by others
this goes out to my folks with autism that isn't "uwu cute". personality disorder havers. schizospec people. ocders. odd and ied havers. and anyone and everyone else.
this post does not support intentionally hurting people. but people who have hurt others in the past and have changed or are trying to change/in the process of changing are more than welcome here.
Holy shit there are so many birds
reblogging because apparently people missed it! The Birds have claimed the sacrifice this year look, you can see wires showing through on the horns already:

The crows have claimed the YULE GOAT.
A gentle reminder that everyone handles the holidays differently. For a lot, the holidays bring reminders of trauma or are otherwise triggering.
For some, it’s hard and they don’t want to celebrate or think about it.
For others, they might throw themselves into them as a way to cope or reclaim them.
Both are valid and anything else is valid too. You aren’t wrong for your feelings around the holidays, whatever they are.
my mom said we can hide in the woods, cast ancient spells, be embraced by moss and befriend eldritch creatures if it's ok with your mom
I wish everyone who was ever into knock down drag out fandom fights would direct all that energy towards their city council, I feel like that would transform society overnight.
like. You know how if you keep tabs on council meetings and your councilor says something dumb as hell and you not only get to call them on it, but grab all your friends to dogpile them??? and if you do it enough you can actually find a replacement for them who won’t say as much dumb shit and will actually allocate funds for the unhoused and pressure the police chief to stop lying? wayyyyyy more fun than going uncorked at some teenage rando with an untagged incest ship.
#I guarantee your city councilor is so much weirder than your online nemesis (via @magnesiumflare)
one time i was at a city council meeting where the chief of police and the mayor got into a screaming match, because the mayor had picked up and thrown out trash in someone's yard (an open, half-empty bottle of antifreeze (poisonous) that had been sitting out for months and it was now July) and the chief of police arrested him for trespassing and theft, and the mayor had to bail himself out of jail in order to attend the city council meeting.
You want drama? You want fic inspiration? You want to have an immediate impact on the world? local politics is your answer
As a highly involved member (arguably even a SMOF) of my local politics fandom, I cosign every word of this.
i would be the worst augur ever the birds could be in all the wrong quadrants and the omens could be damning but i'd be like damn you saw a bird? thats a good sign...love to see a bird
what if i *remembers that making suicide jokes is not conducive with my goal of improving the wellbeing of myself and everyone around me* transform into an oyster
