âYeah, this seatâs open if yâwant it. Donât worry, I promise I donât bite â or feed over used lines like that very often,â he jokes, wolfish grin creeping into his visage.
âThatâs not what they said.â Florence smirked, turning her head to a group of whispering Gryffindorâs before taking a place beside him. âAny idea why theyâd be so cautious, hmm
âYouâd think that I would have learned how to cast a simple blasting curse, yet I still managed to accidentally incinerate my shoe lacesâhe says with a laugh, âThat being said, would you know where I might be able to find another pair?â
âPlease! Thereâs no need to head down to hogsmeade just yet.â Florence laughed, looking down at the ashes between them before sliding to the ground, wand in hand as she scraped the incinerated bits into a pile. âI used to be a bit of a pyromaniac and magic was only an enabler so first year I had to learn a few tricks to save myself from being expelled for destruction of property. Or at least, thatâs what they kept threatening me with.âÂ

Cedrella paused in her strolling, the familiar voice pulling out a thread of anger from within her chest. Bitterness spread spread through her like wild fire, burning away any prior emotion and leaving behind only rage. Her fingers gripped onto the strap of her bag, growing pale in color due to the force she did it with. âAhâ! Is that what you call it then â Florence?â The name is a curse from her lips, dripping with distaste. âCooling off?â
Making another turn around the fountain, Florence didnât need to look to place Cedrella with the newest voice. Fists clenching and brows furrowing for just a moment, Florence exhaled slowly before turning to set eyes on the woman, her bitterness as plain as day. Florence, on the other hand, managed to keep her features cool. âNow, Red, just because youâre afraid to live a little doesnât mean the rest of us should be. Are you afraid you might get your pretty robes wet, hmm?âÂ
apollomalfoy:
âWhy drink pumpkin juice when you can just get hit in the face with a quafffle & feel the same way?â
âWell, thatâs understandable with how it comes out of the kitchens but donât knock all pumpkin juice until youâve tried my recipe.âÂ
Even after a full rotation of seasons at Hogwarts, she hardly knew where anything was, guided solely by strategic reasoning to her various classrooms and courtyards and common rooms â Astronomy was likely to be in a tower, Care of Magical Creatures just as likely, outside, and the Ravenclaws, were also predictably high in elevation. However, this was one of those in-between times, gaze flickering between a fork in the hallway as she anticipated where her Arithmancy class might be. That was, until a sensation distracted her, the knocking of somebody into her â h a r d, books flying from her hands. Yet, the only sound from her was resonantly dead, âOh.â
Florence knew the corridors like the back of her hand. Sheâd spent hours on hours memorizing them, her fingers running over head stone and tile. So, naturally, she knew the easiest way to get away from unwanted company and in this case, she hardly looked back as her feet drew her further and further away from the angry castle ghost sheâd been annoying. She was only knocked back as a force hit her -- or rather, she hit them. âMerlin! Iâm sorry - I uh, I - here, come on.â Florence scrambled, bending down to gather up the books that fell to the ground before grabbing the girls arm without a second thought and pulling her behind a tapestry. âIâm sorry, here, can you just -- wait a moment.â Florence said in a quick whisper, eyes peaking out from the fabric to watch the exasperated ghost hurry through the right corridor and out of sight.Â
âI ate so many Chocolate Frogs I donât even know if my broomstick will be able to lift me off the ground at practice later.â
âSo youâre the reason I couldnât find any in the kitchens.âÂ
Oliver was trying his best to ignore the girl that was speaking to him. Frankly, he didnât really care what she had to say. It wasnât until she got up and stepped into the fountain that she grabbed his attention. His eyes shot up from the book he was reading to watch her movements. âCool off? Itâs autumn. Itâs already quite cool out.â He sighed and turned his attention back to his book. âIâm perfectly fine right where I am.â
âWhat can I say? Iâve always run a bit hotter than most.â She laughed, circling in the fountain as her grin spread. She was sure more eyes fell on them as the seconds passed but Florence didnât mind. She was far too set on persuading the boy in front of her. So, sitting down in the water on her knees, Florence peered over the stone rimming at him. âWhat are you reading? It looks old, is it old? Iâd imagine so by the cover. Is it for class? Please tell me youâre not already trying to get ahead. The year has barely begun and if you keep your nose stuck in that book itâll just fly by even faster before you can enjoy it.âÂ
âOh, Florence, youâll catch your death! Itâs not that warm, you hardly need to go splashing about in fountains to cool off!â
âLucky, come on. If you sit around worrying about death itâll only come that much quicker. Plus, Iâm sure youâll nurse me back to health.â Florence laughed, bending down only to cup water in her hands and splash the brunette.Â
Thalia could not believe her eyes as she read the letter that had just come in for her, dead, her mother was dead. It seemed as though it had only been yesterday when the woman had brought her to the train-station for yet another year of Hogwarts, and now? She was lost forever. Tears began to roll down her cheeks, and the petite blonde began to move faster in an attempt to get away from the people walking about. Her sight had become so blurry that she ran straight into someone, sending her back a bit, âIâm so sorryââ she managed to say rather distraught.Â
âCarstairs!â Florence beamed loudly, her tone light and eyes vibrant as excitement washed over her at the sight of the blonde. It faded quickly, though, and worry replaced the space in her heart as she looked at the girl. âThalia, please, let me help you. What happened? Donât - donât run off, let me help you.âÂ
âWhaaaaaaat? Iâm napping here!â
âOh! Sorry! I was just making sure you were breathing, thatâs all. You were very still!â
Sheâd been eyeing the fountain for a good five minutes before Florence decided to make her move. As if the conversation sheâd been having seconds before simply melted away, she hopped over the stone rimming and laughed as water soaked into her robes, a chill coming over her flushed legs and a smile pulling at her lips. âDonât have a heart attack. I just want to cool off. Come on, hop in, the waterâs great.â
