Crochet Donations
Hereās the run-down on stuff Iāve crocheted to donate to homeless folks through Food Not Bombs DC!Ā
Donated on 2/6:Ā
17 hats, 2 pairs of mittens, 1 scarf
Itās getting warm in DC so Iām holding off on donating the winter gear Iām making. Iāll start donating them again when it cools off this fall!
Hereās how much Iāve made by 4/16:
1 blanket, 9 hats, 2 pairs of mittens, 1 scarf
Iāve also learned how to repair shoes so I repaired two old pairs of boots to donate this fall as well!
Update:Ā
Yesterday (12/17) I donated 19 hats, 1 blanket, 4 pairs of mittens, and 5 scarves I made!
resources
Hmmm. Looks like there is a drive here containing practical resources on
gardening and small scale agriculure;
foraging and preserving;
knitting, crochet, and sewing;
organising!
AND more theory-ish readings on:
Sustainable development;
Ecological imperialism and food sovreignety;
climate grief and the psychology of sustainability.
& also there is a ko-fi link attached to it.
How cool!
New design up on my redbubble!Ā
Have you seen any resources for making a spinning wheel?
Hereās the first good tutorial I could find, though I donāt really know much about the craft or what youāre looking for so idk if that works. Most of the DIY designs Iāve seen, including this one, are just a bike wheel and some wood, so if you use a reclaimed pallet and an old bike someoneās trying to throw away (check freecycle) then you can put it together for close to free
Hope this helps!
Start with a drop spindle. There are different kinds from all over the world and every culture. They may not be as fast as a wheel, but you can make one very quickly and a person can learn to use them in minutes. Six people spinning on drop spindles are going to get you more usable yarn than one person taking a year to tinker a wheel into functioning. Making the huge leap of engineering and technology that is the spinning wheel is hard. If youāre set on making your own, check on the Indian Charkha, it is a very nearly perfect design for individual construction, can be made from found materials, and can be used for short and long staple fibers. They are simple to repair and, while learning to use them can involve a learning curve, mastery is attainable through practice.
Just wanted to share that thereās an etsy shop that makes 3D printed parts forĀ Charkha spinning wheels. They cost about $30 and require some degree of handiness because you have to assemble it but it sounds a lot easier than making a wheel from scratch
so can we start hunting down white liberals now or what
The full picture is even more heart breaking after you open the uncropped version. Just a heads-up, it's rough
āThe Roman Catholic Parish in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was just grafitted.ā
Nah letās post it. Letās feel it. Donāt look away.
I notice alot of my followers on here skipping these posts just to mess with my lgbt ones, suspiciously the white popular ones.
Heres a not so friendly reminder, as an lgbt metis person, i dont give a single fuck what your blog is themed or if this is too painful for you to look at. Reblog this post. Reblog this post with the sources of the 751 children who were found.
Your compliance and silence as well as the compliance and silence of your ancestors is what allowed these schools to open and kill first nations children. The children of MY people.
Dont follow me if you cant reblog this post or the one with sources to your political blog or your most popular blog. Add trigger warnings if you must but if your political blog is only focused on the harms you personally face like being lgbt then you need to see some bigger pictures and stop being afraid of angering your racist mutural or actually saying some shit about racism. If you can reblog some antifa graphics or add blm to your bio to be a surface level ally, you can reblog some sources on the genocide first nations people faced and still face today.
They were CHILDREN.
They were murdered in cold blood.
Iād like to add this photo I took last night in Victoria of the statue of Captain Cook. Though I myself am not indigenous, I 100% agree that these murderers, kidnappers and rapists shouldnāt have huge statues and plaques that decorate them and say how āgreatā they were.
Hereās another photo of the legislative assembly from yesterday. Later on there were more items, candles and signs at the memorial, as well as a big poster with 1505 painted on it but I didnāt get a picture
People need to see this. Not just quickly glance at the photos and keep on scrolling. They need to see this.
Reblog this or just stop following me
Resources for Mending Clothes
We toss out over 80 pounds of textiles each year. These textiles are often made of plastic materials (polyester, nylon), made in unethical conditions, dyed with harsh dyes that often get put into the rivers, etc. Even a single cotton shirt releases carbon emissions and uses tons of water.Ā
So the best thing to prevent the unsustainable growth of the fashion industry is to make sure that your clothing lasts as long as possible. To do so, mending clothing is a must. So here are some resources to help you learn how to do various things, such as sewing a button, to tailoring clothes, or even upcycling old clothing into new styles.Ā
* How to sew on three different types of button
* How to hand sew on a patch on a torn pair of jeans
* How to sew up a hole in an old shirt
* How to sew a simple T-shirt
* How to upcycle old clothing into new clothing
* More upcycle and sewing techniques
* How to repair a damaged sock
* How to do an invisible stitch
* 3 different stitches to work with for different results
* How to make a T-shirt smaller so it fits you better
* How to make repairs to your shoes
These are just a few of the things that you can do in order to make sure that your clothing lasts for a long time. Nobody wants to keep buying new clothing, as it is expensive and wasteful.Ā
So making alterations to your clothing, or fixing small holes hen you see them can be hugely beneficial to your wallet, to garment workers, and to the environment in the long term.Ā

If you like what I write, consider buying from:
My Etsy shop for upcycled bags, jewelry, and crafting supplies.
Or
My poshmark for reclaimed clothing.
Many people have asked questions, so I decided that I should answer them to the best of my ability! Ā So letās see what people are asking!
How to make small clothes bigger, or short clothes longer
This question was asked a lot, for instance, Celestriankle and Drachenstocther are at least two users who asked this, and this is a great question! Often you see how to make large clothing smaller, but not the other way around.
Here are some resources on that:
Shirts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isy2xwFYihQ
Jeans/pants https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2s4TnNcbgEU
Mostly this is done by just adding a wedge of extra fabric between the seams, and this can make youtr clothes last and fit you, even if you fluctuate in your weight.
Here is a resource about adding more butt to your pants:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG_QnEL9xYI
When it comes to repairing the crotch of jeans, which is what anyone with thick thighs know all too well the irritation of, there are a few ways that you can do that. For instance:
Patching: Ā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h90nYzbDFdE
Darning: Ā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMsm6wyjF8E
This question was asked by user CleanLinens and Bovel.
One person, OnYourGoat, asked about resources for people who cannot thread a needles, The good news with this, is that there are needles out there that you do not have to thread if you have vision issues. These are called Self Threading needles.
Also, there were a few tips by users on how to make your sewing more sustainable. User SaveATruckRideAnOptimus-Prime states that you can get blankets and table-cloths from the thrift shop (something I often do myself) in order to have fabric to make your own clothing.
This is even more sustainable if you are choosing cotton, wool, or linen fabrics.
The last thing to mention is that user AssassinationTipsForLadies says:
āthere is a great sewing instructor on YouTube called Evelyn Wood who has a whole bunch of videos on mending and the construction of old clothes.ā
Let me know if you have any more questions or tips!
If you donāt have a sewing machine and done want to buy one, do check with your local library as itās becoming more and more common for libraries to rent out things like sewing machines and other expensive but useful items. If yours doesnāt, expressing interest in a ālibrary of thingsā could well be the motivation your library needs to get one going.
Fabric stores sometimes rent out machines too so check if you have one near by.
And if youāve got any sewing/knitting clubs or places like the WI that are popular with old women, you will absolutely be able to find someone who will gladly let you use their machine and teach you how.
If you have older family members ask them about sewing cause chances are theyād love to teach you
If you need supplies on the cheap, check out local estate sales.Ā I will never have to buy new hand stitching needles thanks to someoneās sweet grandmother who loved to quilt.
Who tossed out 80lbs a year? Is that meant for the average household? That sounds like way too little for a country or something but too much for one person.
Yes, that is 80 pounds per person, per year. In the US, Canada, and the UK at least.
sometimes I decide I hate my furniture and repaint all of it
Eat Trash Patch (handpainted and made from recycled materials)
Well I personally don't like seeing straight men enjoy male fantasies so Rita and Tessa need to drop taiki and get a third girl or just be lesbians together
Rita and Tessa are both bisexual lol so they can't be lesbians regardless of whether a man is involved
idc about Taika Waititi but two women in a relationship with a man and EACH other in REAL life are not a male fantasy they're real people. bisexual women can be in polyamorous relationships without it being to exist for a man's fantasy in particular lmfao and to think otherwise is misogynistic as fuck.
Why can't you jackals just let bi people exist
Hey you!

Accusations of anarchism as a āwhite ideologyā erases its application of struggling peoples around the world, many of whom are of color.
Non-Western Anarchisms is a good read for folks who want a starting point for learning about some specific movements.
indigenous anarchist Aragorn! also has some good pieces on this very topic, and theyāre great
Hereās some literature about anarchism in China, Korea and Japan.
Also, the Southeast Asian section of The Anarchist Library also recently launched.
Iād also like to add that the Korean Anarchist Library has launched as well
Other great Indigenous anarchists are Tawinikay; here, here and here. Also Gord Hill here, here and here.
Or thereās Indigenous Action and Indigenous Anarchist Federation.
For Black anarchists check these tags.

Hey iām a fashion design student so i have tons and tons of pdfs and docs with basic sewing techniques, pattern how-tos, and resources for fabric and trims. Iāve compiled it all into a shareable folder for anyone who wants to look into sewing and making their own clothing. Iāll be adding to this folder whenever i come across new resources
