The Road to Hell AU 🚂🥀🕯️🪙

There's train tracks running down the road to Hell. The train is so loud as it rumbles down the line that its nicknamed the Shockwave. A bar sits near the train station on the road. It's sign says "The Hazbin Bar" in blinking lights. It's owned by the god Alastor, reluctant conductor of the train to Hell. A poor girl is working on a song on the sidelines of Alastor's bar. She hums under her breath as she works the tables. A hungry young girl wanders in from the cold, a ragged worn coat pulled tightly around her. A god steps off a train with a suitcase full of summer birds and sunshine. He's just gotten back from Hell. The king of the Underworld sits on his throne in Hell. He's already counting down the days until its Winter again. Alastor begins another broadcast. It's a sad song, its a tragedy. It's a tale you've heard before, but we're going to sing it again.

Lucifer isn't as impressed with this plan considering he's still married. Probably. Hey turns out that random call from Charlie was not from Charlie! Funny how that works... Possibly an alternate ending for the Birdcage au but I’m not entirely sure. Lilith comes back and Lucifer is dating(maybe married to?) Vox. Which would be fine considering they have an open marriage… But why him? And why now? Lucifer and Lilith have their own personal issues to work through but they still love each other. Vox and Lucifer’s Relationship is not the most healthy…

And Vox and Lilith fucking hate each other.

Thinking about my Dreamers AU again

I think the worst part of it is they truly did love each other. Who fell first is probably up for debate but they both genuinely loved each other. I think Lucifer however, accepted his feelings much later than Vincent did actually.

Vincent enjoyed Lucifer’s creativity and optimism. He loved Lucifer’s big ideas and his little gifts and enormous dream worlds. He enjoyed Lucifer’s sassiness and his flair for the dramatic . He liked staring into Lucifer’s crimson eyes. He could be vulnerable with Lucifer in a way he couldn’t be with anyone else. And unlike most people in his life there isn’t much more to gain from Lucifer except for his company. Lucifer is an intangible dream spirit who doesn’t interact directly with the world of man. The most he can really give Vincent is good dreams and some secret knowledge. Because of this Lucifer has no reason to stab Vincent in the back either. Most of the secret knowledge isn’t super interesting to Vincent as it’s either for magic or inventions, two fields he currently has no interest in. The most useful information is on how to shape his own dreams.

Lucifer admired Vincent for his ambition and his grit. He loved his courage to keep going and his dreams of influencing culture and ideas, steering the world towards the future. He loved his showmanship and skill in the old razzle dazzle. He loved listening to him talk when he’s passionate about something. He hadn’t been this close with someone who wasn’t family in a millennia.

it’s just that Lucifer was never going to be okay with Vincent being a serial killer, especially in this AU where he gets a much more limited exposure to the worst of humanity. He can’t understand why Vincent would murder to advance his career . He especially can’t understand how or why he would backstab the same person he had praised only a couple hours before. It’s against everything he believes about Vincent and humanity.

So Lucifer decides to break it off. He can’t interfere with the mortal world to stop the murders and he doesn’t believe he can talk Vincent out of this. He can’t be with, much less be around a murderer and pretend everything is fine. He can’t. So for his own sanity or whatever is still left of it, he has to leave. He’ll never contact Vincent in the dream world again. It kills him to leave but he can’t stay either. Besides Vincent doesn’t need him to make the bad dreams go away anymore.

Vincent’s next few nights of dreams are empty of anything that didn’t come from his own head. Lucifer was gone and never coming back.

Vincent cannot accept that. This is one of the very few people he trusts. This is one of the only people he loves. Lucifer has seen parts of him that he has shown to nobody else. He knows that Lucifer loves him too. So why is he leaving? Why is he ripping out Vincent’s heart and stomping on it? Over something like this? He’s not even a human. Why does he care so much about some random dead guy?? You can’t just say you care and let me show you the most vulnerable parts of me before throwing me away like yesterday’s news. Not happening. Not if I have anything to say about it.

So he resorts to the occult via a business partner’s (friend’s) witchy expertise and some good old fashioned trickery. The thing about the ritual is the power is nice. Vincent will never say no to some free power. The extended lifespan and the magic powers were not something Vincent was unhappy about either . But it’s not the main reason he did the ritual. The main reason is he just wants to make sure Lucifer can’t fly off again. If Lucifer is bound to his soul, he can’t leave ever again. It’s a dangerous combination of vengeance for Lucifer leaving and desperation that he’ll never see Lucifer again that makes Vincent go through with the ritual.

So now Lucifer is stuck with Vincent until he expires. And with his powerful magic bound to his soul, it’s not looking like that will happen anytime soon. If ever. And it’s emotional agony. Trapped to a single place, a single mind. Unable to tell anyone else where he went. He’s forced to bear witness to Vincent’s sins. He’s basically like one of the emotions from Inside Out. Except Vincent can hear him in his mind. And that’s just by day. At night Vincent and Lucifer fight for control of the dreamscape and Lucifer is treated as both a prisoner and a honored guest. Vincent occasionally tries to rekindle what they once had. But Lucifer refuses to play along (almost) every time. Vincent is a mess of bitterness, vengeance and longing. Lucifer is a mess of heartbreak, anger and horror. They both miss what they had, but it can never be the same between them. Vincent wants it back, and he has a very long time to wait Lucifer out. Lucifer shouldn’t want it back but he does. That doesn’t mean that Lucifer would ever get together with Vincent again.

Do you ever think about how Lucifer’s comment about the apple not falling far from the tree are both beautifully and tragically accurate to Charlie? She is very much the daughter of Lilith and Lucifer. Charlie Morningstar whose big dreams and ideas isolate her from her peers. Who finds another fellow dreamer cast aside by the First Man for disobeying him. Who falls deeply in love with this dreamer who shares her dreams. Who fights for her dreams to share them with mankind. Which brings her under scrutiny with Heaven. Who rallies sinners to her cause against Heaven. Who fights the First Man. Who sings with all her Heart. Who inherits the belief in the goodness of Heaven but also in the good of Hell. Who’s maybe subconsciously trying to make a name for herself and redeem the actions of her parents? She is so painfully like them. Do you think Sera sees Lucifer and Lilith in her? Do you think the rest of Heaven (excluding Emily and Sir Pentious) will truly ever see her beyond her legacy?

StaticApple is so funny to me becuse the codependent and clingy energy is so intense I think they might invent fusion in helluverse. Like it shouldn't be possible but they would crawl into eachouthers skin.

Like Lucifer would turn into a snake and simply ride around on Vox's shoulders everywhere and Vox would be into it as the world's biggest control freak. They would be glued together.

I wouldn’t be remotely surprised if we found out that Angel Dust can literally quit his job and contract, and that’s his “loophole.” This would tie together his degree of distress in the finale, the apparent strong sense that he betrayed the hotel, the overarching themes of addiction, agency, and abuse in his character arc, and the fact that Vox literally asked Val if he did in the first season.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if that line (“Angel quit? 😁”) wasn’t an oversight or a stupid thing for Vox to say but was actually factually possible the entire time. And to anyone whose response to this post is “but that doesn’t make any sense why wouldn’t he just leave” I direct you to any resource on addiction or intimate partner violence.

Incidentally, this would also be so much more narratively interesting to me as a path to take his character down than one where the hotel/husk/charlie/whatever saves him with Angel having no agency in the matter.

Sooo I had another idea for a Staticapple AU....

I call this the Dreamers AU

Lucifer Morningstar is a dream spirit who gives people good dreams, new creative ideas and divine knowledge. He is not supposed to directly interfere with humans, only influence their dreams. He chafes at the rules his kind operate by and wishes to make the mortal world a better place. However, the last time he interfered directly with humans it ruined people's lives.

Vincent Whittman rarely has good dreams. His frustration with his career and the jealousy he holds for his colleagues leave him with a sadistic subconscious which torments him at night. Either that or he doesn't remember his dreams.

Lucifer wasn't supposed to show himself to his newest dreamer but it's a little too late for that now. Looks like this human doesn't even need his help, he has big enough dreams and ideas all on his own. Although he could use some more pleasant dreams in his life...

Vincent was having a rare good dream with an odd creature in it. He seems sweet, if a little ridiculous. The ducks and the circus with fireworks were fun. It certainly beats his usual dreams.

They have a nice chat and Vincent laments the fact that Lucifer isn't real. Lucifer insists he is actually real and Vincent demands he prove it.

Lucifer tells him that he'll leave him a souvenir on his nightstand. Vincent wakes up to a softly glowing rubber duck on his nightstand.

Lucifer comes back the next night to give him another good dream. They continue to meet in dreams and slowly fall in love. Lucifer keeps bring Vincent good dreams, and Vincent becomes very proficient in lucid dreaming.

However during the day, Vincent is slowly killing his way up the ladder to fame and fortune.

One day, Lucifer accidentally witnesses a memory based dream with one of Vincent's memories of killing someone. He is horrified and leaves Vincent, vowing to never interact with a human again.

Vincent heartbroken goes to his witchy friend Velvette for information on dream spirits. He learns of Lucifer's reputation and rituals that bind or influence dream spirits.

Vincent magically draws Lucifer into one of his dreams and binds Lucifer's essence to his mind. Now Lucifer is basically stuck as a helpless spectator in Vincent's mind during the day, and his prisoner/"guest" at night. Vincent continues to draw on Lucifer's limitless power and gains magic of his own due to their connection.

Lucifer regrets everything.

Sometimes shipping is more about the chemistry and dynamic between two characters and what's interesting about their relationship than actually wanting them to be a couple. Sometimes I just want to mix two things together and watch it melt through the container or explode.]

The same way every sinner ignores and disrespects Lucifer, I want them all to take a step back and bow their heads the second Lilith enters the room.

i woke up with staticapple brainrot today (I always think about them but today more) so what if.... lucifer and vox being each other's replacement of the people they love(d) the most and got rejected/abandoned by.

they both have suffered harsh rejections and/or abandonments from the person they loved the most (and the feeling of loneliness and hurt that comes from it)—lucifer from lilith, vox from alastor. when you trust someone enough to open yourself fully and show vulnerability, hurts worse when you end up alone, without the feeling of comfort that person gave it to you even if it was only with their presence.

that rejection can bring two possible incomes: close yourself fully and despise that someone for leaving you alone, wanting more and more power to overcome that weakness or wait for them to come back someday, knowing (or forcing yourself to believe) that they didn't mean to leave and they will surely return to you.

lucifer craves attention, someone that would listen to him and simply be there, watching him. vox wants someone he can dominate and exploit, someone his silver tongue can make that someone attached to him.

lucifer despises vox's methods and the subtle manipulations, yet craves the way he always knows what to say to make him feel good, like lilith one day did—vox hates lucifer's weaknesses, but finds them rather easy to exploit, and he wants the power the king of hell has for himself. that kind of power he probably would never had if he had stayed with alastor.

they're not healthy and will never be,

yet are attached to each other in ways they never were with their previous important ones, a codependency too strong for any of them to break it. one for power, the other for attention.

Vox & Lucifer/StaticApple - Underrated Parallels and Ship

A lot of people like to look at the parallels between Vox and Charlie, but I never see enough appreciation for the ones between Vox and Lucifer! It's interesting how many similarities they share, and also makes for some good ship potential (though if that's not your thing that's fine!) (also yes I know that they can be paired in a triad with Alastor in AppleMedia but I'm talking about just these two by themselves).

So, reasons why they're interesting parallels and/or an interesting ship:

Most unimportant point but still worth saying, their colors look so good together, like the fanart potential from that factor alone— Like you know how good Vox was in his Vox Populi outfit? White looks great with that Vox-color blue! And throw in the gold as well and it's just a very beautiful color combination.

Both Vox and Lu are big dreamers. They both have (had) grand ideas that went above what everyone around them was thinking and doing. And as a result, it led to...

...They both did things that had huge unintentional consequences that they're having to pay for. Lucifer ruined the perfect world and brought sin and evil to Earth, Vox nearly started a war with Heaven and nearly blew up half of the Pride Ring. And as a result of all this...

...They're both at rock-bottom now. Luci is depressed, as both shown and stated (by him) in the show itself, and as for Vox, we don't know yet how he's doing post-defeat but there's no way it's well. So they have a lot of similarities here and a lot they could connect on and relate to.

Their power and status differences: Lucifer holds status just by being the King of Hell and we see he has a lot of power as well. However, when it comes to power and influence over Sinners, Vox holds the most power and status. Sinners know Luci by name and concept but Vox is the name and face they see everywhere, who controls their news, their products, and it's Vox who is able to sway the crowd, understand and influence Sinners, while Lu's act doesn't really seem to scare or influence anyone. Vox probably wouldn't mind the title of the King of Hell though. (And specifically for shipping, there's interesting potential there for Vox to try to use a relationship with Lu for his own benefit (or even Lu use Vox) and then unintentionally end up catching feelings)

And finally, their personalities! Vox is quite serious and driven, but he does still have a silly side, and Luci is generally pretty unserious and silly. I think he could help Vox come down off his power high-horse and just enjoy life (or death? afterlife?) more. And I think Vox would be patient and okay with Lu being Lu. (part of my theory behind Lucifer and Lilith's relationship falling apart is that their personalities clashed too much, Lucifer wasn't helping enough with Lilith's goals of uplifting Sinners, probably in part because of his depression but regardless, I think her goal-orientated nature with his more unseriousness created a personality clash that could've divided them, which is neither of their faults just simply how it is)

Oh and extra point, Vox and Luci both hate (and are trying to be used by) Alastor.

All in all, I think they have a lot of similarities and it isn't recognized and acknowledged enough, and I think their dynamic could make for a really interesting ship as well!
