and i think goose knows this, but she also can't help but excuse that behavior. every character is a reflection of something, and if they're all building a fort for and crying over an abuser who belittles them in person and in his mind, what does that say?

ragatha's concerns about said dangerous person were also treated like she was being an overly possessive wet rag. in retrospect, she was trhying to stop him from killing a third person, but remember, this guy is lovely, precious, and wonderful.

the tadc finale is so bland in such an interesting way. er it's so interesting that every single thought provoking dilemma regarding the situation is not explored. at all.

the episode really shouldn't've put all its effort into the backstory of the (hijacked) main character's death.

they gloss over the characters learning to cope with the fact that they're brain scans. they gloss over the characters adjusting to and accepting their permanent life with caine in the circus.

tadc brings up a lot of questions regarding cloning and what constitutes as "human" (when does AI end and being "real"/"human" begin?). if you copy your memories and input it into a different body is that still you? if that other you gets everything and you get nothing, could you be content with that? given that they don't have physical bodies in the real world, could you even consider them human? yes, gangle and zooble had a conversation about that. no, that conversation didn't have nearly as much depth as it should have. zooble just states "we are human" with no pushback for chrissakes.

idk. If I, from the outside world, somehow gained control of the system and deleted the cast (non abstracted + caine), I would not think that I had just murdered 6 people. maybe I wanted the show to convince me otherwise.

also if the cast regards caine as human, what about the other npcs? are we not going to bring back that plot point from episode 2? where an npc (seemed to have) gained self-consciousness? like what differentiates caine from the npcs????

genuinely the most thought provoking moment of the episode was the interaction between caine and the moon ("I didn't program you to say you love me").

also the show just doesn't acknowledge parts of the Human Experience that aren't necessarily thought provoking. people go stir crazy. you can't trap a bunch of people, isolate them from their friends families and connections, and expect them to last forever (think better call saul and the german workers). for a show about learning how to live a stagnating life, they really don't explore that. it just goes 'yeah the characters have accepted this now'. like O.K...

Except that transandrophobia is not limited to Tumblr. As you can still find people being shitty to trans men on other social media and in "real life" as well.

For example when a trans woman tried to edit the text on trans men oppression of Wikipedia because it mentioned transandrophobia.

Or that people genuinely think trans men are not as oppressed or even oppressed at all. Which causes trans men to be ignored and dismissed in a lot of discussions.

Or the fact that people treat transition into a man like it's a privilege, gross or a tragedy compared to transition into a woman.

So no, transandrophobia is not just some "silly online drama". And the solution is not for trans men to simply ignore when they are treated badly. Just because YOU never experienced it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Well yeah transandrophobia, transmisogyny and all forms of transphobia exist outside of tumblr. Tumblr just amplifies the "divide" like no other. [By "divide" I mean pitting trans people against each other. most commonly trans women vs men]. And oh yeah it def happens on other social medias, I just don't use them so I wasn't speaking on them.

The changes to the wiki were stopped, though. It says something to focus on the one person who unsuccessfully tampered with the wiki rather than the multiple people (allies) who called her out and stopped her.

Never said trans men should ignore when they are treated badly. You know what I've done when people have treated me badly? Talked to them. People make mistakes. People can be unintentionally transandrophobic, exorsexist, transmisogynistic, etc. Note this is specifically for when trans people have said misguided things about me** Yes, cis transphobes will be transandrophobic. I wasn't talking about cis transphobes. I was talking about this weird pervasive belief that trans women are all transandrophobic, and trans men are all transmisogynistic (not that that can't happen, but it is a vocal minority. that tumblr likes to amplify) and that trans men and women can never relate men and women are two separate species actually haven't you heard? (sarcasm)

Yeah, I've got access to a community full of different trans folk who like to listen and learn from one another. It really is terrible not everyone has access to that. But I think that it would do the world a great service to spread tfem for tmasc for enby for tneutral love so that that's what bleeds into real world interactions rather than divise vitriol.

I'm not joking when I say this stuff is contributing to internalized transphobia. Trust me, I'd know!

Rough thoughts on jax/tadc:

I really like how Jax exists as a severely repressed (different from closeted) trans person, and how that will make you toxic. I especially like that it happens in the presence of a trans/enby person whose pronouns are 100% respected. Internalized transphobia can stop you from realizing you're in a safe space.

I just wish that it was a clearer cautionary tale about the dangers of repression. I wouldn't be surprised if many people finish the show without realising jax is a repressed trans woman. Let's face it, most cis people know jack about trans experiences.

I also think the harm Jax did to others was not taken seriously enough. She barely faced any repercussions theoughout the show, and characters that did call her out were usually framed as unreasonable (for example: Ragatha was 100% in the right to be worried about Jax and Pomni getting close, given Ribbit). And I felt that the harm she did to Gangle, Ragatha and Zooble was consistently played down. Internal struggles/past trauma is not an excuse to be a shitty person. Especially when the people you're hurting would 100% help you if you'd let them.
