if we agree Otoya is basically a mini Mao in his purest form and everything he says, Mao thinks, then:

this is so cute bc Mao can’t believe he’s never complimented Nanoka before this moment. But that’s bc Otoya is always doing it, but Mao is thinking it and probably felt like he was telling her when it was Otoya 😭😭😭

Everytime we hear his thoughts around Nanoka he's always thinking about her (mostly how cute she is) like at this point im convinced he's complimenting/praising her in his head 24/7 😭😭

Also I dont think it's like completely them sharing thoughts together since Otoya once thinks in regards to Mao "so you where thinking that after all" and sometimes doesnt understand him himself lmao but since Mao was the one who "breathed" life into a totem thus creating Otoya i do think they have the same kind of "prefrence"/what they like, so while Otoya complimenting Nanoka is his own thought, Mao definitely agrees with him everytime lol

agreed!! and ofc he definitely opens up more and becomes more vocal as the story continues. and yeah otoya definitely has thoughts of his own, and as far as shikigami go he’s kept on a long leash, if you will (i read somewhere that a master has to have incredible spiritual power for a shikigami to behave on its own without betraying its master or getting out of control, like they can be dangerous if they become too sentient. so that also goes to show how strong mao is spiritually, that otoya even has as much freedom as he does is kind of a huge deal). so i feel like even if mao isn’t directly/simultaneously thinking it it’s still in line with what he would think as someone without all his trauma lol. he’s like another branch of his consciousness/subconscious i feel lol just fun food for thought

I was kind of worried when it was announced that the second ED was gonna be by Yurako's VA, that they would pull some kind of love triangle crap (putting Nanoka and Yurako on the same level) but i was pleasantly suprised, not only are the visuals beautiful(as well as music) but they solely focus on Yurako, her backstory and love for Mao

And the one time that Nanoka DOES appear? Its in the presence of Mao in the most romantic "pulls closer to self" way imaginable which most likely came from Yurako's own mind (given that we see her cry before this) but it still solidifies one thing that even she herself knows deep down: there is no competition and no one else for Mao other than Nanoka
