Call me crazy but, with how the anime did this scene, im fully convinced this is where Mao started to (very slowly) develop feelings👀

I always wondered when it started for him and with how he was already listing Nanoka's good qualities earlier in the episode (brave, honest, a good heart = all qualities that made him fall in love with her) and here where Nanoka characteristically stayed positive even through a tough situation, putting more emphasis on the bracelet, THE MUSIC (ill never get enough of it), showing her smiling at Mao (how did he not fall in love right then and there??) and afterwards showing a close up of Mao looking in the direction of where Nanoka left (which wasn't in the manga) just gave it such a romantic tone

I have to say that with actually hearing MaoNoka's interactions and with the added scenes it makes Nanoka yelling at Mao later on feel even more justified because

I can tell the staff are putting their whole butts into making sure Nanoka looks as cute and lively as possible, from her facial expressions to the squish of her skin and the delicacy of her finger moments. Much appreciated!!

They've even added a bit extra to what she does and says to show off her personality~

The characters weren't quite as solid within these first few manga chapters as the story was just finding it's footing, so I'm pleased that the adaption is adding to these early moments to feel more in-line with later events. (Just as long as they don't overdo it!!! You're on thin ice Sunrise.....)
