Robbie Williams' tribute to Liam

stuck on the different pictures louis, zayn, and harry chose for their posts…

louis’ is celebrating their bond, their friendship, the love they held for one another that got them through so many tough times. it’s saying they will never get to stand on a stage together again but let’s celebrate the good times, let’s remember the love.

zayn’s is highlighting that they were just kids at the start, they were boys thrown together into an insane, unimaginable situation and they needed each other. they found solace and comfort in each other and no one else can understand what they went through growing up together but they clung on to each other.

and harry’s… god. harry’s is just liam. liam on stage looking out on thousands of fans doing his favourite thing in the world. and that’s how harry wanted to honour him, making other people happy.

what really gets me, after the initial shock, is the fact that what i remember as a group of bright eyed, over ambitious kids are now grown adults who are able to navigate the complexity of this situation.

we not only grew up with the boys, but we grew up with each other.

a lot of us have careers, families, a whole life far detached from the one we used to dedicate to a group of five boys (and their families, hairstylist, bodyguards… even a pigeon). and in one moment, simultaneously and instantly, all those memories came pouring and flooding back.

Never in a million years I imagined it would be for this reason 💔

Liam, you’ve been a big part of my twenties. 1D has shaped so much of my youth and helped me grow into the man I am now, as open-mindedly, lovingly and respectfully towards others as possible.

My grief is nothing compared to what Liam’s family and the rest of the boys have to go through right now and I hope they know and cherish the fact that fandom is still very much a thing even after 10 years. This is the ultimate proof of the positive impact Liam and the boys have had - and continue to have - on millions of young people everywhere.

The level of closeness this fandom has always shown in times of happiness and grief is something amazing, I feel less alone in this.

I wish Liam knows how good he did here, wherever he is right now.
