I just reblog and ramble I'm behind the balloon kid blog and fnaf world blog
Day 19
Black Blacklight Freddy 2.0 from Funko
I didn't think we'd get any more blacklight animatronics for a while, but Funko released this variant of Freddy as one of the Hot Topic exclusive funkoween figures just last year. Someone might wanna add this guy to the fnaf wiki, it took watching a video about bootlegs for me to learn of his existence
Day 87
Blue Blacklight Freddy -2.0 from Good Stuff
Ah Good Stuff. A reminder that as bad as Funko's merch is, it could always be worse. This variant of Freddy is clearly meant to also be a variant of Funko's Blue Blacklight Freddy, but looks(and probably is) far cheaper. Honestly you could probably find better stuff from bootlegs if you're willing to risk lead poisoning
Day 201
Pink Blacklight Freddy from Funko
I discussed the Foxy from this line of plushies back in day 4, so let's add another to the list. Blacklight Freddy is a variant of Freddy and one of the original blacklights. While he gets less attention from merch(the only other thing he has is the fazgoo slime), he also has pretty nice colors. I have a weakness for pink, sue me. Also it took me several years to realise that him and the other Freddy in his line just have the placement of the blue and pinked swapped. Even the recolor plushies weren't safe from recolors
Day 301
Green Blacklight Freddy from Funko
Sometime after funko released their initial blacklight wave, they decided to create some bigger version. But alongside those, they created two new blacklights that were exclusive to FYE. One of which is this variant of Freddy. Instead of just switching some colors around like the two pre-existing Blacklight Freddys, this one instead copied Green Blacklight Foxy. Just with less yellow and more pink. It doesn't look half bad and the more 3d eyebrows make this particular plush seem kinda confused
Day 311
Blue Spring Colorway Freddy from Funko
This variant of Blue Blacklight Freddy and Freddy has changed quite a bit from its original blacklight version. It's replaced a lot of the yellow in the design, as well as made the bowtie and hat purple instead of pink, and if it wasn't for the face being relatively accurate, I probably wouldn't have connected the two at all. But seeing as my main complaint with the Spring Colorways is them just being pastel blacklights? Yeah, the changes are definitely an improvement
The fact that I like the colors chosen even outside of them being Different is a bonus
Day 337
Black Blacklight Freddy from Funko
When I talked about the funkoween Freddy blacklight, I referred to him as Blacklight Freddy 2.0. That's because of this variant of Freddy. I thought Black Blacklight Bonnie's teeth looked odd with the green outline, but this is way more worse. It really lends itself better to the funko pops. Aside from that he's pretty neat. Maybe it would've worked better if he had three colors instead of four(the black doesn't count), but he's still not half bad
Day 358
Pink Spring Colorway Freddy from Funko
The other spring colorway Freddy had some decently sized changes to his color palette that helped him stand out. This variant of Freddy and Blacklight Freddy, though? Not so much. At first glance you'd assume he was basically the same colors. But they're just a lot more subtle in comparison. This line has a habit of switching the colors of smaller details around and while it's not a bad thing, it's still surprising. You'd think Funko would've put in the least amount of effort possible
Day 394
Blue Blacklight Freddy 2 from Funko
I mentioned on the other Blue Blacklight Freddy's day that some blacklights were specifically designed for Help Wanted. This variant of Freddy is one of them. And wow he gets a lot more attention than the other one. The action figures, funko pops, the mystery minis, etc. The only merch that he doesn't appear in is the plushies. But how do they compare aesthetically? Well, I prefer the one that doesn't have green, but this one is pretty neat too. I see why he's gotten merch
Day 368
Blacklight Nightmare Chica from Just Toys
Y'know, when I just had the box picture to go off of, this variant of Chica and Nightmare Chica didn't look that bad. But the lighting and the lack of detail on the cup itself... Well, the green fits in with these being "blacklights" and the fact that its colors were going to match the scrapped Blacklight Nightmare Cupcake is neat. Aside from that, though? Honestly it kinda speaks for itself
Blacklight Freddys and Foxy!
Day 400
Blue Blacklight Foxy from Funko
Y'know, the original blacklight wave has pretty nice designs. And this Foxy is a good example of that. I'm pretty sure I even got the plushie some years ago. Occasionally the later stuff has a good recolor and I'll probably always prefer the black blacklights, but the originals definitely hit it out of the park. The colors mesh well and the design's willingness to stick to the limited details helps a lot
Plus, y'know, he's the one I chose for day 400 of this blog. I wouldn't be surprised if I said it at least once on every major occasion, but I truly cannot believe there are this many variants. I usually don't truly process the number of characters I've covered, but it's been over a year at this point. Kinda scary, honestly
BLACK LIGHT FREDDY
FNAF belongs to Scott Cawthon
Day 398
Yellow Blacklight Golden Freddy from Funko
...Ya there's only so many creative names I can come up with for these guys
Anyway, this variant of Golden Freddy and Freddy is the last member of the "Blacklight Golden Freddy" trio. And despite having the least amount of- for lack of a better term, space- available, he's arguably the most creative out of the three. Sure he still doesn't feel like a "proper" blacklight, but at least he feels like a proper recolor
Day 389
Purple Blacklight Cupcake from Funko
The last two Chica variants didn't have their own Cupcakes, so let's talk about this variant of it(and Toy Cupcake, cus- of course). It's one of the mystery minis and is one of the better/more distinct designs that came out of the blacklight set. Even ignoring the fact that it has the same colors as Blacklight Chica, purple is really nice. It's also fairly restrained in the palette compared to later blacklight designs
Day 374
Pink Blacklight Toy Bonnie from Funko
Funko doesn't always make a clear distinction between variants of the same character. The pint sized hero versions of Foxy and Mangle, the lack of distinction between Cupcake and Toy Cupcake, the way Blacklight Rockstar Freddy is just a remodel of Blue Blacklight Freddy. That last one is especially important, because it's the same case for this variant of Bonnie, Toy Bonnie, and arguably Blacklight Bonnie. I wasn't even sure if this was actually a Toy Bonnie plush at first because everything is the exact same minus the little cheek patches. And those aren't always reliable
But unlike the Foxy vs Mangle situation, this one is easily solved by looking at the non-blacklight version of the keychain set. And thank god for that
What's your opinion on the color schemes of those fnaf blacklight mystery minis?
God I love glow-in-the-dark toys, and the neon colors are sooo risky i love themm
