“Do it scared” “do it alone” are all great tips, but my biggest takeaway from therapy is do it messy. This is especially true if you’re getting out of a burnout, which I experience often. Literally just do it messy. You don’t need to pick the perfect trail to walk, the perfect playlist to listen to, whatever the fuck it is. You don’t need to have a meticulous to do list and wake up at the exact time you planned and drink the exact amount of water you planned to drink. Like the biggest thing for people like me to remember is sometimes it’s okay to do it messy. Put on a random yt workout and just get it done in sweats. Do 5 minutes of a daunting task and go from there. Sometimes just getting up is a win during intense burnouts or depressive funks. Literally just do it messy.

well, first and foremost, ruben would finally be a father.

but i can see him getting into social work, being very community oriented, every kid he takes under his wing has the protection of Father Pallister (and god help the parent that hurts a single hair on one of those kids, no one can strike the fear of The Almighty into a soul like Father Pallie).

and no matter where he's assigned (i always say spain because i want to see these scottish men sweat and get a tan))) niall would follow. doesn't matter if it's on the other side of scotland or the other side of the world, niall will be buying that ticket and secretly living in ruben's rectory now that they've reconnected. calling wouldn't be enough. a postcard?? niall would eat every one of them.

and he's so fixated on the collar. on seeing this side of ruben that he'd only seen a glimpse of in those days before the trial with those kids that never saw ruben again afterwards. hates the women in the parrish eyeballing ruben (even though he's doing the same and worse).

and they talk and talk and it's like they're those teens sharing a bedroom again, and niall asks about ruben's turn to religion and ruben doesn't try to convert niall, he just cups his cheek and says god loves you because he can't say i love you, but niall understands it, somewhere in his bones, he hears him.
