not be That Insufferable Fat Person but I've been seeing more and more art of this like "Human Moomin" design in the tags and while he IS adorable and I love him and respect the energy I also genuinely am VERY bothered by the fact that He Is Not Fat Enough. He's """"""chubby"""""" in the art, if you can even call it that, but like,,,,, Moomin is a (honestly sort of tall) VERY ROUND character.

why is it when you make him into a human you shrink him and get rid of his stomach? and his round face?? Why did you give that boy a jawline. Pls can anyone hear me

The fact that Vox had a crush on Alastor that turned into a grudge that lasted for SEVENTY YEARS then got a brain lag when Alastor admitted he respected him then blushed when Val suggested they should fuck, but other than the noncon voyeurism he still didn't touch Alastor against his will in any way is making me crash out. And we got canon confirmation that he gets off on other people's pain. He's so in love oh my god

My read on Vox is that what everything comes down to is he wants people to love him. His ideal world would be him at the top of the heap, with close friends or a partner to care for, and adoring masses at his feet. It's the real reason he became a cult leader, because it's how he could secure that love. It's why he sincerely asked Alastor to be his partner, why despite showing some degree of feeling above the other Vees, he still values them, and even after Alastor puts him down for relying on others, Vox still takes the time to note that he DOES have a team.

Alastor is still reeling from his near-death experience against Adam, and most notably that had he died, it would have been remembered as an altruistic, noble sacrifice, and that drives him crazy. His brief conversation with nifty beforehand showed that he was perhaps growing fond of the hotel folks in his own way, but in season 2 he's been cold, distant, and mean to all of them. He doubles down on the idea that you don't need others to survive, that you have to fight and claw and bite your way forward in life, making deals and trying to get ahead. He can't stand the idea that he might be anything other than a lone wolf, that he might need other people.

Jury's still out on where their stories are going, but I genuinely think it's fascinating that Vox is the one with the Evil Power of Teamwork and Friendship.h

And meanwhile, "Will/can Alastor will be redeemed?" is a question that has no definitive answer, but I'd suspect that that may be an endgame question— if he truly has had the hotel rub off on him to the point where he forgoes his psychotic desires and recognizes friendship for what it is.

Okay but can we talk about how Alastor’s oblivious aroace ass didn’t even totally realize that Vox was flirting with him and not just asking to be business partners?

Cause like-

Vox asked him to be “partners,” clearly meaning something romantic not just work-related

And then Alastor laughs at him for being weak, but then ONLY talks about how Vox wanted Alastor “on his team” and how he only relies on the power of others to be as successful as he is??? He didn’t say anything about Vox wanting it to just be them two??? Or think about how Vox might want something more from him than just power????

Which like I think Alastor understands to some extent how Vox feels about him otherwise he wouldn’t have done everything he did in the rest of the episode, but still it’s so funny to me that the point just seems to fly completely over Alastor’s head in the bar scene

Oh Alastor you hopeless closeted aroace I love you
