My inbox was overflowing with newsletters. I finally got to sit with them after wrapping my exams up. Here is a curated list of articles I recently read, if you want some updates on the history world. I also learnt about the Belgachia (or Paikpara Rajbari) from my cousin. How the heck did I not know about it, living so close all these years? Even my friend who lives in Paikpara doesn't know about the Rajbari. So, that was an interesting read. I reread books all the time, and especially the ones I love. This time around I was excited to read HP for the nth time. Revisiting books always brings up plot points you forgot or initially missed. So, this time, I made a list of all the things I previously overlooked in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. You can read the full article in this link. Though the French word "estiquet" is quite obsolete today, it left behind 2 words we often use.

First, the English "etiquette" which means polite behaviour or good manners. It stemmed in the 17th century when the Spanish court implemented a written set of codes to be observed in the court. Or simply a "ticket" of instructions.

From there we got the modern "ticket" - which means a receipt or pass.

In October 1814, alcohol, not starvation or fire, caused one of the most strange disasters in history to strike London. A huge vat at the Meux & Co. Brewery exploded, releasing more than a million pints into the streets of St. Giles. The outcome was tragic and absurd: houses were wrecked, lives were lost, and entire alleys were inundated with porter in a tidal wave. Not blood or gunpowder, but the very drink that Londoners loved most.

I absolutely love it when cartoon characters go back in time to a historical site, and they destroy the place, implying that they are the reason why the site was originally ruined!

As someone who didn't pay much attention to YJHD while watching it and only fully listened to Ghagra yesterday, for the first time - it is an amazing composition. I've only ever listened to snippets of the song in reels. The entire song is actually a solid, snarky conversation between Bunny and Mohini!

The Christmas Tree Farm - Laurie Gilmore

Begun reading The Christmas Tree Farm by Laurie Gilmore. Yes, I started with the 3rd book without reading the previous ones. I've been seeing this series all over the internet for a long time. This one was the only one currently available on my library catalogue.

The Dream Harbor series focuses on various people from a small town. I loved the setting of the town. It sounds like the perfect, hearty, small town during Christmas. I could somewhat smell the baked goods and the Christmas-ness from the pages [even though it was an ebook]. However, I only read it till after they hooked up. The tension was boiling, and the issues in the minds of the protagonists [Kira and Ben] were pretty well articulated.

I did lose interest after they hooked up and came to a mutual agreement. I usually don't enjoy fluffy, predictable romances, and I could see where the plot was heading. I do see why the series is so popular among the masses. It was a pretty basic, enjoyable read till the portion I read!

Please write your story. Draw the artwork. Finish the animation. Continue on whatever project you're working on. It doesn't matter if you're not good at it, or you have doubts, or you're afraid of mistakes. Your creation has a right to exist, and it will be important to others.

as a non-listener, i have to appreciate the craze of taylor swift and the popularity she has earned. the LinkedIn Tango and the NYT Strands has honoured her in the best possible way in their games, today. and on a personal note, i must also mention, having not listened to her for ages - i still knew it was her the instant i saw the puzzles.
