🔸 Cunning, conniving, and has an unending thirst for battle. In fact, a fight always comes first to Childe before anything else.

4. does your muse find any specific features particularly attractive? i think the one thing childe finds most attractive is someone who can keep up with him, or better yet give him a chase ... really it's someone who can have a good enough quip back to deal with him or rather keep him entertained enough! one of the most intriguing things is the thrill in a fight for him, so! if ever there's someone who can interest him enough there then that's definitely an instant attraction. i guess this would count as features in personalty but in terms of appearance? i don't think childe really focuses on that too much. if anything it would certainly be the eyes.

17. what are some of the signs that your muse shows their care/love without saying they love/care about their partner? he will not stop bothering you. ghjsskf no but although childe really lacks the care or concern on whether he's bothering someone or not, anyway.. i think something that's telling is certainly when childe not only keeps following you, but he'll keep asking questions. usually a fight is all childe would need from someone else to determine whether they'll satisfy his interest or not, but if childe is then asking you questions all the time or outright stating he's missed your company then.. ! that's a huge feat in his book. he'll pay attention, and even say words of reassurance, especially when it comes to family. childe can be extremely persistent and attentive when he cares.

he— after the lengths Neuvillette and the House of the Hearth both took in order to fid him in the Fortress, the weeks of investigating... after he just upped and vanished, when his Vision had been left behind in her possession, when the last she'd seen of him was some oceanic void... cast in the shadow of some kind of whale...

—he joked about her hiding? she had half a mind to throw a fist. not a careless and rage-fuelled assault, but a channel through which all the worry could finally dissiptate. since day one, there was never doubt of Childe's strength, but without his Vision, resorting to his Delusion after the Oratrice's verdict and the Iudex's intervention... well, believing him 'worse for wear' would be one way of putting it.

honestly, seeing him in one piece was the most important thing right now.

with a conscious note to settle and a steady breath, the Traveler's shoulders loosened. "shouldn't I be the one asking you that? I'm glad to see you're alright".

"Ah! That guy." Childe had subdued thoughts on Neuvillette.

Perhaps he should have known, too, the extent of his power when rushing in as he did, but there wasn't a single bone in Childe's body that regretted it. He would have still done what he did with a smile on his face, because how else was he going to feel that thrill? Perhaps that was at the bottom of the list when it came to others' priorities, but Childe was always resolute in what he considered important to him. It would be hard now to explain the events that unfolded. But he did have his questions...

"You guys were looking for me?" And, despite the events that had unfolded, Childe sounded surprised. He would understand the House of the Hearth to some degree ... "well if he's here, we can just settle for a rematch," Childe concluded. "Otherwise, I had to get out. What, didn't you think I was capable? No 'Fortress of Meropide' was ever going to stop me." He said it so nonchalantly. Realistically, as absurd as it would often sound, there was little that would truly shake Childe to his core, and even then, would he step down?

"Sounds like you two have been busy. Maybe we should talk this over a bite to eat or something." Childe kept his bouncy tone, as if the contents of their conversation weren't as dire as they seemed. Childe laughed. "I must say, after all that, maybe coming here was a blessing! But there's been little to do here..." It was obvious that Childe was a little restless, all things considered.

"Still! I don't know whether to be happy or disappointed that you were worried about me. Remember how capable I am, Traveller. It would take more than that to keep me in danger. Well, a danger that I can't conquer, of course."

it's been a relentless fifteen minutes of feeling like he's being tracked, and though it should be unnerving, especially in a place as isolated as the outskirts of spirale, his instinct tells him whoever's been tracing his footsteps has no malicious intent.

but the ringing in dan heng's ears tells him, malice aside, that the uninvited company is in search of something else.

his grip tightens around his flimsy wooden spear, and with deliberation, he fully stops in his tracks, turning to face an empty space once rustling with the noise of crinkled leaves.

"i know you're there. step out."

Oh. He'd been found out.

Childe told himself he had clearly been teasing to get their attention.

After a beat, Childe gave a lighthearted laugh, emerging from some shrubbery. If anything, he felt a lot more comfortable now than he did a couple of seconds ago. Childe was giving the stranger a grin, as if they already knew each other, and were simply rendezvousing. "Hey!"

It was fun whilst it lasted. There was no tension with revealing himself too soon. If Childe knew the terrain on the outskirts of Spirale more, than this would have panned out a lot better. Oh well. His grin was easy. "You have a keen eye." Quickly, he dusted at his knees and arms, catching a stray lead or two, and there was a tiny twig stuck in his hair.

"It's been quiet out here until I heard you. Thought I'd scope you out. You never know when you can be suddenly eye-to-eye with some ferocious beast." What should have been said with precaution was said with excitement instead. "But who knows. Someone looking like you can still be capable of being just that."

she's a little spooked when he speaks up, she can't help it. not that garry can't stand talking to people in a bar, of all places, but usually sitting by herself in a corner gets most other visitors to leave her alone. and he's quite pretty, too ... it's a bit intimidating.

   she'd seen him walking around the bar, having fun and drinks. she wonders why he sat down next to her after a while. tapping her fingers against the thin stem of the glass, she lets out a soft humming noise in acknowledgement. ' i was gonna order the, uh ... ' she squints at a menu nearby, ' seething solar? but i chickened out. this one kinda just tastes like perfume, though. '

   it's mostly chemical, honestly. that's on her for ordering something with lavender in it. ' i've come once or twice. i haven't seen you until now, either. ' perhaps a bit straight forward. ' but you seem to know your way around a bar, if that counts for anything. '

Childe usually had no rhyme nor reason to his decisions and/or antics. Yet, despite most of his choices being on a whim, he always sounded confident nonetheless, just like now. He joined in with the squinting, as if this task was much too tedious with how much he'd drank already, the evidence alone being the glass he was currently holding. "Seething Solar, huh? Why, is it strong or something?" He might have even had this one already. He didn't exactly keep track. Childe flashed a grin. "Sounds like a challenge. I could order one for the both of us!"

He saw everything and anything as a challenge if there was even a hint of hesitation. Despite having just met this individual, Childe talked as if disbelieving their cowardice for not purchasing it. "Like perfume? So you like that sort of thing?" He gave a brief glance at her drink. "I'll be honest, I can't even remember if I've been to this exact bar before." He let out a laugh. "I see one, I go. Gotta check out what this city has to offer if there's nothing else to do." He could have been spending his time picking fights with anyone who looked like they could give him one. But going to the bar was a good second choice.

"So what brings you here then? You're sitting alone. I always think it's either someone who wants their company, or someone who's both interesting and highly suspicious of something."

Or perhaps Childe was too chipper in the otherwise what would be serene atmosphere. Honestly, it was very much like him to make a scene even unintentionally. He had a drink in hand and a grin on his face which was enough to imply the glass he was holding wasn't his first. Well, no matter. If Childe wasn't spending his time sparring in Spirale, it was attending whatever bar, cafe or any establishment which sold beverages that he could.

If the person sitting next to him wanted peace, then that was very unfortunate.

"Do you come here often? I don't think I've seen you before." Childe, himself, didn't go there often at all.

Well, this was certainly a pleasant surprise. Childe had been taking things with ease since arriving in the city of Spirale. Even though it had yet to really reach his expectations, seeing the Traveler was certainly one of the highlights.

"Traveler!"

There was plenty to say, and Childe was well aware of that. Lately, a new bound of information had made itself present, and honestly, admittedly, it was a little hard to digest. It was easy for the Harbinger to give a fairly light greeting anyway, as he would even amidst the gravest of circumstances. As seemingly as always, it would be hard to really deter his unnaturally good disposition.

"I can't believe I haven't seen you around here yet. Don't tell me you were hiding from me."

WHERE THERE WAS GOOD ALCOHOL, one could always know they may find kaveh there enjoying its splendors. and while having more than just himself was better, sometimes it simply couldn't be helped in the lack of company, knowing the others either were too busy or simply didn't feel like it. so when he hears the sound of a voice asking if the seat is taken, crimson eyes cast themselves across the table to the three empty seats, all before turning to the other with a smile.

❝ Not at all. I don't think their owners will be making it tonight, anyway. ❞ not unless some miracle were to occur within that moment. ❝ There's another pitcher of beer coming along here in a couple of seconds. Unless you're looking for something a little more in a drink? ❞

Childe flashed a toothy grin before taking a seat. He perhaps would have anyway, even if he was declined. Maybe Childe wasn't the biggest fan of small talk, but he wasn't adverse to the notion. With a drinking buddy of some sort, it was different. A conversation would only go so far with anyone Childe found boring, which unfortunately was always the vast majority. But he was taking his chance today at the expense of Spirale giving him close to nothing to do that he thought was actually worth doing. Honestly, Childe wasn't the easiest man to please, and he would always express his disappointment without shame.

But a drink was a drink, and he needed someone's ear to nag, if only for a little while whilst getting intoxicated. "Are you?" He asked. "I thought I'd start on beer and see how far I go. Something tells me you're also a go-getter when it comes to drinks."

Nothing did, but he sounded convincing enough. When the pitcher arrived, Childe was quick to taking his fill. His first drink looked as if he'd been parched for too long. "Man! I missed this."

AND PEOPLE THOUGHT SHE WAS STRANGE, the way this man seems so eager to run into the maws of pain. with each word, her patience wears more, having hoped this was enough to scare him into conceding. apparently it only serves to stir what innate desires lurk in the depths of his heart, excitement in his gaze despite the lack of what life he has in them. briefly, she wonders what kind of life he must have lived to come to this particular path, before it dissipates as if it were shreds of paper sunk into a stream.

❝ Shut it. ❞ her tone is sharp, stance shifting to one more steady, as she continues. ❝ There's hardly a reason to explain to someone who might as well be begging to be shoved into an early grave. ❞

whether such a claim was true or otherwise would be anyone's guess, something she has no true knowledge of. rather, she focuses instead, grip taught upon the handle before twirling the large blade with relative ease within her grasp. two fingers press against its crimson metal, pressed upon the cool surface before swiping down its edge as ink pools upon her finger, soon enough flicked toward his feet. turning her hand, fingers lift as if to instruct the fresh stroke of ink. and were childe not observant, he would hardly see the way it forms as it hits upon the ground.

before long, the inky ichor blossoms into an array of thorny vines, seeking to ensnare him within their piercing grasp—

At this moment, he had nothing. Childe's foul legacy was something he could brag and boast about with unnerving ease when given the opportunity. To be without his usual weapons and strength was concerning, but his expression didn't betray the hunger that still lingered behind his gaze. At the mention of an 'early grave', the corners of his lips tugged more upward. He was excited, and even if considered foolish for how abrasive he was, Childe wouldn't care. This was his moment to shine, albeit not to his full extent, but he couldn't exactly be choosey given the situation he was in. He knew he was at a disadvantage, and yet, the naked truth of his predicament only pushed his courage, as though this man knew no fear, and laughed in the face of death.

"Your confidence is infectuous!" Childe cried. He would've liked to hear more of it, but, before he could taunt the stranger more-so, he caught the whisps of the vines seconds before trying to shift his body to evade them. As adept and skilled as Childe was at combat, oftentimes his ego would be his greatest betrayer.

He thought he was okay until he felt something on his leg. Childe wasn't adverse to pain, yet he wasn't immune. Despite how vocal he was, the immediate wince in his expression was enough to make him disappointed in himself. A miscalculation on his part, surely. But he still managed a grin. Childe laughed, breathless. "Ahah! You're quick." Now there was even more of a disadvantage ...

He was still moving. Childe held up his wooden bow. If anything, he could still use hydro-infused arrows, but he was severely limited. Well, now was as good a time as any. Childe's fingers were swift, pulling on the poor excuse of a string, a heap of balled liquid forming before easing into an arrow. Childe then took his first shot, aiming straight for her.

THIS ONE HAS A CONFIDENCE, surely shaped well by his own experiences upon the field, yet one which can only be seen as boasted beyond his knowing in this situation. were he set to annoy her, well, he certainly achieved so with his enthusiasm in selecting her on such a leisurely day. ❝ Hmph. Fine. I'm in a bad mood now, so I will give you my 'Sky Weeps Red' today. ❞ ominous words strung together, little meaning behind anything, unless one knew exactly who they were dealing with.

much like the way the scenery shifts as if in the blink of an eye, those beautiful, pristine structures which have loomed around them now a mere sight of their former glory — buildings fallen to ruin beneath decay and rot, washing away at the crimson rain of blood which falls from the rolling, crimson clouds that cry upon the tragic scene around them. only few would be able to discern the nature of this change from reality to one of a painting itself. and now, as if belonging amid the scene, the artist of it all stands with a makeshift blade of ink in hand as his smile is met with her piercing gaze.

The most enticing things are always ones that are just out of his reach. Childe doesn't know what to expect, but that doesn't deter him from asking anyway, because with Childe, there's always no strings attached. Really, as intimate as a fight is in his eyes, it doesn't have to be anything that holds any weight. That is, if he wins, he can gladly call it a day and feel satisfied enough. But it's the pining for it. Maybe he's relentless. He knows this. Childe holds no shame in asking for something over and over, in fact, he could enjoy a little teasing if it means the fight after will be rewarding. No matter what ominous warnings are thrown his way, he smiles as if asking them out for a few drinks.

"Sky Weeps Red?" It is often incredulous to most that he would still be smiling. His smile doesn't last for long this time. As the scenery around him changes, it's instinct that Childe wips out.. well.. whatever he has. In all honesty, he finds everything in ruin to be more beautiful than it was before. The aftermath of the fight is like the lingering taste of something incredibly sweet. The more he looks around, the more excited he gets. Like eating a birthday cake and then wanting more. His hunger, as usual, is intatiable.

"Oh," Childe says.

Come on. He can't help it. Childe doesn't exactly hold back his grin, which is even wider than before. That shine in his eye is twinkling. He feels exhilarated. "You'd do that to me? This is amazing! What did you do, exactly?" He has a pathetic excuse for a weapon, but that only makes things more interesting. If asked, Childe would call it an acquired taste. "Sorry, can't help myself. You've just made the perfect arena for a fight. Are you sure you don't want one as well? Unless you're just teasing me."

IT'S ONLY WHEN HE ADDRESSES HER, sudden and to the point, that she fully pays attention to everything, the expectant look which lays waiting in the eerie stillness of his eyes. ❝ Mm? ❞ more so a genuine wonder of why her, of all people, when there were other, more than likely, suitable choices.

❝ Why should I? You seem the one most eager than anyone here. ❞ well, she could only surmise the reason, given she hardly knows this person. ❝ But that's probably why you're asking what it'll take. It could be more than you can deal with. ❞

More than he can deal with? It is exactly words like this than can entice and capture Childe in an vice-like grip, to which he would gladly get snatched up and tossed into whatever fray she can give him, because with his request there is the absence of fear, but instead an unexplained hunger that is endless. Childe doesn't exactly explain himself when it comes to this. His thirst for a fight knows no bounds when it comes to what methods he will use to get that fight. It doesn't matter who he's asking. Childe isn't that kind of judgemental.

"Haha, is that so? We can see about that, can't we? I don't mind finding out." It's a little teasing. Childe can't help but roll his left shoulder in response, as though the two of them are already standing on a battlefield. "Well then? Does that mean you'll take my offer? I'm more than willing for you to show me. Don't tease me now. I can show you what I'm made of too." With this, Childe smiles, as if he'd just exchanged a compliment or two.

"I'm ready when you are. What about right here, right now?"

much to his dismay, this particular establishment is busy, and childe finds himself parched. the weather here is certainly a lot different to snezhnaya. and whilst this is not too out of the norm for him considering he does travel a lot, childe has always been lucky to find a place to wine and dine without having to walk too far.

he's looking expectant, despite having had a very unfortunate track record of being rejected countlessly this past week. it seems the citizens of spirale don't take kindly to any proposals that childe is making.

mikoto had found himself on the ground, hand clutched into his shirt, the cage of his ribs rattling as he tried to catch his breath- sure, this had to be fake.

sure, this had to be some sort of joke, or mistake, or hallucination.

but wasn't this a bit too close- isn't the threat on his life just a bit too close?

he had watched this clear stranger take down that- whatever that was- with nothing but bare hands and a cheerful smile. grey eyes meet brilliant blue, and lips flutter trying to find the words and fail.

eventually, mikoto simply blurts out,

"th-that was incredible...!"

okay, fangirling wasn't going to get the two of them anywhere. he pulls himself to his feet and hastily dusts the dirt and sand off of his rear. "i-i'm sorry, are you alright? you saved my ass...!"

how could he even begin to think about shelter when this guy was out here playing hero to begin with? still, the taller man was making a point, and he finally drags his eyes away from the imposing red-haired figure in front of him, the twitching remains of some horrendous grotesque, to the seasalty and hazy horizon.

"shelter... r-right... we should go together, don't you think?"

The last person Childe can think of that has given him such a reaction was his younger brother, Teucer. In fact, Teucer is about the only person that would look at Childe like this, albeit in an entirely different scenario. He has wondered if Teucer would give the same reaction, knowing Childe's violent nature. Probably not.

It surprises Childe, just a little. He doesn't need an ego boost. There's little that can already top what motivation and reason he gives himself on a daily basis, but, it still makes him pause for just a moment, if not to take in an otherwise abnormal response. All he did was strike at whatever had been in their way, and with much enthusiasm and hunger, at that! Childe's smile turns into a toothy grin.

"Just wrong place at the wrong time, huh?" He asks. If anything, his intention was more on getting his hands on whatever blood he can, than whoever else was caught on the crossfire. It had been a tit for tat; a lucky strike, and a win/win for them both. "Yeah, sure." Nothing wrong with a little company. "Do you fight? Or...."

It'd hardly make a difference otherwise. In truth, Childe has always been a lone wolf when it comes to a battlefield. "If not, you can stick close to me. We're bound to run in to more, unless we get lucky." He quickly wipes at his mouth before taking his first step. "Got any clues on what's happened here?"
