Fuck my governess fr she took my plum pudding
i feel like we don't appreciate these days how much the twin towers sucked, like, design-wise
they were contemporarily hated for just being these giant grey monoliths
like there probably could've been an easier way to get rid of them, but they probably needed to go either way
crying at this. the curb is brutalist. the sidewalk is brutalist. house made of concrete bricks is brutalist. lmao??
it's (still) too damn hot
this is an example of a symbiotic relationship
I’m in love with this stupid shirt
kind of harmonically beautiful
A frustrating part of the mainstream vegan “love all animals and protect the environment” mindset is the fact that things need to die in real-life ecology all the time but deer hunting season makes icky feelings and carp culls aren’t cottagecore
The vegan “any animal death ever is morally wrong” mindset doesn’t hold up when:
We don’t have any of the large predators we used to (black bears, mountain lions, or gray wolves) but still retain large deer populations. If nothing is removing animals, they’ll quickly overload the carrying capacity of the environment and have massive losses to starvation and disease that can also pass on to livestock. Human hunters replace the large predators that our landscape can no longer support.
It’s kinder to euthanize an un-releasable hawk rather than try to find it a permanent home with humans. Wildlife rehabs have extremely limited space and resources and are usually run entirely on donated money and volunteer time. Only a few are large and stable enough to care for permanent residents long-term, and those spots are few and far between.
An invasive species poses a danger to threatened native wildlife. I will admit- Australian possums are adorable. But not in New Zealand, where they’re an invasive species that eats the eggs of ground-dwelling birds that previously had no such predators. The landowners I worked with replanting native bush, all native Maori, had no qualms about setting the dogs on them.
I don’t know how to end this except. Sometimes things just gotta die and acting otherwise just isn’t a realistic expectation.
Highlights from the notes over the past 6 months include a lot of angry vegans saying “you’re blowing things out of proportion, no vegans actually think like this!” and a lot of people who work in conservation and education saying “Every day. I have to fight people who think like this.”
As a bonus this post was originally inspired by the vegan who called me racist for saying we should kill invasive species
if you're taking a sexy photoshoot with a firearm i think you need to keep the vector of nakedness to gun size at a maximum length
if you've got a handgun then like, some jeans and boots and a plate carrier is probably the nakedest you can get but if you have a anti-materiel rifle you can definitely get away with like just some panties or something
and then if you wanna get well and truly naked you probably need some sort of artillery piece
@princessdollknight - thoughts ?
will need to do some more testing..... unclear how naked i can get away with being having multiple long guns but also there's DEFINITELY a correlation between overall gun length and sexiness
NOTHING! IT'S POWERED BY PURE MAGIC!
From the replies:
"The Space Command is a product of mechanical engineering rather than electrical. By pressing a button on the remote, you set off a spring-loaded hammer that strikes a solid aluminum rod in the device, which then rings out at an ultrasonic frequency. Each button has a different length rod, thus a different high-frequency tone, which triggers a circuit connected to a microphone in the television to finish the command. " (https://boingboing.net/2023/08/03/the-magic-of-the-original-zenith-remote-control.html)
yeah it's great.
Traditional (1970s-2010s) IR remotes are flashlights Modern smart remotes are radios The Zenith Space Command is a glockenspiel
sorry kids daddy lost all his money betting on rhinoceros beetle fights again there won't be a christmas this year
good news babies, momma just cleared some chump of everything. Two christmases this year. God i love beetles fighting
A tragic element of California is that sometimes just the walk from your home to your car will generate enough sweat to ruin your makeup. Luckily my suave devil-may-care affect looks good with messy mascara. Yet another way that I am perfect. Also I will never die.
A 19-year-old black trans girl was shot to death this month, and there has been absolutely no media reporting on it - despite extensive reporting on almost identical incidents in the same part of Florida, at the same time. The police, as usual, misgendered her in the police report and have done nothing to find her killer. Her name was Jayla Mcgee. Black trans people deserve to grow old.
Police misgendered Jayla McGee, local media overlooked her homicide, and her community was left to make sure she was not erased.
the thing about being bullied for being weird as a kid is that even if you've always embraced being weird your brain is still always looking for the line where it's too much. you can be as proudly and intentionally weird as you want and you can love being weird but your mind is still convinced there's a point where you get too weird and people start treating you like a weird looking bug again. also it feels like you reach that point 500 times a day even if everyone you've spoken to today found you pleasant and likable and even if you're completely alone in your house with nobody looking at you at all.
@demilypyro
sometimes a genderswap manga will directly touch on the nature of transmisogyny
getting tme people to acknowledge this is like pulling teeth
Sis IDK how to tell you this as an intersectional feminist, but if a woman is freely doing a "guy's role" and it "doesn't matter", there was probably a century or FIVE where it did matter very much and a lot of very brave people fought to change that standard to what you know it to be now.
This logic that I've seen from TMA people is dangerously close the same logic I saw from White and South East Asian people in America who wanted to get rid of DEI for Black people in education , in that it has to ignore a not so distant past where Black Americans were so discouraged to better themselves they could lynched for trying and that's before you could even get into the building to experience the racism of educational institution
In our gender case this ignores that women were literally lobotmized, beaten or worse for engaging in "masculine activities" like wearing pants or holding a job outside of domestic work, this ignores how feminists over years had to fight for the right for women to be in "male dominated jobs" after getting them the right to work at all and are in an ongoing fight to be treated and compensated fairly still in those spaces
Also saying this as an avid One Piece fan, I would not get my gender philosophy uncritically from the media of a country that famously has a gnarly misogyny problem If you're gonna share this on tumblr dot hell to prove your point the least you could do is think critically about the culture and history that led to that line resonating with you and any potential blindspots the author or you might have
Put down the gender swap manga and pick up any kind of historical record about gender discrimination Let's start here
i made a little joke and you decided to be a condescending asshole about it. do you think i learned this from the manga, or am i noting how it recognizes something i already knew? do you think im unaware of of the history of misogyny? am i as a (trans) woman not allowed to make a joke if i dont account for any and all exceptions?
for that matter, are YOU aware of transmisogyny historically? have YOU looked at any historical record or academic writing on transmisogyny? Are you aware of how "men" who lived as women have been historically treated? do you even realize how you are implicitly treating "tma people" and "women" as mutually exclusive categories right now?
I regularly revisit the work of women like Silvia Rivera and Marsha P Johnson as well as Janet Mock my lense of understanding trans misogyny is also racialized as a Black Non Binary person. So with that in mind I am sorry I made it feel as though tma people and women are separate classes.
Jokes are not above critique especially if the joke has tinges of lacking or omitting historical framework or presents a dichotomy that needs way more nuance and context to be fully graped.
So youre understanding of transmisogyny doesn’t even go back a full century and youre sticking to your guns that I’m a misogynist for my joke. Fuck off
Please highlight where in this post did I say or imply "you're a misogynist".
Also I understand that it might not have occurred to you that looking at transness through a Black racialized lens means looking at how African culture before and after colonial rule dealt with gender roles which does go back centuries.
And yet you are not referring to any of that. This is the first time you’ve mentioned that in this post.
And accusing me of ignoring or not knowing the history of misogyny is implying I’m a misogynist. Don’t fucking mince words now. You know what you were doing with your addition
so you blocked me before i could respond to this one, but i think its worth it for everyone else to ask who moved the goal posts here. The person who vaguely gestured to african culture (singular because i guess thats just one culture to you) on a post about "japanese media" (a weird way to describe a post about one fucking manga) to justify their rant about how tma people engage in rhetoric that erases misogyny women face, or me, who made the fucking post in the first place. who approached in bad faith here? me, making a post on my own blog about a gender bender in a similar vein to posts on other gender bender manga ive made in the past? or someone who saw that post and assumed i must have learned about gender from those manga and nothing else AND that i must not know about the history of misogyny.
