Honestly, upon watching Iron Lung again, I think the way a lot of fanfic of bloodymary represents Simon is off. He's sweet, he's scared, he just wants to live. His rough, loud reactions are understandable due to the intensely stressful situation he's in.
He's just as gentle as Grace is. It's just that their circumstances are wildly different.

The encounters don’t always go as planned…
Puzzling it out. They're at the beginning stages of communication and Simon has been drawing them pictures in addition to working through the language barrier, but it's been hard. It doesn't help that Simon has obviously has some recent trauma and it's clear he and Grace have very different coping mechanisms.
I really want to re-watch Iron Lunggggg. I am absolutely going to buy a dvd so I don't really want to pay to rent it in the mean time but MAN.
