I’m singing in the colored rain 😊☔
Love how this little VFX study turned out! I created it quite a while ago, but had no time to GIFify it. However I had some spare time recently and I found a nice and easy way to create a perfect loop. Hope you like it! I created it in Unity using particle systems and looped it in AfterEffects. From Unity I exported it frame by frame with a script. In AE I overlapped the rendered frames and used the "lighter color" mode which worked great for this kind of effect.
Say hi to Taurus - my new artwork upgrade!
For hiqher quality click here: https://vimeo.com/222595903 And for the original illustration here: http://rendemart.tumblr.com/post/155145024382/an-illustration-of-my-zodiac-taurus-i-wanted-to
The illustration was done by @rendemart - everything else was done by me.
I did most of the work in Unity, but firstly I used Maya to project the illustration on a 3D model. This is a rather unconventional workflow and I know about tools like Spine for 2D animation (and I probably going to try it next time) but I wanted to see how far I can get with my approach. In Unity I added all the effects and I tried out the trails and light particle system modules for the first time - it's impressive what you can achieve with them! Except for the body everything consists of sprites. I got the PSD from Ren so I exported as many separate layers as I needed to use them as single sprites.
This project took way longer than expected. It was fun to upgrade Taurus and I learned a lot ...but I think I'll go for smaller VFX projects from now on :D
Finally I can share my newest work with you - an ‘upgraded’ version of an illustration by @rendemart. I enjoyed working on this feathery little guy called Zill and I also learned a lot while adding a bit more liveliness to this artwork.
It’s made with Unity so all effects are played back in real time and could be used exactly the same for a game. Have a look at the original illustration of Zill to see what my starting point for this artwork upgrade was: http://rendemart.tumblr.com/post/153039020524/rendem-one-of-my-personal-characters-zill-he

A wonderful new year to everyone! I wish you all the best of luck, health and happiness!
We want to show our appreciation to everyone who played and supported our game NIVA. It’s thrilling and heartwarming to see how many of you like our game! Thank you so much!!
In this little collaboration I added some visual effects magic to the illustration made by @rendemart . It’s fascinating how a static 2D drawing can come to life in this way. All of these animations are made with Unity. There are more upgraded artworks I’m working on, so stay with me if you like this one!
NIVA

“A pacifistic exploration art game.”
“The player slips into the role of a mighty forest god to restore the harmony in a mesmerizing forest and relieve it of a mysterious infestation. This shuddersome, mothlike infestation is drawn to the conflicts of the forest’s inhabitants.
“Through observation and by using the abilities of nurturing and withering fascinating plants, the player can solve said conflicts. NIVA’s scenic art style, relaxing music and simple but intriguing game mechanics invite you to explore the forest and have a rest from the stressful everyday life.”
