Is Mona Lisa permanently taken?
Hey there
She is currently taken by one of our admins, but we’re willing to reopen her for other players!
A quick heads up & GOOD NEWS!
After much deciding, it’s been set -- Franklin will be getting a new look, new characters, pretty much a total revamp -- and this small town RP will but up and running MAY 9TH!
Lisa “Mona Lisa” DeCarlo | 30 | The Trailer Park | Beautician | TAKEN | FC: Marisa Tomei (MCV)
“She couldn’t hurt a fly.” “Yeah, but she’ll kill you with a look.”
Bio: Mona Lisa Francesca DeCarlo is a force to be reckoned with. Born and raised in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, NY, this quick-witted city slicker is a woman who lets few things pass her by. Mona is no stranger to the looks and stares of confusion she often gets while walking down the streets of Franklin. Many wonder, “Why is she dressed like that?” or “What’s with that look on her face?” Usually the most frequent topic of interest is simply, “What is she doing here?” Well, according to Mona herself, her journey to the south was no short-lived road trip. Leaving New York City in her early 20′s, Mona traveled the country, and eventually began working as a freelance beautician. She even spent a few years in Los Angeles acquiring her license. But Mona’s passion did not always lie in the world of looking great; the New Yorker holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. Mona’s original plan was to be a therapist and help people - something that goes hand-in-hand with her hospitable nature. But once she began working in the field, she found her clients to be too dull, drab and depressing. She tried her best to stay in the job, but her straightforward, personable manner overshadowed her professional skills a bit too much. Her clients complained to her super, and not long after was Mona denounced from her position and let go by the firm. It was this downward career spiral that led Mona to travel through all 50 states, although never leaving the country. Now you may be wondering, where did she get the means to travel? Well, let’s just say that Mona had a few uncles in power back home at the time who would do her any favor - no questions asked. And so she took her things and left Bensonhurst in her cousin’s old beaten-up Cadillac, ready to see what the world had in store for her. She met many friends - and men - along the way, and eventually she ended up in Tennessee. Mona originally lived in Nashville, but found that she wasn’t  too fond of all the hustle & bustle. Then when her money began to run low, she decided it was time to be smart a lay low for a while - find someplace quiet where she could hopefully start a business. And so, she found herself in Franklin, a Brooklyn transplant with a fire inside ready to take on whatever the world has to offer her next. She opened a small salon, where she offers cheap but good quality styling and advice. Mona decided that Franklin is where she’ll be, at least for a while. So, need some help, or maybe beauty advice? Mona Lisa is your go-to woman. Don’t ask her her age, though, unless you’re looking for a bit of trouble.
Personality Traits & Key Details: • Feisty & Witty • Caring • Intelligent --> Mona is pansexual, though she shares this with few as she likes to keep her personal life private. Mona is not currently involved monogamously, and sees no problem having many physical partners at once, or sometimes, none. --> Though many people perceive her as a airy, unintelligent New Yorker who passes the time by chewing gum and smoking cigarettes, her demeanor is quite the contrary. Mona is a highly intelligent woman with a deep interest in psychology and the mind. She is fascinated by the things people do and why they do them. Despite her exterior and presentation, she has a wealth of knowledge to offer, in many different walks of life. --> She would give you the last dollar she had and the clothing off of her back - that is, if she liked you. Mona is a sweet, caring and compassionate woman who likes to empower others. But cross her, and you’re in for a whole new kind of New York “hospitality”.
Connections: • Mona keeps in close contact with the majority of her clientele. This includes suburbanites like Maria Buchanan, Cheyenne Landry, and well as townies like Hannah Hartley and fellow Parker Roxanne Riley. • Mona is an extremely friendly and personable woman, and has many friends who come and go. While she is very close with some, it is often the case that someone in Mona’s life is “here today, gone tomorrow”.
Franklin’s back.
Hello fellow RPers,
This is admin Lulu back with good news! After nearly a year of inactivity, I’m happy to announce that this roleplay is getting a full revamping, and will becoming ACTIVE within the next few days. It’s going to be a process, but the more apps we get, the quicker we can get back up and running!
I dealt with a slew of family and school issues last year and unfortunately just didn’t have the time to commit to this RPG. But I am happy to say that we are back, and we look forward to receiving all the townies we can handle.
OCs are welcome!
Please message us if you have any questions, suggestions, or just want to say hello. We look forward to having you in the town :)
Maria wants ya’ll to know that this RP will be in full force very soon...
Dear RPers,
As you may have already noticed, this new roleplay has not been very active in the past week. We lost our second admin, and I (Lulu) have been swamped with end-of-year schoolwork as well as family issues. I'm sad that I haven't been giving this RP the attention I was when I first began nurturing it.
I'm writing this to let you know that despite our break in activity, we are NOT CLOSING! I am the sole admin of this roleplay now, and I just need some time to prioritize, get the last of the characters up, and really start promoting the right way to get the most amount of activity possible! I ask only for your patience and cooperation at this time. All current RPers are welcome to continue as they please; I will be adding tasks, taking applications, and creating new characters very soon.
As of now, applications are still OPEN. I will be as active as I can, and by May 11th (when I am officially done with school for the Summer), I plan to give this RP the full attention it deserves.
So please, keep on creating, keep on sending in OC or Canon applications - and don't lose faith! Franklin will soon be restored.
That's all for now my loves.
Sincerely, Lulu

“The perfect mix of city and country - Franklin Tennessee is the place you wanna be.” It is present day.  The town is Franklin, Tennessee, and its heart is its people.  You have your townies, those who live in the Downtown Franklin; you have your suburbanites who live in the Countryside just outside of town; you have your dwellers, the ones who live on the outskirts, or refuse to tell you where they’re from, or who maybe don’t have a home at all. Then there are those who live in the Trailer Park, and not to mention the outsiders - those who are watched the most. It isn’t that the people of Franklin are not accepting; Southern hospitality runs strong through this small town’s veins. But outsiders can be tricky; it is rarely known just why they’ve come to Franklin, especially those who stay. The town itself is extremely close knit. It is rare that you’ll meet someone who doesn’t somehow know someone else - and if word gets around about one of the townspeople, you best believe there are few people who won’t hear about it. But the he social aspect of a small town filled with gossip, there is also hospitality. The townspeople look out for one another, regardless or where they reside. The most important thing to remember about this town is this: few people come, few people leave. Many remain as they are. There will always be an open door if one is needed, but this does not mean everyone can be trusted. Be cautious, be aware. There is more to this town than you would think. And if you go looking, you just mind find exactly what that means.

Shrader Agnes Gallagher | 21 | Outsider | Student Athlete & Writer | TAKEN | OC | FC: Jennifer Lawrence
“You lock the door on her, she locks the door on you. Ain’t nobody come to save her ass.”Â
Franklin. Fucking Franklin. F-Town. Anyway you say it, spell it, hear it, mouth it, spit it, it sounds the same. To the Gallagher’s, it always sounded like home. They were never very well-to-do. Just didn’t happen for them. The Gallagher family had never left Tennessee and probably never would. A family raising their children with the moral compasses of diehard Christians among the flocks of Christians of TN, “repent and serve penance,” “alert the church elders” and all that. Something went wrong when they started having children—that is, their daughters were quickly too smart for their own good. Shrader, Dolly, and Camella (”Cammie”). Three girls, all blonde, all strong personalities, all too big for the confinements of small town life. Shrader grew up as the athletic of the family, and the writer. This balanced well with Dolly’s interest in music and Cammie’s talkative tendencies. The eldest Gallagher loved sport, and she loved reading—most of both was basketball and that e. e. cummings guy. In her spare moments she either had a basketball or a book in her hands. She had a few friends. There was that boy from the football team, Terry, who liked to discuss poetry behind the Burger King. And Alfred, she gave the math quiz answers to him. Mario would play one-on-one with her in the church parking lot anytime she wanted. It was a good childhood, until she started to lose faith in the God her parents so dutifully constructed for them. It started mostly at night, when she would come home from practice and find her house filled with strangers. Tall men, fat women, big-headed blacks and skinny-ass whites. “Living in the outskirts of town, Shay,” her father would say, swirling the whiskey around in his glass and huffing a breath of the smoking bud between his fingers, “makes you realize some things.” What things? she would ask. He would reply, “That no matter what you try, ain’t nobody come to save your ass.” He was a reverend. Well, used to be. When Momma started showing bruises on her face was when Shrader knew their lives together were changing. The tables, chairs, floor would be littered in liquor bottles and loose change by morning. She would lock her sisters up in their rooms and wait it out until daylight. At night, when it would get bad, men would pull her aside and ask her what she was doing there. Say they saw her picture in the paper, and why was a famous basketball player in a place like that? She’d reply that she lived there. Then they would leave her alone. Cammie was too little to realize when their father had gone and didn’t come back, and Shrader hasn’t brought it up. Shrader stuck to her studies and basketball and made it through high school with flying colors. She was a tristate record, scoring over 20 points in under 7 minutes in her freshman semifinal game. Her writing was published in the school newspaper each semester. And she used the money from her two jobs at the diner and the paper to pay for notebooks for herself, new clothes for her sisters. Her athletic prowess earned her a scholarship to the only college she knew she could afford to go to—the one on the other end of town. So she took it. Basketball, the newspaper, and her family. What else could she want?
Personality Traits & Key Details: • Maternal • Stubborn • Loyal --> Shrader is heterosexual, and she is a virgin. --> Shrader is a reflective extrovert, who likes to joke around but knows how to drop into serious conversation. Her sisters are the most important things in her life, and anybody who threatens the system they’ve got going better watch out, because the tomboyish, motherly wrath of Shrader is a force to be reckoned with. --> She has no intention of leaving Franklin without her sisters, and plans to raise them until they’re both 18. This has forced her to be strong against following in her drunken mother’s footsteps, though sometimes she finds herself tempted when the goings get tough. Connections: - OPEN -

Shrader had always been a happy kid.
From the time she was small to all grown up, she smiled—the smile that used to make her father shine, the smile that told the world Everything’s going to be okay, the smile that reassured her that it was perfectly all right to roll with the punches. Happy-go-lucky, optimistic, bright-eyed. That was Shrader Gallagher born and bred, that was supposed to be college-girl Shrader, newly adjusted and getting on fine. She kept trying to smile just the same, knowing life was much better when it was seen through a positive, uplifted eye. She couldn’t blame anyone but herself for the way she was feeling, and that should have made it easier to smile. Ignore the bad thoughts and move onward, move upward, keep on moving. Just keep going. But there she sat with a bottle of wine in her hands, unopened and tempting, wondering what it was about this deep, rich drink that made her mother forget everything bad in the world.
It was her own fault for being so isolated. She was good at making friends—knew everyone in town, and they knew her, Miss B-Ball, but every time she left for class, she was wondering what was happening at home; what she was missing. What was going wrong. Tonight, she sat at home, in a rare moment of quiet, no dorm to speak of (couldn’t afford it), no roommates to chat with, no parties to attend. She tried sifting through her phone, seeing who in her contacts she could possibly call. For anything. A hangout, a hug, if she could cry to anyone. But Shrader Gallagher didn’t cry in front of people. She cried only by herself, where no one could see. No one could know she was unhappy. That was her secret and hers alone. If people knew she cried, they wouldn’t just leave her—they’d run away. She was Shrader. Happy. Healthy. Weird. That was who she was supposed to be. But that wasn’t how she felt lately. So she stared at the bottle, her hand itching to unscrew the cap and down it in one huge gulp.
It was selfish, wanting someone to put her first. It was desperate and it was self-pitiful and it was petty and it was wrong. But she needed it. She needed a person. Someone to lean on. Someone she didn’t have to be strong around. Someone to show her kindness and affection. Someone to listen, someone to laugh, someone to hold her and for once tell her that everything was going to be all right. So she stared down at the bottle, wondering, hoping, debating whether or not the drink was destined to be that someone. The someone to cradle her. And love her. And hear her. And dry her tears and whistle with her laugh. She wondered if her mother had ever thought the same thing.
She ran through her contacts for the hundredth time. Shrader felt something in her stomach hollow out, and she failed to suck in a breath, as if all the air had left the room. She wanted to go home. She wanted to go home.
The problem was, she was home.
She was feeling sorry for herself and she knew it. She was scared and she didn’t want to be. She wanted to be the one to barge into a room and force someone to be her friend, but she couldn’t. She used to be that person. She wanted to be that person again. She wanted to be happy and she wanted to smile and she wanted to laugh, dear God, she wanted to laugh. She didn’t need anything else. All she needed to make her happy was to laugh. But the joke was on her and the punch line was the bottle of wine in her hands. Maybe the wine would have to be the comedian. Then, maybe then, she would finally laugh.
Everyone had their vices. And everyone was allowed to have someone. A person. Her person just happened to be shaped in glass, with a long neck and a screwtop hat. Red blood on the inside, just like anybody else. It would keep her company, if only for a night.
The packaging cracked as she twisted the top off and tossed it into the garbage. She didn’t think twice. She knocked the bottle back with her lips pressed to the mouth of the glass and she drank. She swallowed. Once, twice, three times, four times. Until her mouth was fuzzy and half the bottle was gone. She inhaled. Exhaled. One thousand one. One thousand two. One thousand three. Then she downed the rest.
A few minutes later and the room was spinning. She laid on her bed, staring at the swirling ceiling, her hand resting over her churning, bloated belly. Her mind fogged, slowly, thoughts turning pleasant and body ultimately relaxed. Her heartbeat slowed to a calm thump, one after the other, eyes a hazy blur and glossed over. She snickered to herself. Euphoria. Only for one night. Bliss. Calmness, stillness, happiness. She didn’t feel burdened at all. She had escaped and tomorrow would be better. She giggled, taking out her phone and texting someone, she didn’t see their name, could’ve been anyone, really, someone from school, someone from another planet, I want you to fuck me. The text made her laugh and it felt good to laugh. Her apple blossom cheekbones turned a pretty pink, blue eyes shining. Her hands tingled and turned heavy. Her eyelids dropped. The room got warm and she stripped down to her underwear, laying over her bed, her limbs starfishing across the mattress and fingers curling into the bed sheets. Whoever she had texted, she thought with another giggle, she hoped they wanted to fuck her, too.
With an uncoordinated swing of her legs, she stood up and teetered. Music, she needed music. She kicked the bottle on the way to the stereo, just managing to slide Southside Johnny into the player and pushing the button. His earthy, gritty voice sounded through her room and she, in only a bra and panties, danced with the curtains open. Danced by herself, danced to make herself happy again. This was Shrader Gallagher. Smiling, laughing, dancing, pretending nobody else in the world existed. Even if it did take a little help. Wine was her catalyst. Her mother was the reminder not to let it become a habit. But tonight, she was an addict.

Dr. Rex Wilder | 37 | Dweller | Psychiatrist | OPEN | FC: Robert Downey Jr.
"He's absolutely out of his mind." "So it everyone he treats.”
We don’t know where he lives. We don’t know where he’s from. We don’t even know what he’s doing in Franklin - but it’ll almost seem irrelevant once you meet him. For his entire life, Rex Wilder’s reality was always a bit different than everybody else’s. No one could pinpoint the reason exactly; the man’s views just seemed to be a bit more skewed than those of a normal person. As far as psychiatrists go, Rex is about as sharp as they come. He is extremely patient with everyone he works with, which is an endlessly good quality. He’s not judgmental of the “crazies”, seeing as he feels at time like he could use a shrink himself. You could ask Rex how he got into being a psychiatrist in a small town in Tennessee, it’s not so guaranteed he would tell you, though. That’s mostly due to the fact that Rex doesn’t really know himself. It’s been said that Rex had worked in the psych ward at some fancy hospital in Nashville, and they had to let him go because he was crazy himself and making friends with all the patients. Although that sort of information just blows with the wind here in Franklin, it doesn’t sound so far from the truth, seeing as Rex often thinks of himself as one of his patients. One thing’s for sure - he loves to make you think. Riddles and philosophy are his specialty, and even so, he almost always finds just how to get through to his patients. Just remember, though, if you don’t find yourself questioning authority, the world, and life itself after an encounter with Dr. Rex Wilder, then surely you’re doing something wrong.
Personality Traits & Key Details: • Witty • Perplexing • Seductive --> Dr. Wilder is heterosexual. He is extremely charming, and knows how to get a woman interested and into bed. Though he has indeed had relationships with many of his clients, Rex knows the professional consequences of doing so, and tries to avoid it as best he can.
Connections: • He is incredibly close, both personally and professionally with co-worker and psychologist Anita St. Cloud. Rex has expressed interest in the woman, though there is no evidence that the two have had a romantic relationship. • He has many clients of the town.
Riley Tyree | 21 | The Countryside | Student & Mechanic | OPEN | FC: Zac Efron
"Hear he’s got a way with the ladies, huh?" "Yeah, his way."
At first glance Riley Edison seems like the perfect gentleman. Charming, comes from money… not too hard on the eyes, either But like many of Franklin’s “finest”, underneath that luring voice and warm smile lies someone much, much darker. Riley Tyree was brought up with a good head on his shoulders; the only child of two well-off investors. Raised on an oil-well farm in out parts of the Countryside of Franklin, Riley had everything a boy should and more. But everything wasn’t enough; the once-simple country boy sought more. He didn’t know what… Riley just knew he craved more than what the 20-acre land he called home had to offer. He knew he always had a taste for the more dangerous things in life, that was for sure. While his mother and father tried to raise him with class, Riley was always out late with friends, riding dirt bikes and calling out to girls while revving their engines… really anything to call attention to others, and rile up his parents enough to notice that he wasn’t going to be the obeying, proper country boy they wished to raise. Yes, he came from money, but he was no uppity snoot, at least on the outside. Riley has always liked to get his hands dirty, in more ways that one. He has an eye for trouble and can rarely stay out of it for long. Riley also discovered that he was good with his hands, and he had a great interest in all things cars, engines, and parts. When he was fifteen his father agreed to let Riley to put his interests to use, and he became an apprentice at Franklin Auto Body repair under owner Liam Morrow. This was much to his mother’s dismay, of course, who wanted to see her son in a suit and tie walking pageant girls down a white carpet - he might as well be holding a rose between his teeth. Riley played along with this for quite some time, actually, trying best he can to please his sweet, small-minded mother. He even dated the girl his mother wished for him, but his non-monogamous ways made that complicated quite quickly. He went to college too, mostly because he knew his parents could afford it and it would make them happy to see their son succeeding. He attends King University, where he studies business; though Riley’s idea of what “business” is is quickly becoming tainted. Now at 21, a firecracker and a troublemaker, RIley is losing his attempts at good-boy-hood, and fast. While the money he makes as a mechanic at the Autobody Shop is enough to support recreational habits outside of school, it is not enough, and Riley is quickly moving onto the next step. Through Liam, who is known for dealing in corrupt business with the likes of illegitimate businessmen such as Vince McCarthy and Nick Ford, Riley is learning the tricks of the trade. He is eager to merge into the business, much to the hesitation of Ford and McCarthy. The main suppliers do not like outsiders, particularly young kids who make mistakes. But Riley is ruthless and confident, and believes he will soon reach that point of dangerous, sweet wealth. Aside from living on his parent’s farm, attending school and working, the boy spends a fair amount of his days partying, drinking and socializing at spots such as the Wildhorse, the town’s most popular bar.  Whether he’s been hitting the bottle, which, recently, has more times than not or stone-cold sober, you can bet on Riley going home with one of Franklin’s finest. Riley’s relationships with the women of Franklin are as fleeting as they are broad. But it’s a safe assumption that if a girl in the town is young, gullible, or just looking for a good time, they’ve run into the likes of Riley Tyree at least once in their lifetime. Everyone has. And unfortunately, most likely everyone soon will, for better or for worse.
Personality Traits & Key Details: • Cocky • Devious • Adrenaline Junkie --> Riley is heterosexual, and has his way of getting what he wants with women. He is currently single, and while he has tried his hand at monogamous relationships, his wild and reckless lifestyle doesn't leave much room, or tolerance, for it. --> While careful with whom he interacts, Riley is nosy and manipulative, and will do whatever he needs in order to get his way. --> He often uses his charm appeal to get women into bed, only to objectify and recycle them for later. --> While Riley is disliked by many people who know of him and his less-than-noble reputation, the boy still remains popular with both males and females in town. Connections: • Riley has had an on-again, off-again relationship with suburbanite Lyla Guthrie, though he is not faithful to her when the two are “on”. • He is close friends with Angelo McCarthy, a fellow student. Riley is often a poor influence on Angelo but the two remain buddies still. • He works for Liam Morrow at Franklin Auto Body Repair, and the two have a friendly, co-dependent relationship. • Riley has been attempting to get into illegal business with Angelo’s older brother Vince McCarthy, in order to make money and quit his job at the Body Shop. • He is friendly with co-worker Daniel Harlowe, though the two young men are very different.
Maria Buchanan | 26 | The Countryside | Shop Owner | OPEN | FC: Lana Del Rey
“She’s goddamn wild, that one.” “Just let her be.”
Maria Buchanan is all the things many people may seek in a woman: kind, generous, intelligent… not to mention drop dead gorgeous. On the surface and by the energy exudes, it seems that Maria Buchanan never spends a night alone; that she deserves it all. But Maria thinks quite differently, and behind her present facade is something much darker that a free, bright spirit. Maria has always been a small-town girl with big city dreams, though a small town is where she feels most comfortable. She was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama by a pair of all-loving, all-accepting hippie parents. Maria was always a very happy girl, and from a young age was encouraged to become anything she wanted in life. Maria always had a creative edge; since she was a teenager she’s been an incredible painter and visual artists, and has a knack for creating, writing, planting, and giving life to things. was It turns out that Maria was married young, very young. At age 19, she married her Alabama high school sweet heart, a football star by the name of Danny Rose. Danny and Maria were the talk of their town; they were that couple that everyone either wanted to be friends with or resented out of jealously. But those who idolized the young couple never saw the things that went on behind closed doors. Danny was hotheaded and controlling, and made sure his “girl” was kept in check as he saw fit. He would tell her what to do right down to the clothes she should wear and how she should act around friends. While Maria knew something was not right about their relationship, she was blinded by her love for him, and when Danny wasn’t being a manipulative jerk, he was one of the most amorous people she knew, showering Maria with gifts and promising to be with her forever. He was also one of the few people who expressed interest in Maria from the very beginning; while many people are after her for her looks now, Maria never had much self-confidence, and being considered the “hippie”, alternative type, often fell subject to bullying and name-calling for being such a liberal free spirit in such a small Southern town. So she stayed with what she knew, which was Danny, because he made her feel validated; in his eyes, she was beautiful; she was real. Maria never told her parents about Danny’s manipulative ways because she knew they wouldn’t stand for it; she quickly became an expert on letting people see only the things she wanted them to. Before they knew it, the two were married on Maria’s parents’ garden porch, tying the knot and signing away their loyalty to one another. Not two months later Maria became pregnant, and while unexpected, she couldn’t wait to give birth to and raise a beautiful child. Danny, however, had different motives. He didn’t want a child so early, as he didn’t want his marriage to Maria to compromise his popular and social lifestyle. He blamed Maria for becoming pregnant, saying she must have slept with someone else and did it to herself because the baby wasn’t his. Of course this wasn’t true, and Maria had to live with the fact that the man she just gave her life to did not want what she was providing. But Maria wanted to be a mother, and nurturing was something she was always good at. Even if it was something as small as growing a pot of flowers, or setting free a bug stuck in the house, Maria never let a living thing die. She chose to keep the baby, and when she told her teenage husband, he took his elements of control to the next level. Danny began threatening Maria, telling her that if she did not abort the baby, he would “do it for her”. But this went against her views of preserving all forms of life instilled in her from her parents since birth. He thought he could instill fear in her through abuse, and began putting his hands on the young girl every chance he got. One night while trying to convince Maria to get rid of the baby he beat her up so bad that it broke her nose and cheekbones, and she had to be rushed to the hospital for reconstructive surgery. She told her parents - who somehow believed her - that she fell down the flight of stairs in her home. Maria had kept her pregnancy a secret, but when she was admitted to the hospital, the pregnancy was revealed to her family. While her parents were delighted, Maria knew that if Danny found out her parents knew about the pregnancy, he would hurt her even worse. She swore she’d get away; move back with her parents and raise her child safely. But Maria was young and in denial, not to mention frightened. She went back to her home with Danny, deciding to tell him that she got an abortion at the hospital so he would stop hurting her until she could get away. But the abuse did not stop when the fake news was revealed; Danny had reached a point of no return.  He continued to abuse her, using any instance in which she did not “obey” as an excuse to push her, verbally assault her, smack her. When Maria finally stood up for herself and told Danny she wanted to separate from him, he lost it. He pushed the still-pregnant Maria so she fell down the stairs (for real, this time), causing her to have a miscarriage. Maria began to bleed from in between her legs at the bottom of the stairs, screaming and crying for help/ Panicked, Danny snapped out of his fit of rage, calling an ambulance and fleeing town. When the police came, Maria told them of her account, but it was too late. Danny was gone, and was never found. Maria moved back with her parents in Montgomery, who were both shocked and horrific to hear of what had happened. The couple cared for their daughter for two years until she realized she needed to leave Alabama for good. She wanted to change her life; to go somewhere small no one would think to find her, somewhere she could maybe even start a business selling her creations and flowers or something. And that’s exactly what she did. Maria found a small home in the Countryside of Franklin, Tennessee, with a plot of land for gardening. The home was far away enough from Montgomery that she figured she could not be found by Danny, but close enough to home to still provide the comfort of a small town. Not the mention, the land was a plus. Now, Maria lives every day in fear that Danny will return for revenge on Maria for lying about her pregnancy. She has since opened a shop in Downtown Franklin called “Mystic Mama’s”, where she sells items such as handmade pendants, art pieces, custom accessories for the home and fruits, vegetables, plants and flowers from her garden. Maria’s business is successful enough that she can afford her home on her own, and have enough money to live a simple, creative lifestyle. In Franklin, Maria is quite frankly, and tells people only those things about her past that she wants them to know. Maria seems to care for everyone but herself, and has made many friends, though none too close.

Angelo McCarthy | 21 | Townie | Film Student | OPEN | FC: Dave Franco
“He’s all trouble, that McCarthy kid.” “Believe me, he’s the good one.”
If anyone was ever the poster child for a good boy trying his best to stay good, it was Angelo Michael McCarthy. An expert at living in someone else’s shadow, McCarthy’s entire life revolves around his attempt to stay afloat, at least on his own. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to a prostitute mother and a corrupt father learned from his father before him, Angelo McCarthy has always received the short end of the stick. His brother Vincent four years his elder was always the one favored. From a young age that was clear, and from a young age that was what Angelo accepted. He loved his brother, and he honored his father as he was taught to. But Angelo was always kept in the dark about things, at least until he was old enough, anyway. His father ran a covert, corrupt business out of his own McCarthy’s Boxing Gym, which was inherited from VInce and Angelo’s great-grandfather and has been in the family ever since. Drugs, guns, girls, dirty money - you name it, and it can be tied to the McCarthy family. While the McCarthy men are now for picking up the family’s dirty work, Angelo was wired a bit differently, and as he grew older that quickly became clear. Angelo has always had a keen eye for art - he’s a visionary of many sorts, and lives to capture life’s moments on film and relive them. Angelo has always also been smart, too, a trait that seemed to skip over his brother Vince. Since he was an adolescent he studied hard, and motivated himself to get to college where he could study film. The family definitely had the money, the problem was it wasn’t being used for the right things. While Angelo’s father was still alive, he begged the man for money to put away for college. His father declined, demanding Angelo join the family business instead, that we he would “never have to worry about money”. But that was not the life Angelo wanted; it never was. It was something he was born into but did not choose, and that might be what’s most frustrated. When Angelo’s father passed, the business and the gym were left in the hands of Vincent, who turned McCarthy’s Gym into a goldmine and the outskirts of Franklin’s not-so-best-kept-secret. Even though Vince was a ruthless young man who tried countless times to get Angelo to learn the family trade, he was nothing like the boys’ cut-and-dry father, and he agreed to pay for Angelo to go to King University with a small fund of the business’ money if he’d just consider becoming a part of the activity at McCarthy’s after he graduates. Now, Angelo’s clock is ticking, and time is running out. He knows he is safe while in school, but once he’s done, he’s in for something tricky. If he does not join the business Vince could disown him, and if he does He also doesn’t think he’s cut out for it; Angelo knows nothing about the streets and sticks to the things he knows. Vince was even generous enough to put Angelo up in a small apartment in the town, from which he commutes to school and films a lot of works for others. While his life is set the way it is, Angelo feels his time is running out, and it’s all a matter of how long he can stay out of the game... and in his own skin.
Personality Traits & Key Details: • Passionate • Book-smart • Cautious --> Angelo is heterosexual. He is quite successful with the ladies, but unlike his brother, is very respectful of women and cautious of who he involves himself with. --> While he has his fair share of seemingly meaningless one night stands, Angelo actually seeks monogamous companionship with a woman, and often becomes very nervous when it comes to pursuing a girl for something other than sex. --> Angelo is extremely loyal, especially to his family. He fears that his brother will be his downfall and prevent him from pursuing a real career. However, he is also fearful that his brother will not respect him if he remains out of the family business forever.
Connections: • He is the younger brother of boxing gym owner and illegitimate business runner Vince McCarthy. The two differ greatly in personality and creed, and though Vince tries to manipulate his little brother to be more like himself, the two somehow manage to remain quite close. • He is best friends with Riley Tyree, and the two have grown up together since childhood. But while Angelo tries his best to stay out of his brother’s shadow and live a legitimate lifestyle, Riley can be a bad influence on the young man, and has even attempted to join in business with Vince, much to Angelo’s dismay. • Angelo is close with fellow college students Tyler Hayes and Evan Morrissey, and often films videos and promos for their band Dead Man Running. • Angelo has had long-time feelings for RIley’s on-again, off-again girlfriend Lyla Guthrie, and while the two are amicable, Angelo knows all too well that he cannot pursue the lovely girl due to his close relationship with Riley.
