We flew from Jakarta on June 27th 2017 to Singapore and transit there for 9 straight hours… Thank God it was a Singapore airport! Not bad for 9 hours transit 😉
June 28th 2017 at 7:55am, we leave Singapore to Phuket. It was a mix feelings… we were excited, nervous and tired. We rent a cab from airport registered taxi company, paid THB 1,000 from the airport to Serenity Resort and Residences Phuket in Rawai (it’s around USD 29.56 for an hour drive).
So we arrived in Rawai, Phuket. It was a quiet area and we actually love that area. . . You can rent a motorbike from the bike rent across the street from Serenity, then go to Rawai Beach Market for only 5 mins. Go to Kata area for only 10 mins, go to Karon area for only 15 mins and to Patong for only 25 mins. And you know what? You can also get some Thai massage for 60 mins and it’s only THB 300, the massage place was also across the street from our resort, and it was AWESOME! They stretch me G O O D!!!
We stayed at the resort’s Garden Suite Room, asking for top floor, at the corner and it was huge, calm, relaxing, clean and just the perfect space we wanted for 5 nights! They got the big balcony, facing the garden, the mountain and partial ocean; just awesome for your morning yoga exercises, to fulfill the “holiday soul” with joy 🙂 – click here to see our room – however when one thing perfect, some other things just didn’t meet our expectation. Most of their workers were not getting the proper training. They were rude, defensive and very unprofessional (check my detailed complaints here). But anyway, don’t let the bad service ruin your holiday, aight?!
First day of our trip in Phuket, we were just soaking it in. We were napping for hours and dine-in at the hotel, re-charging our energy after that 9 hours of transit.
The next day, we left our resort at around 9am, went for an Elephant Ride. We were riding a 12 years old “Wahlinthai” (it’s the elephant’s name) – he was so cute and loves to keep rocks in his trunk! 😀 – At first we didn’t really want to ride Wahlinthai, because he was smaller than all the other elephants… We were too scared if we’re too heavy for him. But then he was smiling when my husband and I was touching his head and gave us that playful eyes, so yeaa… we want Wahlinthai more than any other elephants! We had the best ride with Wahlinthai. It was only 15 mins but it was more than enough. Elephants are the best! They calm your hearts with their playful attitude and kind looks. They’re amazing.
Our elephant guide tried to sell some elephant jewelries while we were on the way up to the hill, but we didn’t buy anything from him, then he said “I can take pictures for you with your phone, but tip me” – so yeaa! I like that idea better HA! – Here’s an elephant quote for you “Be so happy that when others look at you, they become happy too.”
After playing with some elephants, we decided to go to Kata Beach and have some late lunch around the beach. One word for Kata Beach, GORGEOUS! Just GORGEOUS! – We stopped for few minutes from first Viewing Point (below left picture) to just soak in the scenery and when we arrived at Kata, the waves was welcoming us with its beautiful sound. It was big and powerful BUT you can still swim around it or through it! – This beach reminds me of Dreamland Beach in Bali. I think it’s almost have the same powerful waves. Picture on the right below was a moment before we swam through the waves and I hit my tail bone to some hard sand after a big wave hit me. Ouch! Still hurts ’til the next two weeks! LOL!
Second day well spent already. I was so grateful that after having such rough months because of work problems, I’m just grateful that I can have a nice holiday and enjoying this new place, exploring with my husband.
We closed our second day by visiting Rawai Beach Market for some fresh seafood dinner! Check out Rawai Beach Market here 😉 – This market has all the best kind of seafood. They even have some gift shops, full of shells and pearls (me loveee!). Oh and this one below is a 7 color lobster, size medium for THB 1.200; but we didn’t buy it, we wanted some muscles and fresh fish instead… HA! So, here in Rawai Market, most fresh fish shops work together with restaurants around the area. You can buy some fish, shrimps, muscles, etc from one of the shop and then after you pay them, they will take you to one of the restaurant that will cook whatever that you buy, the way you like it, and you can eat it there. The restaurant will charge you the cooking service and the drinks you buy from them. Total of cooking service was around THB 60, depending on how many seafoods you have. Check out how our dinner looks like 😉
