No matter your feelings on Bernie Sanders, he is, without a doubt, a Brooklyn Jew. And, as a Brooklyn Jew, he speaks at a LOUD VOLUME with a heavy accent. This was very clear at CNN’s Democratic primary debate last night, and many people on Twitter seemed to be annoyed that, while laying out his proposed policies and trading barbs with the other candidates, the Vermont senator was, indeed, yelling.

In response to the critique of Bernie’s volume/tone/voice, many Jews took to Twitter to say, uh, have you met an elderly Ashkenazi Jewish person before? Because yeah, they shout. A lot. We rounded up the best tweets about the volume of Bernie’s Jewish voice.

We’ve talked about this before, but homesteading-type skills and blogs & vlogs tend to be very nationalist, which isn’t as surprising when you consider the heavy emphasis nationalists put on ‘traditional values’, and the fact that they see many aspects of modern society being the fault of people of color.

It’s a much more extreme form of the neo-colonist mentality that a lot of people find disturbing about (mainly white) people daydreaming about leaving the city and all its dirty evil corrupting brown and black influences, buying a chunk of land and being a farmer—a fantasy that requires a sort of willful refusal to think about indigenous land rights and how heavily tied to prairie shit (literally pushing the indigenous out of land through occupation and warfare) the fantasy is.

Because appeal to traditional values and the myth of self-sustainability both get very closely tied up with traditional skills, you look up a video on how to treat cast iron or properly store onions for longer, and you wind up on pages that with a little digging you realize that the person is at best a couple heartbeats away from fascism

And you have people who feel exhausted and worn down by their lives, who have this false sense of nostalgia for simpler times, who want to emulate what they think was good about it, with the confidence that they’ll be able to pick and choose. You know, learn the skills of a depression era farmhouse without even a scrap of the violent hatred of minorities.

It’s doable of course, but then they’re stumbling into these communities that are very God And Country type nationalist, and from there connections that are openly fascist. A slow step that can lead to internalizing more subtly awful beliefs, that are required to believe more obviously horrifying beliefs…

What I’m saying is that just like we’ve seen interests in the past be used to radicalize young women especially young white men, this is one of the many ways young white women are radicalized into fascism, going from apathetic to convinced there’s a race war coming and they have to be good trad wives and white mothers.

You should be able to learn new skills you’re interested in! It should be fun and safe! But this is a reminder to be very, very careful and to keep ya eyes open.

I am so angry about the heartbeat bills being passed in the South that I can hardly verbalize it. But you know what? I’m not going to mince words or leave out uncomfortable subjects about why I’m so angry. Let me break it down for you.

When I was 15, a man (19/20) who I thought was my friend manipulated, abused, and raped me for 5 months on end. He left me with scars I still have and trauma that still affects my daily life to this day. When I tried to tell him that I thought I was gay, he said that he could “turn me” into being bisexual. This same man is the one who forcefully impregnated me when I refused to leave the state with him. He viewed it as a trade - since I refused to leave with him (i.e. be abducted), it was only fair I let him do so. I did get pregnant. There was infallible evidence of what he had done, and yet he was only given a year of probation as punishment. He wasnt even charged with rape or statutory rape. They charged him with battery and coercion and let him go free.

Meanwhile, I was a 15 year old girl whose life was changed forever. My first step was seeking out a medical abortion, which I couldn’t have because I had passed the 8 week mark. A surgical abortion was denied to me, and 8 months later, my rapist refused to sign over his rights for adoption because he, and I quote, “wanted me to keep the baby.”

I love my daughter and wouldn’t choose a life without her, but I WAS THE BABY. I nearly died when I gave birth. My body will never be the same. I have severe PTSD into my adult life. I am constantly having to explain and “make things uncomfortable” for other people. Up until his death, he was free. I was not. I never will be able to bury the memory of that.

Now, had I been in that situation now and sought out an abortion in Georgia, they could give me THE DEATH SENTENCE. So, rapists walk free while women are being forced to risk their lives for unwanted pregnancies? Or else the government can quite literally steal her life? This is terrifying. This will cost hundreds, if nor thousands, of women and girls their lives. Are you ok with this? Does this sound “pro-life” to you? Women who have miscarriages can be interrogated like suspects. Little girls can be forced to carry fetuses to term without the physical capabilities to handle or survive that pregnancy. How fucking deluded are you if you believe this is a good thing?

Happy fucking mothers day. If you consider yourself pro-life (pro forced birth) or voted for these bills, stay the hell away from me. Reproductive freedom can only be achieved once women have total control over whether or not they get pregnant or give birth. I am going to fight for the freedom, life, and well-being of the actual living in this situation instead of a fetus which has no life without the womb. It is an extension of the woman, not the other way around. We are not your breeding sacs. We deserve to exercise our bodily autonomy. If you don’t agree, you should evaluate why you believe that women are less important than the fetuses which would not survive outside the womb.

Guess what? God didn’t put you on this earth. Your mother did. Your divine creator is real, she is here, and you would sweep her right to choose when she creates under the rug in favor of your imaginary friend in the sky.

We did not come from your rib. You came from us. We deserve to choose when or if we ever create this life. I’m done.
