'Why does #ICEWAX "grease?"' is a question that comes up often. You can encourage your hash to grease by heating it or by not properly curing it, but both of those methods degrade the hash. Proper grease happens when the starting material is rich with terpenes. Specifically the heavier, denser terpenes that strains like Chems and OGs tend to produce. It also happens when the hash is clean. Terpenes can act as solvents against the glandular material, breaking it down to an oily state. But this can only happen if there isn't a high presence of plant matter for the terpenes to act on instead.
