Alien: You’re telling me that in times of great distress humans have been known to suddenly gain the strength necessary to lift objects more than a dozen times their own weight?!
Human: Yeah, it’s called “hysterical strength” and it usually happens in life-or-death situations, like when someone gets stuck under a car or something and someone lifts the car to get them out. We can’t really test it though, ‘cause it only happens spontaneously.
Alien: Humans have the ability to tap into untold strength and power and you don’t even know how you do it?
Human: Pretty much, yeah. We think it has something to do with temporary analgesia, so we just don’t feel the pain we should when we pick up a 3000-pound car.
Alien: YOUR PAIN RESPONSE JUST SHUTS OFF?
Human: Yeah, it’s like an adrenaline thing? Do you not have that?
Alien: Fuck you and your entire species of tiny juggernauts.
Just so you guys know. Hysterical strength is basically your body not holding back and going %100 though there is a great danger of you hurting yourself or breaking something since your ignoring pain and going %100. There was a case where a kid deadlifted a car to save a sibling but, cracked 8 of his teeth during it because he was clenching his jaw so hard. So whilst you can lift a car or fight off polar bears. Your probably going to break something. Because most of the time when we are “giving our all” we are only giving a fraction of what we could give and this is because if we truly give our all we can seriously injure ourselves.
Also: when you are sufficiently electrocuted and “thrown back” what is actually happening is your muscles contracting so hard and fast you essentially fling yourself away from the dangerous thing.
This is the same stuff that stops you from biting off your own fingers and whatnot. Our brains just say ‘no, don’t,’ whenever we try to do some dumbass shit, until we reach the point where it’s either do the dumbass shit or die/watch someone else die. I think it’s really cool though that we can shut off this function for others than ourselves. It shows a lot how we truly are social creatures at our core, that we don’t just do this when it’s our own body that might die, but for others in our community as well.
This is why a zombie would be extremely terrifying for a short period, and then neutralize itself. No fear and no pain means it could rip apart the gates to your fortress with its bare hands, but it would tear its arms or break its back in the process and never do anything very dangerous again.
This also means that anybody with a magical super-healing power would essentially get super strength out of the mix for free if they could get past the psychological limitations. That’s probably what makes vampires so strong; they don’t actually put out any more force than a normal human but they repair any damage they take in the process almost instantly.
Spell jars one of my favourite forms of witchcraft, they can be small all and portable or large and powerful. This spell jar is for studying and exams for my fellow college witches.
💕 Ingredients 💕
Rosemary ~ for stress relief, mental clarity and improved memory. Can be used fresh, dried or essential oil
Lapis lazuli ~ allows self expression and clarity, critical thinking and generating new ideas. Lapis with flecks of gold will also attract luck, to increase luck you can always add rose (petals, oil or water)
Symbol of Jupiter ~ drawn on a piece of paper, carved into a piece of wood or painted on a stone are some ways of incorporating Jupiter. The symbol will represent education, knowledge. If you study a more artistic subject you could consider using the symbol of Mercury who represents more creativity, writing and mental perception
Citrine ~ to represent the colour yellow, also good for centering and attracts abundance to get all those marks in the exam, other yellow crystals could be added such as yellow diamond, yellow topaz, cats eye, lemon quartz or honey calcite
Yellow candle ~ yellow represents the mind, learning and intelligence
Performing the spell 🏺🌙
First I like to cleanse everything I'm using especially if I'm re-using the jar. My favourite jars to use are old jam jars - normals one for big spell jar and those little tasting jam jars for little ones.
Add all the ingredients to a jar, you can make it look pretty with layers of shove it all in there, while adding your intention for manifestation: I will do well in exams, I will be focused while studying, I will not get distracted or procrastinate.
Drip yellow wax around the rim of the jar to seal or light a candle on top and let the wax drip down
Carve the symbol of Jupiter in the wax on top or in the candle if you've left it on top (carve the symbol of Mercury if that's what you've chosen to use)
Carry the jar around with you at college or if you've made a big jar place it on your desk or study area 🌙
Actually pretty easy. Trees don’t reject tissue from other trees in the same family. You bend the tree to another tree when it is a sapling, scrape off the bark on both trees where they touch, add some damp sphagnum moss around them to keep everything slightly moist and bind them together.
Then wait a few years- The trees will have grown together.
You can use a similar technique to graft a lemon branch or a lime branch or even both- onto an orange tree and have one tree that has all three fruits.
Frankentrees.
As a biologist I can clearly state that plants are fucking weird and you should probably be slightly afraid of them.
On that note! At the university (UBC) located in town, the Agriculture students were told by their teacher that a tree flipped upside down would die. So they took an excavator and flipped the tree upside down. And it’s still growing. But the branches are now the roots, and the roots are now these super gnarly looking branches. Be afraid.
I love how trees are like “fuck it, I’ll deal” at literally everything. Forest fire? Cool, my seeds’ll finally grow. Upside down? Branches, suck, roots, leave. What’s this new branch? Eh, welcome to the tree buddy.
what kind of professor did these students have that they needed to prove him wrong so badly that they literally dug up a tree, flipped it and put it back in the ground?
Sounds like y’all’ve never heard about the Tree of 40 Fruits. Well, it’s exactly as it sounds. Sam Van Aken, an artist based in New York, decided to try his hand at grafting (e.g. the process by which you attach the branches of a different tree to a host tree).
As artists are inclined to do he decided to push some limits and over the course of a few years he grafted over 40 different fruit onto the host “ including almond, apricot, cherry, nectarine, peach and plum varieties.”
It has a fruiting period lasting from July to October and this is what it looks like when blossoming.
Shit’s tight yo.
Also we have a group called the Guerrilla Grafters. A group who started in San Fransisco with the goal of grafting fruiting branches onto non-fruiting trees of the same type.
Most cities have fruit trees that simply don’t produce fruit because having all these would be a mess and inadvertently providing unregulated food to people comes with a lot of legal risks I suppose. These grafters seem to think otherwise and have taken it upon themselves to try and bring fruit trees back to urban areas.
This is a spell I created for those who wake up early in the morning and want to cast a positive energy over their day! I work in the morning and always light a candle when I do so, so I started saying this spell and it really improved my morning hours. I hope this can be helpful to you!
You will need:
A candle of your choice
Matches
Good intentions!
Steps:
Charge the candle by holding it into your hands and focusing your positive intentions for the day. You can imagine success during the day, a feeling of peace or comfort, etc. When you feel you’ve thought of all you could, get your match.
You can use your match as a ‘petition paper’ substitute for those who do not want to burn paper or for people who live in a dorm room (like me!). Using a pen or marker to write a word on a match that summarizes the energy you want to bring into your day today. I usually write ‘happiness’ or ‘love’.
Strike your match and light your candle, visualizing your intent. Say the following spell aloud as you light the candle:
I bless this day ahead
With this fiery candlelight
With this flame, my intentions living
With this match, they ignite
From the moment I wake
To the second I sleep
May happiness be mine to keep
Burn the candle as you normally would and enjoy your day!
Moon water – water that has been charged by the moon – has several uses in Witchcraft and magick. Many people charge their moon water in the light of the full moon, but it can be created during other moon phases as well. Like with spellcasting and rituals, the full moon is often seen as the most powerful time to charge your moon water. However, you might also charge your water to fit correspondences of other moon phases, too! And of course, you might also try to time charging your moon water based on the time of year.
Below are some general ideas about how you might decide to use your moon water.
Uses of Moon Water:
Energising, cleansing, and charging crystals – moon water is great for cleansing and empowering crystals! You can place your crystals in a jar with some moon water, to help amplify their energy. Make sure to check your crystals can be placed in water, though! Some crystals aren’t safe in water.
Bathing and cleaning yourself – you can add some moon water to your bath, or use some moon water to wash your hands or face as a cleansing ritual, blessing, or bath magick.
Drinking moon water – take a couple of sips of moon water each day to empower yourself with the moon’s energy. If you choose to drink your moon water, make sure you use spring or distilled water when making your moon water and keep it in the fridge. You could even use some moon water in your coffee or tea!
Making potions, cleansing sprays etc. – utilise the power of the moon and its correspondences to enhance your potions, or use moon water to make a little cleansing spray to use in your room or home.
Watering your plants or adding some moon water to flower vases – you might decide to water your plants with moon water, as a way to enhance your connection with them. You could also add some moon water to your vase of flowers.
Making fragrances or perfumes – you could also use your moon water to make perfumes or fragrances, to amplify your intentions or as part of a glamour spell!
Representing the Goddess and/or your intentions and goals on your altar – you could place some moon water in a container and put this on your altar, as representation of the Goddess and/or your intentions and goals.
Diffusing moon water in your home – you could place some moon water in an aromatherapy diffuser with your choice of essential oils, to help clear the air and enhance the effects of the oils you use.
Thinking about moon phases and correspondences:
As I mentioned before, you might want to think about your intentions and timings of when you charged your moon water. For example, May’s Full Flower Moon is often associated with love, health, and romance. So, water charged under May’s full moon might be useful in empowering crystals associated with love or the heart chakra, or enhancing spells related to compassion, love, romance, healing, and self-acceptance. Similarly, you might think about the season you charged your moon water, and what kinds of associations this season has for you.
Remember – the important part of any ritual, spellwork, or magick is your intentions, and what this means for YOU. My list is non-exhaustive – there are so many possibilities of what you can do! The important thing is to do what feels right for you personally.
All the main holidays for ya witchy soul~ each have different goals and activities. Celebrating these holidays can give you an extra kick in all sorts of different spellwork ✨ which is your favorite? (Mines Samhain cause it’s the one holiday where I feel most comfortable being myself)
is it possible to put good energy into a necklace? i want to buy my friend a necklace, im new to all this, im wondering how can i put good energies into it? im not sure what its called either hh
Yes this is absolutely possible. I do it all the time. Magic users generally call this enchanting.
I have a formula for enchanting a piece of jewelry that can be used for almost any intent. (I know it seems like a lot to do, but it really isn’t that complicated or hard to perform; I’m just really thorough and focus on details, and most of this is just prep.)
Jewelry Enchantment Spell
Preparation / Set-Up
Think about the kinds of energies or properties you want to enchant the jewelry with (happiness, peace, positivity, calming, etc.).
Create a sigil that matches your intent; an example would be “this [jewelry] is charged with the potent energies of [intent],” but feel free to come up with something that suits you better. (For extra energy, draw the sigil in a color that matches your intent; “default” is black.)

Gather up four candles for the spell. Tealights work perfectly. (For extra energy, choose candles in a color that match your intent; “default” is white.)

Determine what crystals match your intent. Pick four of one crystal, or two of two different kinds of crystals. Personal correspondences are also important. If you do not have crystals, or do not wish to use them, feel free to leave them out.

Pick at least three herbs that correlate to your intent, though you may use more if you wish; you will also need sea salt. Dried would be optimal, as you will be burying the piece of jewelry in them. Personal correspondences are also important.

If you feel it is necessary, cleanse your piece of jewelry (or yourself) before you begin.
Performing the Spell
Prep for spellwork in the way you normally do (meditate, cleanse your space, cast a circle, set up your altar / workspace, invoke any deities / spirits, light candles or incense, play mood-setting music, etc.).
Draw a circle on a piece of paper, large enough to fit a medium size bowl (a cereal bowl works fine). In the center of the drawn circle, draw your sigil. Place your bowl over the sigil. Place your candles at the top, bottom, left and right of the circle. If you wanted to use crystals, put one between each of the candles; if you used two different types of crystals, place the matching ones across from each other diagonally. Your set up should look something like this:
If you wish to, draw the squares connecting the candles to each other, and the crystals if you used them, though it isn’t necessary.
Light your candles. If you used crystals, pick them up (individually or as a group), and charge them with your intent. Take as long as you feel is necessary.
Set the piece of jewelry in the bowl. Prepare your herbs to be added - you will want equal parts of each herb and the sea salt, enough to cover the jewelry completely when it’s in the bowl. As you hold each herb in your hand, before adding it to the bowl, state its purpose, and fill it with your intent.
Once all the herbs are in the bowl, use your dominant hand to stir the ingredients clockwise. Channel your energy and intent towards your desire into the herbs and the jewelry itself. Visualize what things might be like with more of that attribute present in your life.
Continue this for as long as you think is necessary, however long until you feel the jewelry is adequately charged. Remove the jewelry, and wipe any herbs or powder from it with a dry cloth. Blow out the candles, then dispose of the rest of the herbs. (You can also keep them for use in other spells relating to your intent.)
Recharge the jewelry once a month, either with the same method, or purely with your own energy.
