She was his everything, she was the only one left to him, she was the only one who stayed for him, but never did he think that one day he would lose her too.
He pushes her hair behind her ear and in a gentle but possessive voice he says.
”You won’t leave me right?” He pleaded.
Now it’s been a year, he failed to become a God, he lost his Gnosis and his title as a harbinger, he lost everything, but at least he had her, but fate also didn’t allow that to last long.
He says the same line again, hiding his face, his tight embrace on her, and crying on her shoulder.
“You won’t leave me, right? I... I don’t have anything else except for you now..” He pleads, as he trembles and cries silently.
"Please don't leave me too." He mumbled.
"I'm sorry..." She muttered as she reached out her arms to wrap him in her warm embrace.
He starts sobbing louder as he imagines a life without her... no, he couldn’t even imagine it… It was too painful to imagine.
Please...Please tell me you'll stay with me forever... I'm begging you Rei...” His voice cracks as tears stream down his face.
"Please don't cry... You're making me sadder." She gives him a melancholic smile as she feels herself tearing up too.
“But why? Why can’t you stay with me? You promised you'd stay with me forever..” His eyes water even more.
“Why do you have to abandon me... Why do you have to leave me just like them...”
"I'm so sorry... I love you so much... I love you more than anyone else in the world... You are my everything..." She wraps her arms around him as she gently tightens her embrace.
"So please... Promise me... Promise me that you'll live in my stead..." She whispered as her lips curved to a mournful smile as tears started to streamed down her eyes.
"No... I can't do that... I don't know what to do without you... I can't live without you... Please don't say that... Please don't leave me too..." He pleaded as he felt his heart shatter to a million pieces.
"I can promise you I'll love you for eternity but... I can't promise that I can be with you forever... I'm sorry... but please always remember my love for you will always continue for eternity, even in the afterlife..." She smiled as she mumbled one last time as she felt her consciousness slip away.
Her smile… oh her smile… a smile that could lit up the whole world, her smile was still beautiful even in her last moments.
Then her arms, lifelessly slid down... As she passed on.
He lays there weeping, as the stars shone brightly on the tranquil night.
How cruel… It was like the heavens were mocking him. The stars shone brightly on the sky as he held the lifeless body of his lover.
“No! No!! NO!!! PLEASE DON’T LEAVE ME!!!! YOU CAN'T JUST GIVE UP ON ME LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He cried out in anguish.
“PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!! PLEASE MAKE MY LIFE NOT BE SO HORRIBLE!!!! PLEASE!!!” He cries in agony as the silent night’s peace was disturbed in the cries and screams of pure heartbreak and sadness.
He attempts to wake her… he was trying to hold on to a grain of hope, but unfortunately... she had already breathed her last.
He stares at the lifeless body of his beloved before slowly falling into despair himself.
*10 years later*
It was a cloudy day as he sat alone on top of the hill looking at her grave. He still remembers the day where she left him… it was so vivid as if it happened yesterday. The pain, the grief and her smile that was still beautiful even in her last moments.
But he still tried to forget… he tried to forget her warmth, her tender smile, her serene voice, and the memories they made together. But like a heavy anchor, it all tied him down and dragged him down to the bottomless sea of agony and grief.
His eyes are filled with tears and sadness as he whispers.
"I miss you so much..." He mumbled.
The sky turned dim as he, yet again recalled the past memories, then suddenly a strong gust of wind blew, and made his hat fly away, he looked at the direction where the hat was heading as he bit his lower lip and muttered.
“Tsk, don’t tell me you're gonna leave me too.”
He tried to chase it, but for some reason, it felt like an endless chase no matter how much he tried, the hat just managed to slip away from his grasp like how he couldn’t save anything precious to him.
And after what seemed like an eternity, his hat finally stopped and landed near a tree.
He came to get it as he picked it up from the ground, but as he looked back up, the sight he saw stunned him.
There was a woman standing below the shade as the clouds on the sky suddenly disappeared as if the heavens bestowed upon a blessing to the world.
The woman had pale skin, beautiful heliotrope and aquamarine gradient eyes that glimmered as the light shone, and beautiful silky long platinum blonde hair that danced as the wind blew and the sunlight illuminated her features.
He didn’t know her, he had never seen her once in all of his life, but for some reason, he felt a strong familiarity towards her… it was as if he had known her for a long time.
Out of reflex, he walked towards the woman as she looked at him.
She had also felt a sense of familiarity towards him as she dazed..
Silence filled the air as she finally speaked up.
“Excuse me but, have we met before?” She asked as she looked at him before she added.
“My name is Y/N by the way, and for some reason, I feel like I have known you for a very long time.”
“I don’t know, but I feel like I have known you for a long time too.” He replied as he stared at her.
Ever since Rei's death, he had always felt like falling apart, but when he saw Y/N, a part of him felt alive again… a part of him felt complete again.
