I’ve heard they actually had to rewrite a lot of her dialogue for the early part of Portal 2 to be more ridiculous and petty, as it was actually so on-point and vicious it was making playtesters not want to play the game.

Yes, GlaDOS’ lines are iconic, but it’s a simple matter as to why “The cake is a lie” became the catchphrase: it’s short.  I mean come on, this is basic psychology.  We’re more likely to remember short, catchy phrases than entire lines of dialogue, some of which make less sense when not in context.

That said, GlaDOS is an iconic villain with absolutely perfect writing behind her character, personality, & subsequent cutting remarks.

This is my personal farewell to a game series that has managed to captivate and move me like no other. Perhaps you will find a few of your own experiences reflected within it, too. If you’ve found this comic, I’m glad we could undertake a small part of this journey together. Enjoy!
