“my honest opinion?” she repeated as she rested the vinyl she held down onto the counter before scrunching her nose up slightly in thought as she tried to grasp at the right words to use to describe the band. she wanted to sell the band but at the same time, being honesty wouldn’t exactly do that. “well, they’re not my favourite band in the world, sometimes i think their songs could put me to sleep but in—a good way? all they’re songs just seem to be really chilled and i guess you could say they’re inspired by 80′s/90′s music.”
“hm,” frida pondered for a moment, drumming her fingers against her chin. finally, she broke into a smile. it’s doesn’t really sound like something she’d vibe to but she has a feeling she knows someone that would. “i’ll take it,” she said, setting her other two records on the counter between them. mazzy star for her, and glenn miller for her mother. “not for me, but for a friend. i think she’d like it,” she elaborated, pulling out her wallet, “how much for all three?”
miraj snorted, laughing hard. “ you’ve too much confidence in me, frida dear, ” he remarked amusedly, grinning over at her as he nursed his fag as they made their way down the wide streets of manchester. “ my day’s been alright; not much can be said other than i enjoyed a morning consisting of sleeping in, ” he admitted, not looking very sheepish over the fact that he’d managed to sleep in until about one in the afternoon. “ how about yourself? ”
“man, you don’t know how much i wish i could sleep in,” frida sighed heavily, “my day has been good, i had to wake up at five for my six a.m shift at home sweet home, i barely got off just now from my eight hour shift. i’m ready for me time, you know?” she looked both ways before crossing the street, spotting her destination. “i have homework too but it’s easy, so i’ll just do it tomorrow. oh, hey, what do you like on your pizza? it’s on me today.”
frida is a coffee drinker, she’s a big fan of caramel cappuccinos. and just coffee in general, but sweet coffee + she works at a coffee shop, it’d be super ironic if she hated coffee. tea, however, she likes only sometimes, she has to be in the right mood, or she only drinks it when she gets sick.
did they have a pet growing up?
she currently does! she owns a pitbull named bowie and he’s the cutest thing. he loves to snuggle and play outside, and sleeps on frida’s bed because that’s his place. he’s currently three years old, she got him as a pup for her fifteenth birthday, a gift from her dad.
who’s opinion do they care about most?
her parents. they’re divorced but they all get along and her parents will always be her best friends. they support her and care for her, and frankly she would be lost without them. the second one would be her best friend (ahem, a current wanted connection) who currently lives with her and her mother. she’s new to manchester so there’s potential for her to grow and connect and care for more people.
what do they watch when they can’t sleep?
frida puts on a movie, usually pride and prejudice or sometimes she’ll replay some of her favorite x-files episodes. if she’s feeling really antsy and can’t sleep, then she’ll put on a documentary and learn something since she can’t fall asleep, so far she’s seen a majority of docs on netflix.
3. what’s your muses number one regret?
frida currently has no regrets. maybe not telling the girl she had a crush on that one time during secondary school but she knew it would’ve been a lost cause. rule number one: never fall for a straight girl. it’s just heartbreak, and she one-hundred percent wants to avoid that. but anyways, nothing major.
4. who was their first kiss?
frida had her first kiss when she was fourteen. it had been a boy, his name was vincent and it was a nice kiss, it wasn’t the best and it certainly didn’t make her feel anything, it wasn’t for her. but it was nice. it did help her realize that she wasn’t bi at all, but instead a lesbian.
5. what’s on their playlist right now?
she has far too many playlists on her spotify. she has a playlist for everything, it’s difficult for her to stick to one playlist or mesh songs that don’t belong to one genre or aren’t similar at least. currently she’s diving into those soft songs/soft rock for the fall season while she builds her own spooky playlist that she can jam to.
“ okay, before you pass judgment, i’m asking for a friend - “ he pauses, legs jittering nervously as something between a smirk and worry sits on his face. “hypothetically, if you drunk-texted your old uni professor and told her she was a fox, what would you do? “ he stays still, but only for a moment before he shifts positions again, eyes narrowing. “ okay and let’s also pretend that she responded with some interest, and you did the ultimate douchiest thing possible and sent an unsolicited dick pic. to your uni professor.. “ his voice trails off. “ okay, solutions: go. “
frida just stared at him, eyes wide with her lips parting around the straw of her soft drink. and then, after what felt like an eternity she started laughing. she was laughing so hard that her sides began to ache, and she couldn’t breathe. just as she could feel herself begin to calm down, she started losing her shit all over again. “ohmygod--” she wheezed, trying to calm down but small bursts of giggles still fell past her lips, “what the fuck-- i mean, jesus. having straight friends is a blast, honestly, wow.” she took deep breaths, taking a long drink. “okay, wow, wow. uh, well i mean -- god, what do you even want me say? if you want to fuck her then do it, mate.”
Leaving the midday movie of the day, something in Russian with subtitles in yellow, Jo Hanna walked down the street back towards her apartment. It only took a moment, but Jo found herself about two blocks in the wrong direction, standing outside a cafe. Walking inside, she quickly ordered her usual before heading over to a table- do I get a halloween loot box or a winter loot box, but then it might not be for D.Va so maybe not– “Jesus! I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention..” She trailed off, looking up at the figure she had just walked straight into as a blush spread over her cheeks.
“Woah, woah, it’s okay,” Frida quickly rushed out, holding the empty mugs near her so they wouldn’t fall over. Her shift was almost over, and the last she wanted was to pick up broken shards during the last fifteen minutes. “My fault completely, I should’ve said something or moved out of the way,” she grinned, glad she wasn’t the only one looking red in the face. “It happens all the time to be honest, so don’t worry about it.”
bailey took in the sight of the book being held up before her, a laugh slipping past her lips before she could hold it back. “okay but it’s life changing, i promise. you’ve seen the original film, right? tell me you’ve seen the film.”
she paused, pulling her lips back into a smile before sheepishly shaking her head. “no,” she began, chuckling softly, “i heard the original was crap so i’m not really going to bother. and the new cast has me hooked, nothing can compare to finn wolfhard’s richie.”
reading. it had never been ash’s strong suit. he struggled with written word, though he was attempting to make a career out of spoken. “ if it’s so big and monstrous, why’d you buy it? isn’t there a movie or some shit now? “
“well, duh, that’s exactly why i bought it,” she snorted, holding the book to her chest. “i can’t wait a whole year or two for part two of the new movie, and the mini series is shit, from what i’ve heard anyway. i like reading anyway, so it’s not a burden to carry.”
miraj laughed, head shaking. “ i mean, i’d never say no to pizza. or video games, for that matter ” he admitted, biting down on his lip before shaking his head once more. “ though, if we’re being honest, you’ll probably end up kicking my ass on the video game part. i’m definitely better at music than i am gaming. ”
“we’ll see about that, mister musician,” frida laughed, adjusting her small backpack on her shoulders. “my motto is to never underestimate anyone. so who knows? maybe you’ll kick my ass in dark souls, it already kicks my ass when i play alone, so.” she turned around, leading them in direction towards her favorite pizza parlor in manchester -- the only one she’s been to anyway. “how’s your day been?”
allowing her forehead to fall gently against the vinyl, zoé let out a low, quiet grumble as her previous customer exited the store, “you’ve got to be kidding me.” why they couldn’t have rung to say they were no longer in need of it was beyond her, she was more than confident it would have been far easier than coming in and telling her they’d already bought it somewhere else, after she’d called them to pick it up. finally after a moment, she turned around and allowed her hands to fall in front of her still holding onto the abandoned record. “you don’t happen to be in the search for a LANY vinyl would you?” she offered to the nearest person, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips as she held up the vinyl once more and waved her hand in front, trying to showcase the cover. “got it in specially!”
“i’ve never listened to LANY,” frida said, approaching the counter nonetheless. she had two records tucked under her arm, one for her and another for her mom. it wasn’t her birthday or anything, but she spotted one of her mom’s favorite artists and figured she deserves it. “are they any good? if you give me your honest opinion, i’ll consider it.”
he sat off to the side, hidden in the shadows away from the neon lights that seemed to engulf the rest of the club. his tequila on the rocks was in one hand and his cellphone was in the other. he was expecting someone– a client, someone who needed a pick me up. they had given him a time and as it stood, they were over ten minutes late. “for fucks sake,” he murmured to himself as he glanced down at the glowing clock on his phone screen.
“hi,” frida said, sliding into the empty seat across a stranger. she’s out of breath, looking over her shoulder quickly to spot the guy who would not leave her alone. they made eye contact and frida quickly turned around, sliding down her seat. “sorry for barging into you, you don’t even know me but some perv won’t leave me alone, and i can’t find my friend and he keeps trying to hit on me even though i told him i’m gay, and i am but he’s being weird and i’m sort of scared,” she rambled, laughing nervously and she ran her hands through her hair. “can you just -- i’m sorry for asking this of you, can you pretend to like, i don’t know, can you please keep me company?”
if there had ever been a hell week for camden, this was it. anything that could possibly go wrong at work at went wrong. patients are far more asshole-ish than normal and he’d been scheduled for two extra shifts at the end of the week. on top of all that, the person in front of him seemed the be frozen on the spot. “excuse me?” camden cleared his throat, “have you never used to the fuckin’ tube before?”
frida jumped, her anxiety deepening like the flush across her cheeks. “no,” she squeaked, mentally scolding herself for sounding scared of some stranger asking her a question. in her defense, he sounded agitated, making her feel bad for being clueless. “i mean yes, but i’m new here and i think i’m lost,” she said, elaborating. “i’m sorry, let me just--” she tried shuffling around to move out of his way, only to clumsily bump into someone else. “shit, sorry -- sorry, you can go.”
“the movie was pretty good but i’ve heard the book is a million times better and far more scary.” he hadn’t had much time to read but he was sure that it might find his list one day. “no, i haven’t. i’ve just read reviews and found that it’s pretty spectacular. if you’ve seen the new movie, you’re spoiled a bit.”
“well, yeah,” she laughed, “i know that. i know some of what happens in the first part of the book, but there’s always more that doesn’t make it on screen. and i’m really excited to see get to the part where they’re all adults. i could always watch the miniseries but, nah.” rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet, she said, “anyways, that’s the fun thing i did today. what are you up to?”
“ there’s absolutely NO way i’m wearing the same dress tonight. you have to help me sort through the new ellie saab collection catalog or else i’ll selfie bomb you every five minutes, deal ? ” she spoke to the other as if they were best friends. “ pretty please ? ” she battled her long eyelashes.
“uhhhhh,” frida didn’t know this girl, and being bombarded with this very peculiar request was enough to make her take a step back, weary. “man, i don’t know you,” she laughed, nervously. “that’s a little bit weird to ask to a total stranger right? i mean, is that how you make friends?”
