Wolf House
Last month my mate and I purchased our first home. Itâs in a nice neighbourhood by a lake, recreation trails, and woods. Itâs quiet and peaceful. However, the house is older and needs some updates. Renovations are planned for the bathrooms and new flooring throughout. With that said, I have little time to be active in the online Therian community. Despite all of the Therianthropy related topics Iâd like to discuss, my focus needs to switch to offline responsibilities and goals. Other facets of my life just need more attention right now.
The activity here on Tumblr seems to be slow after the policy changes. I donât know if my time here would be well-spent or not. A few other Therians that I followed have left anyway. A break from social media will probably do me good. If or when I have time for online Therian stuff again in the future, maybe I can be more creative with my youtube videos. Or maybe I can find a better way to share information and be part of the online community.
Thanks for reading. I wish you all the best.

Your presence will be missed, but real life comes first! It looks like you picked a great place!
Recipes for a feral cat who lived in a city with a nice beach and boardwalk? I don't have any allergies, but I'm a pescetarian (I still eat eggs and dairy tho.) Other than land meat, I'll eat just about anything! I love veggies, especially brussel sprouts, asparagus, bell peppers, and potatoes. If it's possible, could you also include some sweet snacky stuff? Nothing overly sweet tho! Difficulty doesn't matter but I don't have a working food processor lol. Much love from my bed! đ±â€
Iâll do the best I can, but I apologize in advance if Iâm wrong

I. Feel. This.
By The Growlery
Needed this today....
DO. NOT. DO. THIS.
Tarot isnât going to tell you jack shit about who you are, that is something you can leave only upon yourself. No other person can tell you what you are, period. If you think you might identify as something, get introspective. Look inside yourself. Do research! Sure itâs not as easy, but itâs accurate. Be thorough, and question yourself often.
Asking someone for a tarot answer is just⊠Looking for outside confirmation. Only you can discover you.
same goes for online personality tests and âspirit animalâ tests. they are not going to give you the truth about your identity.
you have to PUT IN THE WORK to know what you want to know, not just get some cop-out answer to âconfirmâ what you WANT to be true that probably isnât true at all.
This.
Damn, this is getting really popular
It is something I talk about often, and you stated it well.
Signal boost, spread the word! Especially if you're getting someone online to do it for you, and especially for compensation on your part, they'll just tell you what they think you wanna hear.
This is both amazing and profoundly irritating - the exact writing equivalent of that thing artists do - you know, how theyâll mess up anything thatâs on expensive paper and planned in every single detail but get them doodling during a boring lesson and suddenly theyâre Michel-bloody-angelo.
This is positively beautiful...
Back on AHWW, was there much talk about species dypshoria (or the common term for it then), or any similar experiences that therians had? How was it viewed in the community as opposed to today?
The term âspecies dysphoriaâ didnât show up on AHWW until the early 2000s, long after most of the original folks had moved on to offline life or web forums. However, the general experience of it was well established and it was usually called âhomesicknessâ. A longing to be what you were inside, a longing to be one of or with your phenotype (the common term for theriotype then).
Poking around the google groups AHWW archive, there are occasional examples. Itâs a shame how incomplete those archives are â disk was too expensive and Usenet was viewed as ephemeral.  There are so many posts I remember which are just⊠missing. In any case, hereâs a random sample talking about longing and homesickness from there: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/alt.horror.werewolves/Pkj6IkdsAwU/cUv_kq4CPwUJ
I would call those feelings âspecies dysphoriaâ today, but back then there werenât enough of us who were familiar with the terminology of psychology. Those of us who discussed it with a therapist would usually find those same therapists reaching for an term like âtransspeciesâ because the closest analogue most psychiatric professionals had at hand was being transgender â there just wasnât anything else in the literature for them to reference dealing with it.
The notion of physical shifting wasnât taboo in the community then, even though it was known to be impossible, it would still be talked quite often, tied into the idea of homesickness, because that desire to fix the disconnect between our actual physical shape and our desired physical shape was there and strong â just like today. The taboo didnât start until a few folks tried to claim having the secret to physical shifting and using it for leverage. Calling it âspecies dysphoriaâ is more accurate, really, and splits it out from being mingled with the idea of physical shifting.
Ultimately, even those who didnât experience any kind of real depression or negative emotions associated with their therianthropy would still have loved to have been able to change shape. I suppose that made it different than dysphoria, in that it was more universal, a kind of âspecies euphoriaâ really, where having an ability like that would be enjoyed even without it being a cure for that sense of homesickness.
The community at the time viewed it as an expected part of the âwereâ experience, much as they did shifts. It wouldnât be until controversial subjects like contherianthropy began to be discussed that the view of those things as necessary and expected began to change.
I hope that answers your question, @fedora-dragon. Iâm happy to fill in the blanks or provide more detail if youâd like.Â
One more tidbit, the word therianthropy would not become the preferred term until much later on the forums, and youâll find many of us older folks will still slip up and refer to ourselves as âweresâ â even today âwerehouseâ is the preferred term for a group of therian roommates as a play on the word âwarehouseâ. Therian Roomies just isnât as punny. Â

I... already see myself as a cat? Well, sometimes. :3
Vote Now! [No, I would not, and I have no desire to do so.] [No, I would not, but I have a desire to do so.]
A short poll for non-human otherkin and therians (including non-human fictionkin), asking if youâd become your kintype/theriotype physically if given the point. Iâve added a few different options, since I felt like a yes or no answer didnât provide enough detail.
My answer was dependent upon my current relationships. I would never abandon my mate and family, so I would want to return to them, but if I didn't have them, or if I suddenly lost them, I would have no problem turning into my Theriotype and staying in the wild the rest of my life.

What is a kinshift?
Itâs when you feel more like your kin. There are two types of shifts:
- Mental, which is where you mentally act more like your kin, and feel more like your kin. You identify with your kintype strong.
- Astral/phantom, which is where you become your kintype astrally or in soul, and you have astral or phantom limbs.
â Mod Ginko
There are a more types of shifts than just these.
If there is please explain. Iâm not trying to be mean or rude I just wanna know ^-^
Here are the types of shifts Iâve heard about (there may be more):
Astral Shift: Mentioned above, an astral shift is more specifically a shift experienced on the astral plane.
Aura Shift: When the shifterâs aura takes the shape of their kintype.
Berserker Shift: When the shifter loses control and begins to act more like their kintype than human (generally viewed as unhealthy by the community).
Bilocation Shift: When the shifterâs kintype leaves their âhumanâ body and materializes elsewhere.
Cameo Shift: A shift into an animal/being that is not someoneâs kintype.
Dream Shift: In which the shifter is their kintype in a dream.Â
Mental Shift: Mentioned above, but more accurately, itâs when the shifter takes on the mentality of their kintype. Doesnât have to do with identifying with your kintype necessarily.
Phantom Shift: Mentioned above, but specifically refers to the shifter experiencing phantom limbs.
Physical Shift: The shifter physically changes in some way to be their kintype (this is impossible and heavily frowned upon by the community to claim).
Perception/Sensory Shift: A shift where the shifterâs senses are perceived to become more like their kintypeâs.
Shadow Shift: A shift where the shifter does not change physically, but in which witnesses see their appearance change to resemble their kintype (generally not viewed as entirely legitimate).
Spiritual Shift: Any sort of shift with a spiritual undertone, generally a pretty vague term
I just thought of writing fae courts in an old west setting and iâm honestly AmazedâąÂ that i have never written Nor read anything like that before
In most towns out west, theyâre just stories. Devils and ghosts and other such spirits are talked âbout âround campfires or over drinks, tall tales to spook those who donât know better than to believe them. In most towns, a dead animal or a missinâ child is generally the work of coyotes. In most towns, rules can be broken, laws can be ignored, if youâve got brains enough or bullets enough to keep from gettinâ strung up or shot down.
Lily Lake ainât one of those towns.
:::::
âDonât you go angerinâ the Gentry, boy,â a mother cuffs her son upside the head, pulling him by the arm away from the three well-dressed men heâd been about to slingshot a pebble at. One of the men turns to watch them leave, his eyes solid blue all they way through where the whites should be, blue as a clear summer sky over the desert. He smiles with too many teeth, and the boy turns hurriedly away.
:::::
âAre you tryinâ to cheat me?â A loud hiss, and the saloon goes silent, all eyes finding the table where one of the Good People is staring down an out-of-towner. The fool has one hand on his gun and the other in his pocket, where heâs no doubt been slippinâ cards.
âWhatâd you do about it if I was?â He asks, to the winces of the townsfolk.
âIf you arenât playinâ by the rules we agreed on, there will be consequences,â the faery says, long nails on long fingers tapping an impatient rhythm against the tabletop. The man moves to take his hand from his pocket, and the faery lunges quick as a rattler across the table, nabbing at whateverâs inside. The manâs eyes widen as the faery holds up the cards heâd been secreting away; he seems to finally realize he ainât dealinâ with somethinâ human.
âThe hellââ he draws his gun.
âNo!â At least three people yell, because who knows what affiliations this faery has, what kind of trouble could be brought down on the town of Lily Lake just by a gunshot.
âIs that a threat?â The faery asks, soundinâ almost delighted by the possibility.
âYouâre damn right itâs a threat,â says the outsider, poor fool. The gun is wrenched from his hands, hittinâ the ground with a small clatter.
âTake this outside,â orders the bartender, calm and steady, and the faery does, dragging the man by the front of his shirt. There is a sound that is not a gunshot, but is equally as final.
:::::
Lily Lake, everythingâs always fair. Certain laws arenât ever, ever broken. The town Sheriff doesnât have to do much. Gunslingers, outlaws, they pass through, time to time. Most make it out. Some donât.
:::::
âPeople say the west is nothing like back east, is that true?â A visitor asks, a young lady. The man sheâs talking to laughs.
âLily Lake ainât nothinâ like the rest of the west, either,â he replies.
(Turns out the girl is stayinâ, marrying some man in town no-oneâs heard of. âPoor girl,â some whisper, thinking of the family she must be leavinâ behind for her faery beau.)
:::::
In most towns out west, a raven is just a raven, a snake is just a snake. In most towns, a gunshot is the only really worrying sound to listen for. In most towns, people cheat at cards, and kids throw pebbles, and Sheriffs and their Deputies are in charge of keepinâ the peace.
Lily Lake ainât one of those towns.
