(in a less nerdy term, a critique on some discussion around Controversial Transfemmesâ˘. kinda painting a huge target on my back with this but it;s whateva It's tumblr bro. It's lit.) i've been asking a few of my friends recently about a really strange niche of people on the internet that i'm not a fan of. a kinda crass way to title them would be Bluesky's Pretentious Armchair Psychologists but i feel like that title itself is inadequate not just because of it being rude. it's a niche of people that crawled out of the woodwork which one of my friends notes as "[Accelerationists], but rather than pushing capitalism to its limits to broker in a preferred economic system, its pushing leftist and progressive ideals to its limits to usher in what I can Only call. Radical Queerness but Queer in the pejorative sense". TL:DR it's the rung of society that would benefit most from realising that the words they're saying wouldn't make sense to A Real Living Breathing Person That Goes Outside the main reason why i'm writing this is because due to one of these titular orbiters liking my agent 3 post, i'd like to note my distaste towards how they handle an issue that (to be a bit hypocritical) mainly resides within the internet, being how they handle the afformentioned Controversial Transfemmesâ˘. namely gooseworx but this also extends to patricia taxxon allow me to cite 2 main examples. shouldnt go without saying but please do not harass these people (if theres even people that'll be reading this)
it's a specific genre of post that's been written like a blanket statement, but fails when taken outside of the vacuum of a single tumblr post and applied to real world context. this kinda allows for uncharitable readings or personal biases to show really blatantly in the face of reasonable comments about someones behaviour.
do they face transphobia, especially due to them being controversial and being large figures on the internet? YES! i won't doubt that. but this simultaneous Magnification of their trans identity and Minimization of them down to just A Successful TGirl or a Transfem With A Chequered Past arguably does more harm than good. it stifles proper discussion and allows people to view any point made against these people in the most uncharitable manner under the guise of these critiques being veiled transmisogyny.
there's also this element of... i dont want to say tokenism? cause it ISN'T tokenism. but it's this specific focus on their trans identity being used as a focal point in this discussion which really rubs me the wrong way as a transfem myself. I know that I'm going to be . for lack of a better term inherently more privileged and able to survive in a rougher society since I'm more comfortable with expressing myself more masculinely. I don't feel like that fact though makes me void from noting that the way these people just wave around being Trans (specifically transfem) is Odd regardless. I feel like when you focus on the trans identity we kinda lose very important nuance. they're putting in more effort into being worried about the potential of these trans creatives experiencing prejudice than actually doing any critical thinking, is what i'm trying to say with this latter point. i really don't know how to round this off at all. in an ideal world i'd have a conclusion in mind but theres still a feeling in me that there's more to say. oh well, i do this shit for a hobby
Kinda sick and tired of people treating racism like itâs no big deal, and specifically especially sick and tired of people blindly crying âtransmisogynistic harassmentâ whenever someone criticizes their favorite white trans woman for her racism.
More people are talking about TADCâs leaks in sympathy for Gooseworx than they are about her being silent on how she participated in racist jokes other than implying it was not âgenuineâ racism. Nobody seems to bring up Patricia âI am also limited in my ability to racially oppress due to being trans and disabledâ Taxxonâs consistent racism, despite her becoming relevant again due to the latest incident with Hbomberguy. A lot of popular transfem bloggers on Tumblr have a history of racism too, but God forbid you bring it up.
I feel fucking crazy. What happened to âyou are white before you are anything elseâ? So many popular trans women on here are specifically white trans women who youâre not allowed to point out have said racist shit that they still stand by, or youâre the bad person. Youâre overreacting. Youâre harassing a poor innocent white woman over nothing that actually matters, and you need to touch grass and learn what a real problem is. These women are allowed to wield their white woman tears by crying about how oppressed they are and how hard their lives are and how everybody is out to get them when criticized for racism, and people just BUY IT?? Not just buy it, but ENFORCE IT, harass others who DONâT buy it, accuse the ones who donât buy it of, and I quote, LYNCHING her.
White trans women are not less likely to be racist than any other type of white person, but theyâre treated like they are, and the notion they could be racist is treated as inherently ridiculous, defamatory, and transmisogynistic.
I think that some people need to come to grips with the fact that some of these women are blatantly, openly racist, and hide behind their disabilities/mental illnesses and their transness. We cannot be positioning white trans women as an authority on all systems of oppression, because white trans women are not the modern martyr for the oppressed voice. Black trans women have felt everything they have, 100 times worse. White trans womenâs suffering is real, but suffering as a white woman is just so much different. And if we want the trans community to be safe for POC, we need to start actually calling racism from trans people out, instead of being the girl who cried transmisogynistic harassment campaign.
But this is the website that says a term coined by a Black trans woman to call out racism from white members of the transfem community is inherently transmisogynistic (even a transmisogynistic slur) and should never be used. So maybe Iâm just talking to a (very racist) brick wall here.

REALLY really love the HC that the Stargazing adventure was one of Ribbit's suggestions bc of how Jax reacts to it and i really have to agree. like he's never held back when he thinks adventures are dumb and boring and takes every opportunity to mock the person who suggested it. interesting then, that he doesn't insult Stargazing, and actually seems to become a bit reflective. he can't help but open up a little in that calm environment that's almost a memory.
EDIT: oh yeah more evidence, he tries to vote to skip any he dislikes. but even though he's "not a fan" of Stargazing because he prefers adventures with "more bite"... he's still participating...

call me crazy but i think there's an actual middle ground between "the episode shit and wank for a misogynistic abuser" and "if you didn't like it you have no media literacy"
so about the âisnât she lovelyâ sequence, if there wasnât such mistreatment of black characters and black fans, do you think it would still be appropriate for tadc to reinterpret the songâs meaning?

The concept of trying to reinterpret the song's meaning is exactly what I have an issue with.
"Isn't She Lovely" is a Black song, made by a Black man for his Black daughter. It is a song about Black joy, about Black fatherhood and beautiful Black baby girls. It is about Black people. It is for Black people.
Yet again, the issue is not with gender, but it is about race. To take that song out of its original context and rehash it into something whiter is what I take the most offense to, it's completely disrespectful and it doesn't even pay homage to the original culture. It's a form of whitewashing that is incredibly sinister, because it often follows along the logic of "wanting everything to be for everybody".
But you can't possibly partake in other cultures if you do not understand those cultures first, if you don't take the time to listen and be generous. To them, the song is just a song. Like most facets of the show, they take these brilliant works and strip them down to scraps, then try to spin that into something brilliant by telling people to look at the "abstract" and what isn't there. Then people go and theorize and completely overwrite the original intention, they erase the meaning, and it's very painful to witness.
The mistreatment of Black people both in and outside of the show is WHY they used the song in the first place, certainly part of it. If they had respect for Black people then this wouldn't even be a conversation.
