After over a year, I return to drop chapter 17 of Elastic Heart. Have at it, if anyone still follows this blog lol

Chapter summary:

In which Levi makes the right choice finally, Eren shows off a hidden talent with a little help, and Hanji is nosy.

Work summary:

Shortly after winning the war against titans, Hanji recieves an order to execute both Eren and Armin. While Levi appeals the ruling before the government--and sacrifices just about everything in the process--Hanji scrambles for a cure. She finds one, but the side effects are less than desirable, at least in Eren's case.

When a freshly demoted Levi is the only option left to look after an incredibly angry, incapable Eren who's body is betraying him in more ways than one, old, repressed emtions begin to make themselves known. Suddenly, neither of them can hide from what happened nine years prior and perhaps the only key to them coexisting is to confront it and clear the air between them. Unfortunately, they're going to have to stop fighting and being stubborn first.

This reminds me of one night when I was walking home from work at like, midnight and there was no one but me on the street and i saw this rat scamper across the sidewalk, then stop and stare at me. I was exhausted, but my brain said "hes lost. Subway rat is lost" so I just pointed back towards the subway and the rat took off the way I had pointed. I was like YES, MY GOOD DEED FOR THE DAY IS DONE. I CAN SLEEP PEACEFULLY.

This, too, happened in Brooklyn.

welp i for one am totally unsurprised that levi still wants to kill zeke 

i don’t blame him at all and wish him the best of luck in his murderous endeavors

For real tho. And I've seen so many people talking about how it's a disservice to his character that he still wants to and all that jazz, but what part of Levi's character says he wouldn't. As much as I adore him, he's a violent dude at heart. His go to for solving problems is 'kick it'. He was just blown to high heaven by Zeke. Of course he still wants to kill him. At this point, if he would chew his own ankle off if it meant killing Zeke. If he had promised Erwin not to kill him, hed do it anyway. Because thats his character. His been gravely wounded and this is retribution now.

Do I think he deserves to rest and live a long life? Hell yes. But also, I'm not gonna sit here and say this is out of character. As a guy who categorically makes bad choices time and time again, picks the absolute wrongest of options almost without fail, twice he has opted to let Zeke live, even momentarily and it bit him in the ass.

Of course the man is dedicated to finally finishing the job. It's a matter of pride now.

You go, sweetie. Kill Zeke, but don't die while doing it, oki?

The woman next to me kind of gasped and then looked over at me and said "is that normal?" And I just kinda looked at her for a second and then shrugged and said "I guess not, but its not the weirdest thing I've seen today." Ant resident of the city will tell you, this is a fucking weird ass place, my dudes. But we wouldn't have it any other way.
