Reasons why I think a Lucifer/Adam past would make a lot of sense in the show and why I think Viv COULD do it. We can't expect Lucifer to be an entirely innocent babygirl. This man has been alive for thousands of years, and he's capable of being an asshole. Adam too is very capable of this. Both of them suffer from Trauma and their past in very telling ways.
The most we know is that Adam was controlling but never described as abusive, malignant, or even cruel. It's safe to say he and Lucifer were very much in the same boat of
-Focusing almost entire only their goals. Adam with his "purpose" and Lucifer with his "ideas."
-This no doubt could cause a lot of tension between two guys who might've been friends from the very start. Neither one shifting in their beliefs, unable to persuade the other
If Lucifer and Eve had an affair, that means they both cheated. On Eve, and on Lilith. If THIS is the case...
1. Adam is probably pretty justified in a lot of his feelings. We don't know how things were with Eve. We ONLY know the perspective of Lilith and Lucifer from their book.
2. Lucifer is a homewrecker and that's NEVER ok. Depending on when this happened, it would be a reason why Adam hates the Morningstar family as much as he does. We'd have to accept that what he did was very, very shitty. I don't think Viv will protect her characters from mistakes; maybe in 2019. But she's grown as a writer, and is VERY capable of it.
3. Lucifer would need to REALLY own up for the shit he did. Just like Dave Grohl is doing right now.
Betrayal is a powerful feeling. If both felt betrayed by each other, or not supported, and went their separate ways, it would be an amazing story to see them return. As friends, and not just that, but people who are capable of learning from their mistakes, and the past.
Because lets be honest. Both of them need a friend who keeps them in check. Someone to check Adam's attitude, and another to reign in Lucifer's bull shit.
The Book of Hell is very onesided and I think about everyone agrees. A Book of Eden, or Book of Heaven, would really explain a lot of issues.
I also don't think we can view Eve and Lilith as helpless, pitiful, female passengers or bystanders. If Lucifer cheated and fucked up two Marriages, that is on him.
But Eve and Lilith? I think assuming they're just naturally good or perfect is sexist. Every character, regardless of who they are (except Emily and Vaggie) are capable of mistakes, and judgements.
Tbh, I don't see either of these men ending up with their wives in the end. If Lilith is able to abandon her husband and Daughter, and Adam has never been remarried or in a relationship again, and Eve is not in anyone's lives.. who knows?
But in the end, I believe it is MORE than possible for Lucifer and Adam to reconnect, forgive, and grow from the shit they've both done together. That is the whole core idea of this show; forgiveness, redemption, moving on.
TLDR: they were friends, and can be friends again.
