watched john green’s video about his religion and honestly “where we see the marginalised and oppressed, we see god” is such a banger philosophy
to anybody who may need to hear this right now.
you are worthy of being delighted in. god delights in you. the people around you delight in you. your presence brings others delight, even if you don’t think so, i promise you do.
you deserve to delight in every joy life gives you, and even through every hardship and every bad thing that happens to you and happens in the world, we may not fully understand why these things happen, but god is with us to delight in us and how we get through every trial and difficulty life gives us.
god delights in everyone. in you, even when you dont feel worthy of being delighted in, in the people (specifically marginalized people) who arent treated as if they deserve to be delighted in. god delights in them, and we should act the same.
(this was a little message from my neighbor who was recently ordained as a priest who gave this as his homily message today)
Happy Pride Month especially to my fellow queer religious people. Be proud in the knowledge that you are beloved by God exactly the way you are
forgot to post this on here for easter!!
holy week
God spent 13 billion years preparing for you. He will not abandon you now.
Tumblr user, look at me. Your problems with organized religion are not solved by harassing random religious people on the internet.
Listen to me
Books and theory and journaling and podcasts and learning are all well and good and valuable
But at some point you need to get out there and start forming a relationship with God.
Put down the text and go talk. Go spend time with the divine. Go breathe the breath of life. Go love. Go care for your neighbor. Go create art. Sit in silence. Sit in silence some more. Keep sitting until you feel God with you. Then stay there until the moment passes. Treat God as you treat a friend. You can’t form a relationship by reading someone’s LinkedIn or by stalking their social media pages. At some point you gotta invite them for a drink or just say hi to them on your commute or just sit and wait for them to come by.
I can't take this anymore what 💀💀💀💀
We cannot be reading the same Bible atp
"Do not commit the sin of empathy"☠️
My brother in Christ, do you know Christ?
The more I read deeper theology the more the message clarifies how much God really, really loves humankind. I wish I could put it into words but I think our mistake - especially after the Enlightenment when Deism became popular - we got this idea that a Creator “made the world” and is kind of out there keeping an eye on things and *might* intervene if we beg hard enough. But God in Christ was - and is - human just like us. He didn’t have to be. He could have remained more or less transcendent. But he really missed us so the only thing he could do was come into our way of being himself. We’re talking about the essence that made the sun - whatever that is, whatever deep scientific mystery you want to plaster on that - ended up a baby getting his diaper changed and a kid stubbing his toe and a teenager getting bullied (probably) and a young man struggling to assert his ideas against established authorities. Just this life, you know?
And he gave us the message: none of you can be killed in a way that matters because you’re all like me, and I came here to prove it and will hang around and help you get out of the mess you’re in.
All of our annoyingly fleshy lives are wrapped up in that, all our bewildering senses and physical needs. God isn’t distant and extraordinary. He is near to humanity and telling us we are actually more extraordinary than we can generally believe.
I've felt drawn to God for years but I always pushed Him away because of the hate many Christians preached. But one morning, I woke up suddenly and heard a voice say to me "You have to take Jesus back"
And in that moment I knew I couldn't let their hate drive me away from my savior. So I gave my life to Jesus. And the rest is history
So here's your reminder: That we can not let hateful Christians overpower the love of Jesus. Let our love and grace be louder than their hate.
just heard “turns out, shockingly, that you can’t pray away your gay thoughts because you can’t pray away your capacity for love” from a wise Christian queer man on a tiktok comp, and i thought it’d be wise to share
I don’t think that you’d find Christ in the home of a mega pastor or in the home of men like Donald Trump but instead you’d find Him in the queer community center. You’d find Him in the homes of people who are struggling to take care of themselves and their community. You’d find Him where there is genuine love and community instead of greed and hatred for the other.
