Me, fourteen and making OCs: okay she can’t be a Mary Sue! I can’t make her too cool or everyone will think she’s unbelievable and hate her :((
Me, thirty-two and making OCs: Every person I think is hot in this video game is into this OC and also she gets to be a Special Princess. I’ll commission a propaganda portrait of her as an imperial saint.

This comment was left on a post about making the most of the Libby app. "Excessive use of generous lending policies" is the most absurd phrase I've ever seen anyone use to discuss libraries.
evergreen
looked up Heidi because I'm a journalist
for reasons I can't imagine this publisher of sexless Alaska love stories is averaging under 20 likes each on posts about her books, so if I can be so honest I kind of have my doubts that her books are getting read even with the excessive use of generous lending policies
Also her claim that authors are not getting paid per borrow is.... wrong. With ebooks (which is what she's talking about here with Libby) there are two forms of licensing for libraries to lend out ebooks.
The first kind is that they buy a license for a pre-determined amount of check-outs. I'll just make some numbers up for the sake of illustrating what that looks like: Let's say $20 for 20 borrows. When the ebook has been checked out 20 times, the library has to renew the license and pay more money in order to continue lending out the ebook. The author gets a cut of that $20 as their royalties.
The second kind is literally paying per borrow. (Again just making up numbers here) Let's say the library pays 50 cents every time the book is checked out. The author still gets a cut as their royalties. Is it just 10 or 20 cents per borrow? Yes, but that adds up! AND it means that people who otherwise wouldn't have been able to read my book at all are able to read it, which is great! AND it means that the library is thriving and being used, which is also great!
So yes, authors DO get paid from library activity!!!!!!
Do not feel guilty for using the library. I don't know one single author (except this Little Miss Ma'am in the screenshots, apparently) who would resent their readers for using libraries.

a small thing i learned from my sister dying is that i really would rather the people i love be a burden than be whatever the hell else they'd be if they weren't. yes even if it's messy and not always fair and hard completely inconvenient for everyone involved. even if it's weird. even if i'm rolling my eyes a bit inside sometimes. i just want you to bother me. please always bother me
like "it's rotten work" "not to me not if it's you" actually sometimes it's still rotten work. even if it's you. and i'd still do it a million times over
This Fourth of July, I ask that you support Native Hawaiian independence.
The Kingdom of Hawai’i was illegally overthrown with the help of American businessmen and we have suffered under the iron grip of America.
Our land is simply seen as a vacation spot, my people are simply seen as tour guides and hula dancers. We have had our culture, our history, and our people turned into a commercialized joke by America.
The rampant tourism kills our islands with endless hotels, attractions and overcrowding. The housing and living costs are out of control because of the false “paradise” narrative. The Navy poisons our water and destroys our land. Covid has killed so many of my people due to the reckless and selfish nature of tourists. I have lost loved ones to this virus, because tourists “couldn’t stay away”.
My people have suffered. I have suffered.
We are more than your vacation. We are more than an aesthetic.
We are a sovereign nation illegally occupied by the United States of America.
Restore Hawai’i to Hawaiians. End the American Occupation.
See the links below to learn more and to read up on your Hawaiian history.

i must say, i am a huge fan of when a book is in the middle of a very exciting plot containing many interesting problems when out of nowhere for a few pages it's like, "hey by the way, real quick, here's a detailed explanation of the city's water filtration system! i'm telling you this for a reason and you should worry about it. anyway! haha okay back to the plot" and you just get to be Scared for a while
i am kissing you on the mouth right now

Dungeon Meshi season 2 in october 2027!
hi! idk if this is the right place to ask but do you have any clue who the artist behind these are? or if these are all even the same artist? i really love this art style and i wanna see more of their work but i've had no luck figuring out who made these lol, i see these laios chibis on alotta merch and the colouring page is sourced from here: https://delicious-in-dungeon.com/special-ymn.html
Hey! Yes I remember the monster coloring book pages... I dont know who's the artist though, it's probably someone at trigger but from what I can tell the exact artist isn't listed in the page or anywhere I could find.
At first I thought the coloring pages were done by Kui but now looking closer I'm not sure
Can't tell... well actually, looking at the mermaid it's probably not Kui?
Checking the memorial book for similar styles (since there the artists are credited) there's these page by Shimada Sayaka (嶋田清香) and Kataoka Chiharu (片岡 千春)
Sorry I can't help more!
It's them!!!!
