tbh the whitest trolls to me are the zahhaks and the makaras bc of what kind of internet-people equius and gamzee represented at the time. juggalo culture is predominantly white working class folks or white folks on the poverty line, and in the US bc of segregation, that meant a lot more mixing of cultures than you see in middle class and up areas. its the same with canada and the UK. so you see a lotta black influences in there bc of how US class structures have been constructed. its a melting pot made by and for the working class. a lotta irl juggalo stuff is pretty chill from what ive heard? as a movement they want to demolish class heirarchy and build community. ofc theres room for abuse in the lifestyle though, thats not unique to juggalos. gamzee as a rich white boy living a juggalo lifestyle but not getting it right and actually reinforcing what irl juggalos fight against makes perfect sense for his character
equius on the other hand is like belligerently Hegemonic White Cis Dude coded to me. he represents young white cis boys on the precipice of falling into the manosphere pipeline, imo. specifically bc theyre lonely and insecure. his spot on the hemospectrum is perfect for breeding that shit. he's been told his whole life that hes better than most of the ppl he knows. hes higher up caste wise than most of his friends, particularly nepeta, but still feels inferieor to his friends who ARE higher up than he is, which is what sparks that hyperspecfic brand of insecurity in white cis boys. their only real problem is that someone else whos even more priviledged is looking down on them. and gamzee also being white just kind of compounds that bc of the sense of 'competition' between white guys or whatever, to be The Whitest Squarest* Guy who is On Top (haha) Of All Other White Square Guys
everyone else? nah. its so obviously not whats happening. which really just highlights the fact that large swaths of fandom still believe that white is default in terms of character design. and its insane to me how ppl can say w/ their whole chest that the hemospectrum has nothing to do w/ race, its just abt class, when racism and class are intrinsically tied. like theyre horrible twin sisters, man, you cant rlly have one without the other. enforced class models in society dont work unless theres someone up top deeping someone else Deserving of having less bc theyre not the exact same type of person as them
*using the term Square here not to denote any kind of 80s movie nerddom but to try to describe hegemonically cishet (and homogenized white) normies who are toxic abt it and think everyone else should be like them
I been watching good movies lately

roxy drawing from the stream last week, thank you to everyone who stopped by despite the technical issues 🙏 i promise that the next time i steam i'll have a better connection
seeing your transman dirk strider have visible boobs was so important to me in accepting my own chest. i don't have to be flat-chested to be masculine... v healing, 11/10 work you got there
Im so glad!!! here is a drawing ive been wanting to make for a while :p
I draw him how i do because i realized that about my own body and transmasculinity :) i relate to dirk alot in his isolated upbringing, teaching himself gender ideals and the idea of him never having any hopes of accessing hrt so he over performs masculinity socially, and being someone who cant afford hrt and has a feminine build.. i think it can fit his text and unhealthy relationship to masculinity within the comic well
Coming to realize that my body is my own, an inherent neutral being, and that my own masculinity was never at odds with my body. I find it plausible for dirk to come to similar conclusions about himself and it makes me really happy others can feel seen this way through what i make!! ^u^
dave strider will walk around calling himself the gayest gay man alive and everyone’s like ohhh but he loves women. and the thing is he does. but he’s gay about it. you understand.
all i’m saying is it’s exceedingly humorous to me that the fandom decided dave was bisexual and then get very mad at anyone who “erases” this about him. as if it wouldn’t be perfectly valid to call him pansexual. or omnisexual. or demisexual. or queer. or questioning. or unlabeled. like. he has called himself all of those things the same amount of times he’s called himself bisexual!
(hint: zero)
i’m literally also a bisexual who prefers to call myself gay. i do not think its crazy to do that… especially when he literally only ever calls himself gay in the comic / official content
#dave strider and schrodinger's bisexuality #people are mad at this for no fuckin reason lol #dave is probably bisexual technically but he defines his sexuality and gender in the vaguest possible terms #ask him his sexuality and he will talk at you for 20 minutes and ultimately not give you a solid answer #but by that point you're confused and ready for him to stop talking already so you just let it go #dave defining his sexuality in the epilogues: #“a gay homosexual who only consumes homo ass snacks delivered right to my mouth by a big queer butler” #“technically 30% to 70% gay” #he literally says “i know the word bisexual exists btw im just choosing not to use it here” #and after years of being with jade in the candy timeline he says to obama “i think im gay” #i can imagine dave having the same issues with the term bisexual that i do #first of all it sounds way more concrete than it actually is and often gives people a very specific idea of what you are attracted to #there's a huuuge amount of diversity to bisexuality but it's frequently lost bc nobody's gonna explain the details every single time #so you end up with people defaulting to “ok bisexual = 50% women 50% men” #meanwhile a term like gay is “technically” specific but so broadly used that it's easy to insert ambiguity into it #“im so gay” etc is used by people all over the sexuality spectrum #calling yourself gay CAN be specific but can also mean “i am some manner of queer” #which leaves room for you to explain if you want or keep it intentionally vague #not to mention it's usually way more fun and impactful to use the word gay than bisexual #it's such a mood killer to have to clarify that you're bi when you talk/joke about being gay #also tbh i think dave's feelings on sexuality are practically inseparable from the way he was raised #his hangups have to do with being “GAY” so he's gonna call himself GAY gdi! #ok essay over whoops
