fun tip for cis people: instead of saying “back when she was a he” or “back before [birthname] became [preferred name]”, try not being a pile of shit by saying something like “before she came out” or “before she began her transition”!
also if their transition is irrelevant to the story, don’t bring it up! just say “when X was a kid/ younger/ in college/ etc” and carry on using their current name and pronouns.
That last point is very important! DO NOT OUT ANYONE! Do not bring up their trans status or transition unnecessarily! And you trying to look more interesting/cool/whatever by having a trans friend does not count as “neccessary”!!
Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.
If you can't do anything else, please just read and reblog.
A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.
There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.
There is no plan.
Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.
Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.
We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.
This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.
We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.
People are dying.
People are dying.
People are dying and there is no plan.
More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.
My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.
Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.
But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.
She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.
So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.
chubby girls who think they’re better than thin girls because “guys like thick girls” are clowns. thin girls who think they’re better than chubby girls because “guys like skinny girls” are clowns. you’re all clowns, stop letting men turn you against other women (over something so superficial and unimportant!!!). stop letting men “validate” your existence and body type. they dont care about you, they have a fetish.
“not all men!” but all women are bad drivers and all women are moody and all women are emotional and all women get to be painted with the same brush but don’t you dare generalise men that’s unfair!!!!!!!!
Men think they’re so angry. They’re not angry. They’re just weak to the false power that aggression gives them. No man will ever understand the sheer, unearthly rage I feel inside when I, or any other woman, is treated lesser than for being a woman. Men do not own anger, it’s not theirs. It’s ours.
Today, please consider what sorts of trans people are visible.
Art of trans bodies is overwhelmingly white, is overwhelmingly trans men with top surgery scars and vulvas and trans women with breasts and a penis.
There are trans men/transmascs who don't get top surgery! There's also trans men/transmascs who get bottom surgery! I've never ever seen any art of phalloplasties/metoidioplasties, or even the scars on the arm/leg that come with them. There's even trans men/transmascs who never go on HRT!
There are trans women/transfemmes who don't have noticable breasts! There are even some transfemmes who wear binders or get top surgery to keep a flat chest. There are also transfemmes who get bottom surgery, and transfemmes who never go on HRT!
Trans people have all sorts of body/genital combinations!
Trans people have bodies as diverse as our souls.
"Trans" should not become another binary set of body types.
Trans people do not become trans only after we medically transition!
If you're an artist who wants to depict more types of trans bodies, I highly recommend Transbucket. It has a huge range of gender confirmation procedures with lots of pictures.
A reminder on this TDOV that autistic trans people are amazing!!
A higher portion of trans people are autistic compared to that of the general population, and there are many many theories as to why that is. But I personally don’t care why, I just feel blessed to have so many amazing trans people in the autistic community and so many amazing autistic people in the trans community 🏳️⚧️❤️♾
for this upcoming TDOV, let’s recognize the trans people who can’t be visible online. the closeted trans people, trans people that aren’t comfortable with their body enough to take pictures, trans people that can’t show their face online for safety reasons, and everyone else who can’t do things like post selfies today. you’re beautiful, brilliant, and loved, and you don’t need to show your face (or even go by your preferred name and pronouns) online to be able to celebrate.
Boy, there really is, like….not nearly enough social pushback against dudes scolding women for doing feminism wrong. Like these guys will totally accept, on paper, that you shouldn’t tell marginalized people how to handle their own oppression, and then they’ll turn right around and get a bunch of praise and clout for lecturing women about how to be better at handling their own oppression. Like, sir, this is not a supervised internship. You are not the authority figure that gets to give feedback and/or permission on what I’m doing here. My bosses are other women. This isn’t even your office building. Get the fuck out of here
“Diamonds are a girl’s best friend” is a phrase often thrown around to prove that women are materialistic, but if you listen to the song you realize that it’s really about how men think a woman’s looks and youth are the only valuable assets she has. They’ll trade her in when she “loses her charms”, so she needs to collect diamonds and valuables to sustain herself when she’s old and alone.
Consider that the song was written and performed during a time when women couldn’t find a job for decent pay, that the only way they could survive financially was to tie themselves to a man and hope he’d stick around and provide support.
The real message is that men are shallow and flighty, so take their sweet words with a grain of salt and make sure you get something real out of the relationship.

de beauvoir told us that the reason women cant see our oppression is because unlike other minority groups, we live lives entirely entwined with our oppressors and it all seems normal.
this is why female only spaces are important. we need to be alone together when we speak so we hear more “yes!! that’s exactly what happened to me too!!!” and less “shut up, that never happens”.
