Wow! How cool is that! Drum corps cd with the 2015 productions! It’s missing about 17 corps though. How fair is it to those 17 corps? They worked just as hard as everyone else. Are they not equal? Is that really a good representation of #growdrumcorps ? DCI, if you’re all about growing drum corps, why won’t you recognize all the corps equally? You sure won’t be seeing me purchase a 2015 CD anytime soon.

Women, Gays, and Classical Music - The New Yorker

Musicians will look at her and be distracted from the music!”

I think every musician should take a look at this. I know in my experiences in music, I’ve rarely played in a large ensemble under the direction of a woman besides a few student teachers in middle and high school, nor have I seen many perform. Clearly there’s still a bias against women in classical music that needs to end.

Hey! I play Bass Clarinet and I am switching to Tenor Sax for college marching band next year because some colleges are lame ad won't march Bass! My high school did and that's what I marched this year. :) Anyway, do you have any advice for me switching from Bass Clarinet to Tenor Sax? <3

oh boy the extent of my experience with saxophone was a brief, unsuccessful stint on the alto in middle school so i'm probably not the best to ask, but from what i've heard, it's pretty easy to switch from clarinet to sax. the fingerings are similar and there's no goofy octave key transposition (the octave key really just makes the note you're playing go up the octave). good luck!!

P.S. tenor reeds work on bass clarinet and vice versa so if that counts for anything, shouldn't be a difficult switch!
