October 2nd is national custodial appreciation day. Next time you see a custodian or as we at Hollywood studios call it a showkeeper make sure to thank them or even talk to them. I promise you it makes our day.

JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL
I have always loved power washers. This is my confession.
There’s fandom for pressure washers?
Any utility crew custodians will appreciate this post.
Is it better to apply online or go to the casting center at downtown disney? Especially if you just want a custodial position.
I'd say it's always better to apply in person if you are able to. To me it just seems more professional and shows that you are serious about the job.
To get hired into custodial would i need references or letters of rec? And would I get a job if I have wrist tattoos? Also can you ask for specific placement, like if I wanted to work on Main Street U.S.A?
I do not believe you need references or recommendation letters. However as with any potential employment, it always helps to be as professional as possible, so go for it! The tattoos is another thing. I do know of some cast members with tattoos. Normally to be considered for employment the tattoos should be in non-visible areas or areas that can be easily covered with the costume.. such as your foot or leg (if your role/location's costume has the option for pants)...etc. My best suggestion would be to contact the Casting Center so they can better explain the specific policy on tattoos. Yes, when you apply you can request specific places you'd like to work. I'm not sure if it can be as specific as Main Street, but perhaps Magic Kingdom in general. Then once you've been hired, talk to your leaders about being moved there. Also pick up shifts there so you can get a feel of the area. Even with custodial, and even in the same park, many areas can be quite different. It's best to test the waters before diving right in. Hope this helps!
I need some tips for my first visit to Disneyland. I'll be going to California Adventure too on the same day. I'll only have one day to spend at the parks so I want to make the most of it but not try to rush and overdo it. I'm used to Walt Disney World so I feel like I should be able to do more given the smaller size of the parks. What should I see, do, eat?
IM GOING TO DISNEYLAND
Most likely at least. I just booked a trip to surprise my Grandma with a visit for Mother's Day from 5/7 - 5/14. At least once during that week I plan on taking my cousin to Disneyland. I've never been to the original park. I've always wanted to go there. So excited! So as it will be my first time... give me some suggestions or tips.
RIP
This week we mourn the loss of two amazing cast members... Ernesto (Ernie) Sharpe - 75. This man was such a hard worker. He was very kind and never complained about anything. He also trained quite a number of custodians at the water parks. His influence will most certainly be missed. Ann Marie Smith - 59. Ann Marie was one of my very first managers and one of my favorites. Such a sweet lady and so caring for her cast. She was always in a good mood and would be sure to make you smile. World Showcase Custodial won't be the same without her. It is so sad to lose such good people and great friends. I speak for everyone when I say that my thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of Ernie and Ann Marie. :'(
I just found out that I'll be working at a resort. Any tips or what I need to expect?
I've never worked custodial at the resorts before. I've heard it's easier and more laid back than the parks. Sorry I don't have much information.

So I previously mentioned footwear. Disney does provide shoes for custodians, but as I've said before a lot of people don't like them. Also like I said before I've been wearing the same pair of work boots for a while now and they are still in decent shape. I don't mind buying my own work shoes if I know they'll be comfortable and can handle all the walking I do at work. Here is a link to the specific boots I have now. They are fantastic. I highly recommend them. Just to be clear this is not a paid endorsement by Disney or anything. Just me letting you all know of a good option for shoes/boots to work in.
( I have a couple so bear with me here) Do you have to provide your own belt/shoes? And if possible to answer, what does a basic work week look like?
Both belts and shoes are provided by Disney. You used to have to get your own shoes, but now they provide them. However I've heard from some people that the shoes aren't that good and wear out quickly. I wouldn't know as I still have my trusty boots from forever ago. Unfortunately I can't really answer the work week question as that varies so much from area to area.
Questions?
So it's been a while since I've posted anything on here. Does anybody have any questions or suggestions for the blog? Ask away!
Hi :)
My name is MJ (female)! I am an 18 year old DCP hopeful! I’m deciding which job I want to pursue, and I really think that custodial sounds like one of the best!
Most people think that I am crazy, but I have heard that the program makes the custodial job very easy, simple, and fun!
