A special announcement:

Hello to all of those who have followed this blog since the the ye olden days of 2011 and to those who just started following.

I created this tumblr, my first tumblr account, as a way to enjoy one of my favorite ships without having to be constantly harassed on message boards or other comic spaces for simply enjoying something. I never expected anyone to really follow or interact with this tumblr, but to my surprise many of you did and you became my shipper family and tumblr friends for a good number of years.

Unfortunately, I grew away from Marvel due to their many many many X-Men mandates and general lack of direction. This blog was used less and less as I read less and less Marvel comics. I made updates here and there but nothing substantial for a long time. Until Krakoa and X-Men 97 reignited my interest in Marvel's handling of the X-Men. Sadly, Krakoa is ending and 97 is on seasonal hiatus, but to my surprise I'm still keeping up with Marvel.

The surprise of the year (decade) is that X-Men 97 introduced Roguneto into the mix and it was more than just a one-off scene! The shipper in me ignited! And apparently the shipper in other people ignited as well because there are even more people in love with this ship or at the very least see the merit of it.

So this got me thinking and debating what to do with this tumblr. It has history for me, but it has become disorganized and out of date over the years. I attempted maintenance several times, but it's truly too much to go through. The resolution I came up with is to start anew!

That's right. FY Rogue and Magnus will no longer be updating Rogueneto content on this tumblr. Instead, I will be switching to: https://rogunetocentral.tumblr.com/

This new tumblr will be an open page for all Roguneto fans old & new to get updates, content, and discuss the ship.

Don't worry I won't be deleting FY Rogue and Magnus. I don't have the heart to do so. I will leave it open as an archive so that way you can still access and enjoy previous posts and content. It's been a wild ride for this tumblr, but I hope you'll join me at the new one.

Age gap discourse is surreal to me because social circles being limited by age is very much just something for when you're in school. Even in college, you can be in classes with people 20+ years older than you, especially in community colleges with people getting degrees "later" in life.

People in their late teens and early 20s are coworkers with people in their 40s and 50s. If you join community groups or clubs, you'll probably meet people decades older than you. Your neighbors probably won't be the same age you are. Neither will everyone at the bars or cafes you frequent. It's totally normal to meet someone much older or younger than you and hit it off as an adult because real life is not segregated by age.

at the risk of inviting discourse i'm not in the mood for, i think romy shippers & remy fans in general need to calm the fuck down about romy vs rogneto. not to be a bitch, but you all pls be normal for 5 fucking seconds. i've seen some frankly disgusting crap about both rogue & magneto that is completely unnecessary.

frankly if you can't handle not even an handful of eps of rogneto, when romy is clearly the endgame anyways, then for fuck's sake just don't watch the damn show & move on.

sure, you don't have to like it, but being mysogynistic towards rogue & hateful towards magneto bc of a ship is utterly ridiculous. again, pls. be. normal.

if you honestly believe or even remotely consider a major comic book publisher is waging "psychological warfare" against you for shipping a popular ship because the writer of a thing decided to try something different and unexpected with one of the characters of your ship, maybe you shouldn't be on social media.

Genuinely, maybe you should speak with a life coach or therapist if fictional characters doing fictional things for fictional reasons upset you to this, incredibly unhealthy, extent.

I'd like to point out that Rogue's inability to touch people isn't just an angsty romance trope but also something that keeps her away from her friends and that also hinders her job as a hero and that makes it all the more heartbreaking. Reducing it to a romance trope really does a disservice to her character arc that, pre-Gambit, had been very focused on being a reliable friend and hero to redeem her past

And the problem is not solely with the fans that only associate her character with that. It’s the messaging people got through years and years of content. Since Gambit was thrown in the picture, both in comics and animations, 80% of her inability to touch has been focused on the romantic and sexual barriers. Not only that, but it has been glorified and put on ‘the ultimate hill to conquer’ for her character. There was a brief, absolutely refreshing, pause on that narrative through the Legacy run and up to the point where she got back to Gambit. And then her character reverted to same old story. 😔

I miss 80s Rogue so much! I miss seeing her explore and develop strong reports with other characters and with the reality of her powers outside a romantic context.

I mean… no? That’s not what happened at all? Rogue broke down sobbing when Kurt mentioned Mags, she clearly didn’t just forget about him. It seems more like she was deliberately focusing only on Remy.

I wager it’s because, to her, it feels like grieving Magneto too is a betrayal. She clearly feels like Remy’s death is at least partially her fault, she’s in the bargaining stage of grief right now. Maybe if I’d told him I chose him, he wouldn’t have sacrificed himself. Maybe he did it because he felt like he had nothing to live for. And she also probably feels like since she turned down Magneto’s affections, she’s not entitled to mourn him.
