I absolutely blame Facebook for this shift. Words cannot describe how freaking WEIRD it was in the mid-00s when there was suddenly this popular website where you were required to use your real, brickspace name and encouraged to post photos of yourself. This might be a hot take, but if your response to your dead girlfriend coming back from the dead is to abandon your wife and infant son to go chasing off to see if she's alive, and you won't even tell your wife why you're leaving, and she tells you 'if you walk out that door, don't even bother coming back' and you leave anyway?

That is on you, buddy.

It is not your wife's responsibility to pick up the phone and call you and beg for an explanation.

It is not your teammate's responsibility to try to get you to tell the truth.

That. Is. On. You. And anyone who tries to say that Scott Summers doesn't understand how relationships work, or that Madelyne Pryor should have just picked up the phone and called him need to understand that Scott Summers is a fucking adult who got married and had a baby, which means he is just as responsible for their marriage dissolving, even more so actually, because he walked out the door and left her hanging. Madelyne did the right thing by cutting ties because she knew he wasn't coming back. And honestly? As someone who went through a similar situation, I fully support her decision.

Losing the person who meant the most to you in the world, in an attack on civilians whom you swore to protect.

You, one of the strongest and toughest mutants, failed to protect them. Failed to stop them from getting hurt.

Yeah. No wonder they both went berserk in their own way.

The biggest tragedy of all is that En Sabah Nur had NO ONE after Baal.

Baal rescued him, taught him, raised him to be a leader. You can see it in his eyes that homeboy is SO FLIP FLOPPING PROUD of Nur.

And then he is just GONE in a sudden attack by Rama-Tut.

Rogue at least had Nightcrawler to come and talk sense to her after she went on a rampage.

Remy also had a funeral, they mourned him.

Meanwhile, they dropped Baal and continued on. Nur didn't get to reflect or mourn.

So when Eson comes a-knockin' and asks him if he never wants to ever feel powerless ever again, of course Nur snaps and takes him up on the offer.

(Hence, I can empathize and feel so sorry for En Sabah Nur, but despise Apocalypse, who is all of power's horrific corruptions in one ugly giant body)
