looking for animal references on image searches has always kind of sucked but it's much worse after AI image generation technology has begun to actually past muster, which is why i always just go straight to inaturalist. can't recommend this highly enough. you get to both find out about niche species you've never even heard of and also see some really good photographs like this one

Previously, I have posted about how in the prototype version of Mario Artist: Paint Studio for the Japan-only Nintendo 64DD add-on, crashing the game shows a bizarre "You've been DINGLED..." screen with a British school crossing patrol officer, colloquially known as a "lollipop man" (included since the game being mainly developed by Software Creations, a British studio).

Interestingly, this is barely visible in the game itself as the actual "You've been DINGLED..." screen appears for only 2/3 of a second before being replaced with the crash debug information. As such, it appears that even during the prototype phase this was intended to be a sudden moment of surprise that requires viewing it multiple times to fully process the image, and was likely inserted as a prank between the British programmers.

Promotional Gewgaws

I found a folder of the promotional images I used when pitching 10 Beautiful Postcards (forthcoming on Steam, already on Itch) to the zeitgeist first time around.

The first batch explain the game genre. At the time I felt the game intuitively made sense if you played it but was maybe hard to "pitch", so they also represent my desire to mutilate surrounding vidcon discourse into something that would better suit my adverneeds.

This is easily one of the CRAZIEST videos I've ever gotten. I was rafting down a river when a Yellow Jacket came, landed on my bright pink waterproof phone pouch, and started drinking from the water droplets that had gathered there.

The most amazing part is how the water droplet magnifies the Hornet's mouth parts, so you get to see them up-close!!!! It was FASCINATING to witness!
