i think one of the reasons why i don't watch BL series (especially BLs from Thailand) is because it makes me yearn for something more! but oftentimes, that shit ain't real my dude
gay dating in the real world is toxic and draining! it's not all about the butterflies in you stomach or the random good night messages or the kisses on the cheeks.
in the real world, it's the unending answering of questions like: "are you a top or a bottom?" or "are you femme? i prefer mascs" or "i can only do quickies, are you down?".
in the real world, it's filtering through guys who just want to hook up or use you for their own personal and physical needs.
in the real world, you get concerned and worried about your partner because men make it look like it's so easy to cheat.
in the real world, you have to fit a certain standard just so you can be considered.
in the real world, it's toxic and draining!
i think one of the best, and probably most realistic BLs (if people can even consider it as a BL) is Looking. it's a good TV series that shows what it's like to date a gay guy in the current dating climate. i can't even watch the whole season because it triggers my anxiety. it amazes me how it perfectly depicts how scary it is to date around when you're gay.
it's good that BLs exist, at least some people can escape the horrors of dating in the real world, but i hope that people also take into consideration that BLs, in its truest form, are fantasies created by mass media to make it seem like dating, when you're gay, is easy.
